Subscription-based billing where usage fluctuates is what NetSuite SuiteBilling was made for. The ability to add and remove products to a subscription is equally useful. Companies with flat-rate pricing and limited product offerings likely would not see much benefit.

Revenue recognition is a big issue for SaaS companies whether or not they are audited. SaaSOptics was built around the idea of proper revenue recognition per GAAP. If you have contract with more than 15 customers and need to track those contract expirations, bill the customers, and are concerned with revenue recognition, then the product works well.

Salesforce offered a similar product; however, our revenue is not currently handled by Salesforce; NetSuite SuiteBilling handles it. Keeping rev rec in one area was essential to us as well as receiving the proper support for a reasonable price.

SaaSOptics

Insight Squared did not integrate with HubSpot which is what we use as our CRM. We chose SaaSOptics because it offered GAAP compliant revenue recognition, great reporting, and the user experience quality was high.
