Likelihood to Recommend

NewsCred

Well-suited to large company blogs, like our company, a global SaaS. We have various blogs, in various languages, that use NewsCred to update to all our respective blogs. It's a great way to silo our different blog content, but also to peep at each other's content to repost to respective blogs. NewsCred is awesome in this context, but wouldn't be as useful to a one-person shop that only publishes original brand content. The platform is also great for organizations that need to supplement content with freelance writers and syndicated posts.

Visually

I would be less inclined to recommend Visually to a colleague now than I would have in the past. In the past, highly skilled freelance programmers and designers were more able to get matched with potential clients. Now, things have to go through Visually and creators cannot post their independent work and get matched up independently.

Pros

NewsCred

  • The UI is intuitive and easy for users to navigate, and also easy for me to manage.
  • NewsCred constantly rolls out great new features that solve user pain, like Track Changes, Version History and automated suggestions for posts to create and boost based on their performance.
  • Support is very helpful when anything goes wrong, and the account reps are very proactive in gathering feedback about needed features.

Cons

NewsCred

  • Too basic
  • Limited functionality
  • Unorganized

Visually

  • There is a bias towards infographics (as opposed to 'real' data visualization)
  • It is not very clear the path between how people who need content get matched up or find creators
  • Interface was redone too often

Alternatives Considered

NewsCred

NewsCred competes with Contently for content management and syndicated content/freelance writers. The interface for NewsCred is much prettier than Contently and they have a more robust platform for all things content marketing. I haven't delved much further into NewsCred competitors.

Visually

I would recommend other design studios that specialize in data visualization and infographics before visually for a few reasons:- small design studios have an emphasis on the creators (who is part of the studio), whereas Visually is more of a black box because you don't know who is creating your project- Portfolio is okay, but not great, there are many other studios with better looking portfoliosOne way that Visually is better is that it has an impressive client list and quicker turnaround and maybe more streamlined feedback loops.

Return on Investment

NewsCred

  • The analytics enables us to much more quickly and accurately determine which of our content is producing high levels of engagement.

Visually

  • Was helpful in attracting clients when I started doing data visualization work
  • Cost was minimal - it was free to upload and took little time
  • I have been unable to attract clients lately from visually, so ROI has gone to 0
