Simple to use for managing endpoints (mass deployments, imaging, remote control) [and] simple to learn for new users. Simple to implement.Not very good at reporting Software Inventory and not suitable for controlling non-office assets (Additional add-on needed).

If you're a large company with enough budget to maintain infrastructure and pay the expensive professional partners, only then should you consider this solution. If you have a lot of folks on the move and need to remotely deploy the application Horizon Mobile Manager could be a great help. Another typical scenario where it is appropriate is when you allow BYOD and need to create an application bubble that contains the apps, secure content locker etc. preventing employees to share it or open the content in other apps

  • System inventory - ManageEngine scans every computer, listing a detailed report of all hardware and software.
  • Patch management - Microsoft products and most third party software receive security updates on a regular schedule without user intervention.

  • Sometimes it will report that systems are missing patches when they are really not.
  • I wish it was able to pull warranty details for computers directly instead of having to enter manually.

  • Expensive to implement because you'll most definitely need a professional partner for implementation
  • As easy it is to use, it is complex to install. We have about 4 servers in our infrastructure only for this.
  • Tech support almost never gets back to you on the same day. Even for the critical issues.

We selected ManageEngine Desktop Central because it is easy to implement, and their support is very good. It has very good functionality, rolled into one, in how well it handles these features. Also, there is nothing that compares to the cost-effective nature of this product. We recommend ManageEngine Desktop Central. It's one of the best solution from the market.

  • The impact has been positive. Being able to manage entire sets of assets, rather than addressing them one at a time, has been huge. The ability to deploy an application without disturbing an end-user is great as well.
  • No negative impact on ROI.

  • Since we have total control to do remote wipes on employee's own devices with HMM, it allows us to bring in BYOD policies which saves big bucks on company mobile purchases.
  • If you're not a large enough company, the implementation and maintenance cost might not be justified
  • The lackluster support can sometimes cause big issues go unfixed for significant duration which can potentially cause a problem
