Raiser's Edge NXT

There are not too many options out on the market for a solution like this. Raiser's Edge [NXT] seems to have a lock on this industry and lots of people are locked in to this. The NXT platform is not the same as the database view, which then requires a lot of database editing rather than staying on the online tool. The NXT side should have some upgrades in order to get this up to speed.

Pros

Netsuite SuiteSuccess

  • Our highly-customized approval routing for expense reports creates ease and flexibility for our accounting department.
  • Using the non-profit features, we are now able to track donations at both the household and individual levels. Having the option to run donor reports on a single person or on the whole household has cut down lots of hours that was spent on manual data manipulation.
  • With financial segmentation, we can easily track expenses by location, department, and grants.

Raiser's Edge NXT

  • The implementation team is great to work with - they walk you through step-by-step, and try to make sure that mapping is correct before any data is transferred, which saves a lot of time, effort, and cleanup after the conversion.
  • The mobile app is great - allows development personnel to quickly add or update information on donors on-the-spot and provides a snapshot of the donor's record.
  • The dashboard and reporting features are very handy, easy to maneuver and personalize to the needs of the organization/user. Information can be seen at a glance for an overall view of any particular data.

Cons

Netsuite SuiteSuccess

  • It does NOT have a fully-functional CRM. We cannot readily see donor data in on easy place.
  • The layout of the budget doesn't lock column and row headers, so you cannot see the cell you're entering budget values.
  • There are too many challenges to note. We have tried working with their support team, and they were unable to fix the many, many problems we were having. It was that interaction that helped solidify the decision to find a different CRM and Accounting solution(s).

Raiser's Edge NXT

  • Without it being a fully functioning system as of 4/15/2021 there are a few drawbacks.
  • The web-based view is nice but feels like it takes longer to search records and open them.
  • The different nomenclature can get confusing for old school fundraisers, especially those who have used the RE Database.
  • Inability to remove duplicate records completely/delete records.
  • Forms will duplicate records at a higher level than those who work in Online Express currently

There is simply no better or easier to use product on the market for fundraising and constituent management. Blackbaud is continually making updates based on user input, so big problems get fixed within a decent turnaround time. Customer service is top of the line, too. It is accessible to everyone, regardless of experience working with similar programs, so a brief tutorial is all you need to be up and running.

The only reason I cannot give a 10 is because like all web based products, internet connection is required and that is not something that can be counted on 100% of the time. When the internet connection is stable, I have had little to no issues using Raiser's Edge.

NXT itself is a pretty simple interface, and is great for front-line fundraisers to be able to look up info and run some simple "reports"/analysis. It's very quick and intuitive, but the back-end attached to it (RE 7.96) may have connectivity issues from time to time. NXT itself, though, is simple enough that issues are rare.

If you didn't sign up for the extra hours of customer service after implementation it can sometimes be hard to identify "live" help. They do have a great online help papers area and a community board that other users can answer questions to help with. That has been really helpful in identifying help when needed.

Raiser's Edge generally has excellent training, and NXT is no exception. Trainers are energetic, enthusiastic, patient and often will stay behind after to help you with specific tasks and answer organization-specific questions. They are their to help and it shows. They also often encourage participants to share solutions with each other--it's always nice to know how other organizations do things and see if any tricks others have learned along the way work for you, and conversely share your tips and tricks with others

Raiser's Edge NXT

We use Donately as our forward facing donor platform and it has the ability to function as a CRM. After many meetings and discussions it is without a doubt going to remain our donor platform and not a CRM. For us, Raiser's Edge NXT makes far more sense to keep our data organized, clean, and able to speak with our other suite of products seamlessly.

Features such as constituent mapping and easily accessible actions allow for more in-depth analysis of existing constituents. The future ability to manipulate soft-credits and customize reporting dashboards will make NXT even more attractive to our fundraisers and executives. It's great to see that the software is evolving.
