The newest version of PeopleSoft nVision requires that the client version of Excel to be 64 bit. Many companies do not support 64 Bit Excel. It would be nice if they kept the tool on the 32 bit Excel.
Oracle Support is not always timely in the responses to product questions or bugs discovered with PeopleSoft Financials. It would be nice if Oracle provided a Service Level Agreement for encountered bugs.
The archiving solution with PeopleSoft Financials is not very robust. It is cumbersome to move historical data from the transaction tables to the archive tables. Also, it would be nice if the archive tables were upgraded in the same manner as the transactional tables.

PRISM is a great tool to track and watch numerous financial documents. I would like to see more of an integration platform that would control tracking for specific project details. There is currently only a little section for job notes which I would like to see improve. I think navigation could be improved, but isn't the worst compared to some platforms I have worked with as it provides a tree like structure on the backend which helps synchronize information together for fiscal financials.

It meets most of the reporting requirements and ability to use the system easily. We like the simple interfaces for the users and ability to perform mass journal entry uploads. The Master data is easy to consume by users, including Chart of Accounts structure, Accounting Units, Cost Centers. The Activity based reporting feature is useful.

The support is satisfactory, given the large user base of the product. We had no issues to meet our reporting deadlines with Lawson. The organizational support team internally are well trained and hence only on exceptional basis issues are escalated to Lawson support team. We had no negative experience so far with the support of Lawson.

Alternatives Considered

Lawson is comparable to the other ERP's I have used. Similar functionality and interface. Usability is comparable.

PeopleSoft is much more appropriate for large organizations than the software programs listed here. I'm involved in a project to bring billing and accounts receivable functions out of "shadow systems" like those listed here and into PeopleSoft, and PeopleSoft is more robust, flexible, and standardizable. We've found it to be an excellent solution.

Return on Investment

We've been a customer since the early 80's. Avoiding conversion has saved us an incalculable amount of money. Fortunately, Lawson has kept up enough to keep meeting our needs.
Having a self-service portal saves us internal FTEs in Human Resources and Accounting. Benefits enrollment alone likely saves us one Benefits Coordinator FTE alone.

I would like to see more people using this product so that we can get a better return on investment. It is a good start that 20% of the employee pool is using this product occasionally. I would like to send reminders to employees to check this out more often and remind them what benefits we provide.
