Considered Both Products
Miro
Chose Miro
Miro is way more intuitive. Whereas with other tools, there is a learning curve for how to interact with the tools.
Chose Miro
Miro is significantly more user friendly in my experience and significantly easier to use.
Chose Miro
Mural is similar to Miro. Even the name is similar. One difference is that Miro works better for MS PC users. Mural works better for Apple users.
Chose Miro
I didn't use Mural as much so I don't have a great comparison. I know our enterprise went with Miro so we lost Mural access. We do have access to Fig Jam which is part of Figma, but I don't use it because I like Miro and don't want to learn another tool.
Chose Miro
Overall, we found that Miro was easier to use and provided more proactive guidance and templates. Also, more people were familiar with the Miro brand and had used it in previous roles.
Chose Miro
Miro is much easier to use than these competitor products. I imagine they would be more powerful for specific use cases, but Miro is at least good enough for pretty much everything we do. Everyone at our company is extremely busy, so training people on a new product can be an …
Chose Miro
Miro was already chosen when I joined the company. I used to use murals and I prefer the design part of it. It is prettier, with more graphic options. However, Miro has terrific tools that Miro hasn´t.
Chose Miro
I really didn't compare Miro to other products - it was something I saw someone use in a meeting and loved and saw the need to incorporate into my own meetings. This slowly picked up throughout the organization.

Miro
Miro is well suited for project kick-offs and numerous UX, Business Analysis type projects. It is super easy to collaborate with your team including sharing work. The outputs are great and templates on Miroverse offer great inspiration for different types of projects you may need. I have found it is less appropriate when needing outputs in Powerpoint and this integration would be ideal as for the type of work I often do, I need the outputs to be editable and final versions to be in Powerpoint for the client.

Qualtrics is a good medium for creating surveys and getting analytics back for it. I think it's easy to learn if you are in the business of creating surveys or if it's part of your studies. It can be a little overwhelming for a brand new user who has never created a survey for the first time. So onboarding could be better.

Pros
Miro
  • Allows for multiple people to use the same board at the same time.
  • Low barrier to entry - very easy to understand how to add information to a sticky even for non-tech-savvy people.
  • Easy to create designs from a blank canvas.
  • Can add in other documents (images, pdfs) easily and include them in the brainstorm.

  • Qualtrics CoreXM is easy to use for quick one-time surveys or for measuring opinions over time
  • It's great for sending/managing RSVPs for meetings or other gatherings or to collect important data like Conflict of Interest declarations.
  • Qualtrics CoreXM's reporting and crosstab functionality is beefy and gets better all of the time. I'm always amazed at how easy it is to generate reports for sharing my survey response data and research.

Cons
Miro
  • Editorial rights, as an expert user I want to help others (the creators) of the file but I'm not able to start timers or lock certain templates.
  • Anonymous voting is great, but we still prefer (visual) voting dots.
  • Ordering presentations from left to right/top to bottom with a button in stead of ordering one by one.
  • Export to pdf, if you make a presentation to export parts of it easily. The 'export selected' has not once worked for me.

  • The collaborate feature can be clunky and sometimes we have to remove access and add a person back in for them to see the survey in their lists
  • We have a contract through our university and more than one person has created their account in the wrong place, causing some administrative headaches as that is fixed so that we can collaborate on surveys with them.
  • I wish it was easier to organize my surveys into folders, there should be a more efficient way to do that.

There is no other tool like Miro for process Mapping in particular. I've tried PowerPoint, Word, and other programs, but when collaborating virtually on how to improve a process, Miro has all of the tools and more to enable successful mapping. The colors, different types of shapes and text books, along with the ability to integrate different documents and other functionality, make it ideal for this purpose. In a virtual world, it's a must-have.

I was impressed a couple years ago when two heads of market research at Fortune 500 companies told me about them, and I've been even more impressed with the advancements I've seen in the last year. I like where the company is headed, and I look forward to using them again in a future role.

Usability
Miro
I would rate Miro's overall usability a 10 as well. The platform's intuitive design and user-friendly interface make it incredibly easy to navigate and use, even for those who are new to it. The drag-and-drop functionality, along with a wide range of templates and tools, allows for seamless collaboration and creativity. Additionally, the real-time collaboration features enable our team to work together efficiently, regardless of location. The integration with other tools we use daily further enhances our workflow, making Miro an indispensable part of our toolkit. Overall, Miro's usability has significantly improved our productivity and collaboration, making it a top choice for our team.

All the menus are very user friendly and intuitive. I can always find exactly what I'm looking for and can change anything I need to with ease. All the elements of the survey are adjustable with very little effort and without confusion.

Reliability and Availability
Miro
I only give a 9/10 because of the speed at which it loads. I have never experienced issues with Miro logging me out early, or some other technical issue causing the program to crash, or even it just loading in perpetuity without ever actually coming up (unlike other programs such as SFDC). It take a minute for all of my boards to come up after I click on it in my favorites, but besides that, it's all good.

Performance
Miro
I took the loading quickly to be related to availability which I commented on before, so ditto with those comment on load time here. Although to reemphasize, Miro doesn't crash or just refuse to load like some other programs. The weak point of Miro for me is integration of files like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint (especially the later two). When you embed these, it gets slow, and complicated to bring them up while you're in the application.

Support Rating
Miro
We have never reached out to or contacted support because Miro's platform has been incredibly intuitive and user-friendly. The comprehensive resources available, such as tutorials, documentation, and community forums, have provided all the guidance we needed. The seamless integration with our existing tools and the reliability of the platform have ensured that we rarely encounter issues that require external assistance. This self-sufficiency has allowed us to focus more on our projects and collaboration without interruptions. Overall, our experience with Miro has been smooth and efficient, eliminating the need for additional support

Whenever we have had an issue with trying to figure out how to do something (even though the documentation is incredibly well put together) we have asked Qualtrics support and have always received our answer nearly immediately (I think in maybe 10 times, only once did a support person need to call us back). Qualtrics support is dedicated to solving customer issues right, and in the first contact, if at all possible

Online Training
Miro
There was a series of webinars which Miro hosted with our organization that went over the basics, then progressively became more advanced with additional sections. The instructors were knowledgeable, and provided examples throughout the sessions, as well as answered peoples' questions. There was ample time and experience on the calls to cover a range of topics. The instructors were also very friendly and sociable, as well as honest. Of course Miro isn't a "God-tool" that does absolutely everything, but the instructors were aware and emphasized the strengths where Miro had them and sincerely accepted feedback.

I still use it. It does everything you need an online survey to do. From heat mapping to complex skip logic and display logic. I use it weekly and it never disappoints

Implementation Rating
Miro
There is no special implementation; when one team member starts using it, the rest of the team joins and begins to discover useful functions. Additionally, there is no special scenario for using the tool; designers will use it their way, researchers will utilize other plugins and frameworks, and marketers will find their tools.

Alternatives Considered
Miro
Miro is the best product out of these options for collaborative brainstorming and presentation. Miro has the best organization tools when it comes to tables, kanban, etc. all in one place alongside a visual workboard. Each of these products beats Miro at specific aspects, but Miro is the best overall product for simultaneously and asynchronously coordinating a creative project with a medium sized team.

]Qualtrics] CoreXM is great if you want something that is a little more [long] lasting and impactful than a simple survey engine, but aren't quite ready for something that is a long term sustainable program. I would put [Qualtrics] CoreXM squarely in the large, defined project phase. CX is more of the program phase, and other lessor vendors are great for the pre-project definition phase

Scalability
Miro
Miro is great for scaling. In every department and subdivision across my entire organization, there is someone using it. From Sales to marketing, to manufacturing and operations; and even in legal and finance, there isn't a process or a department that is not using Miro, and if they aren't, they're missing out! Even at the highest to the lowest levels of the organization, it is essential for virtual collaboration.

Return on Investment
Miro
  • I can't speak to improvement; I can only talk to it about enabling what was previously impossible: collaboration on whiteboarding activities and diagram building.
  • the ROI has been increasing visibility on important topics to my team with other teams.
  • Not sure about ROI, but having Miro or not is the difference between doing business or not for me.

  • Increased productivity due to the highly intuitive user-interface and template saving capabilities.
  • Reporting and analytics are extremely valuable. Our team can track responses and share feedback/results extremely quickly.
  • If a user has created a great template, they can share to external teams quite easily. It helps other departments!
