NetSuite CRM

On an operations level, NetSuite CRM is really good. It is easy to navigate inventory and allocate orders under the appropriate department for revenue or warranty. I feel there are more suited CRM's that are much more user friendly for ticketing systems.

QuoteWerks

QuoteWerks really shines in its flexibility and powerful integrations with multiple CRM/account systems. It is well suited for technical users but isn't as streamlined as some of the more vertical integrations like the ones that exist between ConnectWise Sell and Manage. Their commitment to offering reasonable pricing without moving to a per user/month model also makes it attractive for companies trying to save money on recurring monthly spend.

  • It has a great UI for ERP and provides in-depth reporting and budget planning. NetSuite allows alot of flexibility to build the system out to how your company does business. Our accounting department really likes the Adaptive Planning module as well, as they can provide and quickly turn around presentation-worthy reports.
  • Due to the robust features and functionality of NetSuite, it is easy to customize and put workflows and formulas into practice when necessary to create efficiencies.
  • NetSuite provides the full solution to a business, by tying all systems together for one source of the truth.

  • QuoteWerks integrates well with our ERP, Connectwise and pulls the information back and forth well between the two.
  • QuoteWerks integrates with our Distributors, Ingram Micro and Tech Data and pulls current pricing into the quote, which saves time having to go back and forth between applications.
  • QuoteWerks provides professional looking quotes that we can submit to our customers.

Cons

  • NetSuite is very good at customization, but sometimes it's hard to make the right customization that we need for particular situations
  • NetSuite likes to change the layout without notifying it's users, so you might go home one day, and come back the next day to the office and have to do some searching to find what you're looking for in NetSuite.
  • If you have an issue with NetSuite, it's really difficult to understand the technical support staff as they're from India and don't speak clear English.

  • There is much room for improvement in setting up new users and transferring QW from one computer to another. You have to call QW and get a seed number which can at times be a hassel for a California based business because QW support works 9 to 5 Eastern Standard - A little extra time in the afternoon would be much appreciated
  • The pricing for Quote valet combined with the cost for annual update maintenance puts it in the price range of web based subscription programs
  • The program needs to run on a users computer and therefore when there is a computer problem the rep can't quote - As noted above it is a hassle to set up new users or transfer the program. This shortcoming is a serious one and made us consider a web based quoting solution. However, as of this date none of them offer the functionality of QW. However, the technology is moving fast and I will continue to look for the day when I am not dependent on an individual machine.

Our company is looking for more advanced ecommerce and internet marketing features that are not currently present in NetSuite. We feel there are too many additional costs to NetSuite to make it "our own" and understand at the same time that no software is perfect out of the box. Not having complete control of our customer data worries us, and the slowness or "lag" in the shopping cart is effecting our checkout flow. For the investment, we would not recommend businesses of our size to migrate to NetSuite but rather build in house.

Although I have been using QuoteWerks for 15 years, there are still many features in the current version I have not fully explored. It's just *that* feature-rich! Still, there are other features and online delivery methods currently awaiting, plus new features I am very excited to engage. The price of QuoteWerks is also quite reasonable, keeping our data exactly as we want it - on premise and affordable!

In my experience: bugs in the software are rare; any crashes or system failures are usually due to other infrastructure issues rather than the software itself, i.e. a problem with the network or server, an issue with a.n.other piece of software on the User's workstation that has a knock-on effect on QuoteWerks.

Once set up and running, and particularly when running the more reliable, faster Corporate edition rehosted to SQL Server, then QuoteWerks performs very well. The only reason for the slight mark down here is that QuoteWerks is very sensetive to having a database connection. If there is an issue whereby the connection to the server is lost (network glitch for example) then whereas Outlook (or a.n.other piece of software) might just wait and poll in 30 seconds time, QuoteWerks will crash and potentially a User lose all changes to the document(s) that they were working on.

For simple issues (that can be answered by reading the documentation) NetSuite support seems to have a good ability to resolve our issues. Unfortunately, anything beyond that ability requires escalation into the black hole of their Tier II / Tier III Support.

I do not have any key insights on the implementation so I cannot provide any valuable information here. I do know, however, that the process went well when we switched from a old platform to a new hyperconverged solution to host Quotewerks. It seemed to be a quick process and our engineer was able to do so almost seamlessly.

At the time that we selected QuoteWerks there was not quoting software "married" to ConnectWise. We viewed both products and since the products were very similar we chose the product that more closely fit our budget. QuoteWerks fit the bill.

We've implemented QuoteWerks in both micro ("one man band") businesses as well as much larger organisations. With QuoteWerks Corporate editions option to host the backend database on SQL Server (a very powerful and scaleable database platform) it's possible to work effectively with QuoteWerks in an organisation with many 100 Users. The flexibility of the product also lends itself very well to evolving with a growing business and having various individual user configurations to help them work best with the software in their individual role in the organisation.

  • Support can see what services is doing and vice versa. Finance can see both too.
  • Support can provide leads to sales when a power user leaves a current customer and joins the team at a lead.
  • We can see NPS and CSat near time on the account which has increased our ability to mitigate at-risk accounts and increase retention

  • Positive: organized, consistent quotes
  • Positive: reduced time to generate/modify quotes
  • Negative: has sometimes given our customers the false impression that we are providing an exact quote, not a cost estimate. We have been trying several different ways of expressing this on the quote.
