ESET PROTECT
Chose ESET PROTECT
Malwarebytes was a very good piece of software, but it did just one thing - look for malicious files and threats and eliminate them. And for a free piece of software, it did an amazing job. However ESET provides a more well rounded solution with all the different features …
Chose ESET PROTECT
For us we thought ESET was stronger that Norton. More well rounded in its all its features for business. Price point was also a big factor and no treats or issues while using this software in the past 7 years.
Chose ESET PROTECT
I'm a huge fan of ESET, the other companies seem to have either gone off the deep end by adding advertisements or they add too much and slow down the whole program, which slows down the whole PC. I haven't heard others with the same reputation as ESET either, I know of many …
Malwarebytes
Chose Malwarebytes
Malwarebytes beat the pricing we received from competing products like ESET and Bitdefender. Also, from looking at multiple reviews and ratings, Malwarebytes simply does a better job of protecting systems. It is easy to manage and maintain (sometimes information can be too …
Chose Malwarebytes
Usually I always used ESET before my painful incident with the ransomware, after that I realized that the protection only with traditional antivirus was not what you need since at that time I was browsing through many pages and download forums. Due to the speed and the …
Chose Malwarebytes
I have tried a lot of antivirus software. I really do not like a lot of it, because it consumes a lot of PC resources, which slows down the computer too much and takes time away from me. Malwarebytes is light, fast, effective and has a free version that works very well.

ESET
Comprehensive threat prevention against a variety of threats, such as viruses, ransomware, and spyware is effectively provided by ESET PROTECT. The cross platform compatibility of this software is advantageous for business with diverse IT environments such as those combination of Windows, macOS, and Linux systems. Some industries, such highly regulated sectors with specific compliance needs, may find it more cost-effective, however it is less suitable for small enterprises with limited IT resources and for organizations with severe budgetary limits.

Malwarebytes
Malwarebytes is definitely one of the top contenders in its field. As with any corporate software, there are headaches all along the way -- from implementation to daily use and support. And cost is also a factor. Although not inexpensive, Malwarebytes is comparable to its close competitors. Overall, the quality of the product shines through, and it does what it's intended to do...protect!

Pros
ESET
  • ESET provides comprehensive, transparent protection for my MacOS devices without interfering with the efficiency of my operating system.
  • It's easy to install, configure (default settings are great for just about everyone), and update.
  • ESET's customer communications, including a very detailed knowledge base online, make it clear I've chosen the right antivirus solution!

Malwarebytes
  • Low system resources, it does not slow down the whole computer when scanning or when real-time protection is enabled
  • Quick and frequent updates, usually people hate updating, but for malware/viruses, you want to be updated as possible. It takes less than 15 seconds and usually does it automatically. They usually send a few updates a day as they find more.
  • Protection features actually work when visiting known bad websites. The page will be blocked and nothing will be downloaded. It may not be what the user wants, but it's what the user needs (as the user can't know every bad website)

Cons
ESET
  • If the system administrator has functions such as pop-up notification and alert mail transmission, I believe that countermeasures can be taken faster
  • It often gets in the way of the network system.
  • Communication between PCs under the same network may be hindered, which may be an obstacle to verification.

Malwarebytes
  • One of the main things that malwarebytes is missing as a company, is phone support for its clients. All support questions has to go thru email only. This is not acceptable for issues that needs to be resolved quickly.
  • There is an issue when installing the client on a machine, it has a set amount of time where the software can register with the management server. The issue with this is, with machines that are over a wide area network, slow connection speeds can cause the software not to register. When that happens, it never re attempts to register in the future.

ESET
I'm giving it a 10, because I would totally have no reservations about staying on with eSet for another 3 years once our contract comes up for renewal. We are looking to transfer to a different product in January, however. This is due to a special pricing contract with the state of Ohio that made a normally much more expensive product very affordable and was cheaper than our coming eSet renewal cost. This is a very special case only available to government and educational organizations, but had that not been offered, we would have gladly stayed with eSet.

The last time we renewed Malwarebytes, we renewed for a 3 year renewal. That should describe the confidence we have in the product. Plus the cost savings impact year after year.

Usability
ESET
We had issues initially getting all of the policies implemented and working since it can be hard to figure out what setting is coming from what policy. Once you get your stack of policies setup and working, the product works great. The installers just work and knowing that they can remove other AV software when you install it can save you a lot of time and headaches.

When you have a product that does the job that it describes or advertises, you have to love it. While the malware posture is always changing, we depend on products that we pay for year after year to protect us from threats, both known and unknown. I give this rating because Malwarebytes just works and you don't have to worry whether it is going to beat up other programs on your systems.

Support Rating
ESET
Excellent support from ESET and when we had questions regarding the initial deployment they were there. The questions we put forth were answered immediately with great detail. Any of the items we put forth, scenarios, were given a good solution from ESET to fit our needs. This company stands by their product and are happy to step up when needed.

I honestly haven't needed support for Malwarebytes because I haven't had any problems with it, whatsoever. I am giving it a 9 rating because I haven't actually had an encounter or experience with customer service or support, so it's hard to rate the actual support team since I've never had the privilege of coming into contact with them.

Do the full scan at the beginning and be prepared to wait until it is done. It will find things you did not know were there. You can leave on the Apple firewall as well as the ESET firewall. There have been no conflicts. Remember to remove emails from being backed up, so you do not have spam on your backup! This was the mistake I made.

ESET
We really like the lightness of ESET, this really is a differential in your favor, the way it operates quietly in the background even running a scan was something that interested us, nothing worse than an antivirus locking everything like a scan and still end up issuing scandalous false detections, in the end the choice was made by ESET much because of this differential.

Avast and Norton's products were part of the testing for us but the cost was very high for them and the products were not light on the machine. They took up a lot of memory and slowed the computers down. Malwarebytes although may lack some feature, is a very light software.

Return on Investment
ESET
  • Stopped several malware outbreaks that would have had considerable downtime on endpoints.
  • Stopped several ransomware attacks that would have potentially costs large sums of money and downtime.
  • Allowed us to utilize Eset itself in lieu of a patchwork of platforms to accomplish the same tasks. Saving us several thousand per year.
