Jira Software

Since Jira can include languages of different classes, and one of these is java, we recommend it for working with big data tables, from which a lot of progress could be made when reviewing and accessing customer data to which the project could be launched once completed, or to search for employee prospects that meet the necessary characteristics for the project to grow further. It would be of great help in some scenario that requires connecting to various plug-ins to accomplish other types of specific tasks within the platform, as fortunately Jira handles many external services within its Atlassian Exchange that can be of use to those who work fully with Jira and want to explore how to get new and improved management capabilities. Jira is a highly adaptable service, which can be integrated to many APIs to be added to heavier platforms, as in the case of satisfaction, which would serve to review and measure the level of satisfaction that employees maintain during the execution of projects through research that the project manager runs with such integration, and that information can be reflected in the main development reports.

Zoho Projects

My work involves projects of 5-15 people with numerous projects running simultaneously. Prior to Zoho, I did not have a central location from which to view all project statuses at once. Zoho looks to provide this and also looks like it will deliver. I am anxious to see how our organization's use of it develops. At this time, I feel I am likely to recommend Zoho Projects because my organization has made great software decisions in the past so I have a level of trust already that the research has been done that Zoho is the best solution for our line of work.

Zoho Projects

  • We use it to manage our sales orders as there are lots of moving parts which are necessary to get client orders done properly.
  • I use it anytime I have a new idea I want to put into motion. As I can create a list for brainstorming, feedback, specific actions necessary in order to test and or implement the idea.
  • Unrelated to business, it's a great way to plan travel in order to make sure you don't forget those important things like passport, flight arrangement, client meeting confirmation, and meeting prep as far as what specific documents or things do you need to bring with you.
  • And since everyone is on the go and expected to keep up with work, the mobile/tablet app makes it a breeze to keep up, work on, and create new projects.

Cons

Jira Software

  • Not an easily understandable interface for new users to explore by themselves. Dedicated training is required to educate how to use it
  • Customization for different projects to records different fields in not very easy for administrators
  • Reports and charts are not providing downloadable option to share
  • Linking stories to task and sub-task are little bit complex. Can provide drag and drop option.
Ayush Rastogi | TrustRadius Reviewer

Zoho Projects

  • There is no ability to add custom fields in the "Bugs" module - for example, if we want to add fields such as Version Number.
  • Reporting is not integrated - its a fairly expensive add-on.
  • There is no easy way to track actual and completed dates for tasks - so historical variance analysis is not easy.

While there are no fundamental problems with JIRA, I'm unsure that I will be working myself very closely with users of Atlassian Confluence. The client base I am concerned with tend to be more integrated with Amazon, IBM BlueMix / Watson, open source LAMP/PHP (WordPress, MediaWiki) & those that rely on more proprietary CMS would tend to use Sharepoint not Confluence. JIRA seems to me to stand or fall with the rest of the Atlassian silo or suite, as it is not closely integrated with Sharepoint or mediawiki based reporting or knowledge management. Data interchange standards in this area are weak so Microsoft, open source LAMP projects using Phabricator, and Atlassian JIRA seem to be three distinct silos, with Amazon, Google & IBM offering their own tools for similar needs.

I've reviewed about 8 other project management solutions and Zoho Projects is the best I've seen without being overly complicated. Zoho Projects keeps getting better! Recent new enhancements makes it even easier to navigate. There are new keyboard shortcuts that cut my time way down. The tools are very easy to use.

JIRA Software is a pretty complex tool. We have a project manager for JIRA who onboarded us, created our board, and taught us the basics. I think it would have been pretty overwhelming to learn without her. JIRA offers so much functionality that I'm not aware of -- I constantly need to Google or ask others about existing features. Also, although they are all under the Atlassian umbrella, I find it difficult to switch between JIRA Software and Confluence.

Zoho Projects is an easy project management tool to use. It provides all the functionality that we required for handling projects. We can easily create personal forms for projects and tasks, allowing us to add and report on our own desire. Apart from this we can create and edit documents in real time which saves our time. This allows us to share text docs, presentations, tables with the whole team and we can work on them together

Our JIRA support is handled internally by members of our Product Support team. It is not supported by a 3rd party. Our internal support will always sent out notifications for downtime which is usually done on the weekend unless it is required to fix a bug/issue that is affecting the entire company. Downtime is typically 3-4 hours and then once the maintenance is complete, another broadcast email is sent out informing the user community that the system is now available for use.

Although it might lack intuitiveness, once you get a hang of how Zoho Projects works, you can do a LOT. The impact good project management has on profitability is huge, and it has helped not only improve communication and coordination when working on a project, but more importantly have adequate tracking of time, due dates and potential bottle necks

One of their strong points i stheir documentation. Almost all of the basic set up needed within JIRA is available online through atlassian and its easy to find and very precise. The more critical issues need to be addressed as well and hence the rating of 8 instead of a 9.

Take your time implementing Jira. Make sure you understand how you want to handle your projects and workflows. Investing more time in the implementation can pay off in a long run. It basically took us 5 days to define and implement correctly, but that meant smooth sailing later on.

Alternatives Considered

Jira Software

Jira Software is like Backlog on steroids, but that has [drawbacks] such as slower responsiveness, a cluttered interface, and features smaller teams may not need, but still have to pay for them. [The] backlog doesn't have as much expansion or customizability nor does it allow for integration of some key third-party apps requiring dev teams to build their own integrations. YouTrack has a lot of the functionality of Jira Software and Confluence combined at a fraction of the price. It's not as user-friendly [as] Jira Software so non-technical people trying to use the service will go through more of a learning curve. Jira wins when it comes to a [reduced] learning curve among these apps.

Zoho Projects

Zoho Projects provides a more limited set of functionality and customization options than other task/bug trackers on the market, but what it lacks in functionality it makes up for in ease of use. It probably has 80-90% of the features of its competitors but takes about a third of the time to get up and running and realizing value.

Return on Investment

Jira Software

  • Great easy to use tool and little training required for team members
  • Modification of processes/flows can cause confusion for team members unless properly communicated.
  • Look at the overall need and see if this tool fits your need, as there are other products available in the market.

Zoho Projects

  • We needed a system to organize our growing business, so anything was better than what we had, which was nothing.
  • Recording time spend is a huge reason for using project software. It has made me aware of the tasks that are taking too long and where we are not being profitable as a company.
  • It has kept our team accountable for what needs to get completed and when projects are not in motion or completed timely. It's helpful to know in order to get billing out faster.
