Teamcenter is a product lifecycle management system designed to help organizations integrate and standardize product development processes across functional silos.
The Jira software works well for managing scrum boards and allocating resources to a task. When your Epics and Issues are set up properly, it can give you a good idea of where your team stands and the trajectory of your project. It is not the ideal solution if you need to provide documentation and support to people outside of your product teams or organization. It would benefit from having a public documentation or repository feature.
It is a system with good integration capabilities, it is necessary to use it every day to manage the entire life cycle of a product, the data is well established, it has a large number of CAD formats, we share data with great agility, which allows us to work as a team and solve any problem that arises, we keep our designs under control and share with our work team solutions based on data extraction thanks to Teamcenter. I recommend it for small and large companies, it is the ideal solution to maintain a product life cycle with great stability.
It is an easy-to-use tool and integrates many capabilities to manage CAD better than any other tool.
It is used by many companies with a great global presence and that has generated confidence for us when we decided to try it, the results have been satisfactory.
The user interface of this tool is not complex, it is easy to navigate and integrates a lot of functionalities that speed up our work significantly; as well as functionalities such as sectioning, displacing, moving, positioning, transforming, among others that have a lot to do with CAD management.
It works via the web through the browser, so it is not necessary to download any application that takes up space and more resources on the computer.
roles definition and authorization can be made more user friendly
process schedule definition requires more of IT skills than an actual use case, there can be dashboards to define such processes and it can be automated effectively
organization of workflows can be handled better and there should be automated reminders for tasks within the workflow
the user interface is pretty outdated, still menu based and has lot of scope for improvement
This is because Jira Software generates a huge profit for an affordable price. Having a tool that makes team management transparent and effective is very valuable.
In addition, the renewal of Jira Software and all Atlassian tools is predictable and clear, as the prices are published on the Atlassian website and there is no pyramid of intermediaries.
Because of our current customer needs, we will most likely maintain use of Siemens PLM products for some time. Aside from the initial software cost, we pay for yearly maintenance. Maintaining our yearly maintenance licensing with Siemens, we receive access to all of the latest software releases, as well as premier technical support
JIRA Software is a pretty complex tool. We have a project manager for JIRA who onboarded us, created our board, and taught us the basics. I think it would have been pretty overwhelming to learn without her. JIRA offers so much functionality that I'm not aware of -- I constantly need to Google or ask others about existing features. Also, although they are all under the Atlassian umbrella, I find it difficult to switch between JIRA Software and Confluence.
As previously mentioned, due to the intense amount of features and modules present in the software, the usability of the software suffers greatly. Many of the features are not used in our context, and many of the modules are not purchased, but the options are still present on the interface leading to a lot of clutter, much of which is never used. The interfaces suffer from a lack of design and tend to feel like a conglomerate of Windows 98 elements.
Our JIRA support is handled internally by members of our Product Support team. It is not supported by a 3rd party. Our internal support will always sent out notifications for downtime which is usually done on the weekend unless it is required to fix a bug/issue that is affecting the entire company. Downtime is typically 3-4 hours and then once the maintenance is complete, another broadcast email is sent out informing the user community that the system is now available for use.
It is an information bank for multinational companies. You can share and find any information or data about projects and different products. You can upload any report or data on any event or process and anyone from anywhere in the world from the same server and you can access it.The latest release of Teamcenter, has added support for three more authoring applications, enabling you to extend PLM document and process support to new users. Customers implementing Microsoft Office Online Server and Teamcenter Office Online Server provide their users with immediate access to content in the Active Workspace universal viewer. Users can check out the file with a single click and start editing in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
One of their strong points i stheir documentation. Almost all of the basic set up needed within JIRA is available online through atlassian and its easy to find and very precise. The more critical issues need to be addressed as well and hence the rating of 8 instead of a 9.
Take your time implementing Jira. Make sure you understand how you want to handle your projects and workflows. Investing more time in the implementation can pay off in a long run. It basically took us 5 days to define and implement correctly, but that meant smooth sailing later on.
Jira Software has more integrations and has more features than many of its competitors. While some of its competitors do have better UI/UX than Jira Software, they have improved this greatly over time. Atlassian also acquired Trello years ago, so that adds better user interfaces to the system. They do also offer a pretty in-depth library of how to customize the platform that others don't.
It is best to schedule projects and basic designs and execute a 3D plan with essential changes in details along with product planning, introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. It was easy to deploy at the first instance they provide very smooth and easy customer care support which is available 24/7.
It's a very robust and mature tool. The only thing that would make it better is the have a version embrace the cloud, which I'm sure is underway, but it's complicated, so it will take more time. But when it's done, look out. It will be near-perfect!
