Likelihood to Recommend

Node.js

If you need a fast, robust and reliable server side framework that allows you to write JS on the backend and therefore have your project in one language - Node.js is a stand out choice. It can easily handle heavy traffic on very little resources (CPU and memory usage is very efficient). I can't recommend it enough, it is such a pleasure to work with - I feel it gave me back my career. I was so bored with the banality of .NET, I had also come to dislike it's overly convoluted and complicated class structure. Node.js was the fresh start I needed, it can be as simple or as complicated as you like - but even at it's most complicated it can still beat the pants off .NET core any day.

Qlik Analytics Platform

Qlik Analytics Platform is very well suited when you have a complex type of data set and you need some fast analysis on connecting the data and finding insights. It helps to find good relations. However, I do find it creating issues when I need to teach it to a new person. There is some training required which can create slow development.

Qlik Analytics Platform

  • Some of our team feel that the licensing model was really too restrictive for us when we made the purchase and that given the same choice again, we might think twice about jumping in, but because we've already made that initial investment it's worth sticking with it. We don't think we get great value out of it because we only use it for a relatively small number of deployments. With that said, Qlik's licensing model is changing/has changed, so that might not be as much of an issue for new customers.
  • The Qlik Sense engine which powers the visualizations is in constant development, which is good, but in our current installation still lacks some capabilities -- for example, it only recently got the ability to change the thickness of lines in line graphs! The default options look good but more presentational flexibility obviously will help us tailor and align our public offerings to our corporate brand and presentation.
  • I'd really like them to look again at how they segment their product licenses to make the basic tools more appealing to low-complexity/low volume users like our local government setting.

Support Rating

Node.js

Node.js 6.4
Based on 1 answer
Node.js is easy and good to use, their support team is also good they always tend to help you, and solve your problem, even we know that Node is free to use and opensource but then also we get support from them but for getting much better results we need to purchase standard or enterprises support provided by them.

Qlik Analytics Platform

Qlik Analytics Platform 8.4
Based on 4 answers
Qlik is great for companies with lots of business domains and departments because it scales well, especially if data that is reported is saved in SQL and similar structures. Its ease of use and good UI enables business units to create and manage their own reports. That removes a great burden of creating and managing/modifying these pages from the IT team. Overall, it's a win-win for both IT and business units.

Alternatives Considered

Node.js

Other alternatives would be Python or Ruby, both of which are inferior in terms of performance, usability, scalability, and error handling.

Qlik Analytics Platform

Compared to other products, I found that Qlik Analytics Platform caters to wider data sets. The implementation was quick and required fewer dependencies. I also found the visualizations better than other tools. The initial loading was fast and worked quickly. The dashboards were fast and easy to deploy. Teams loved it compared to the demos we had with other products.
