  • Especially if you are working in the banking area, IT workers must use ObserveIT to provide more detailed evidence to audits.
  • You don't need to give a firewall permission to a client, you can easily do it by giving permissions to the ObserveIT server. By doing this, you will be able to understand why he/she needs this permission without asking.

Gigya is a good product overall. It's great for going from "non-social" to 'highly-social" very rapidly. But as needs become more complex over time, the value starts to decrease a bit.

  • Gigya provide a range of flexible APIs which support the development of bespoke engagement tools. They also provide out of the box engagement tools like comments and reactions.
  • Gigya's identity query tool makes it straightforward for users to query the user database using straightforward SQL queries.
  • Gigya's cloud storage is a safe and secure alternative to self-hosted databases.

  • You need to make a better optimization work on its database servers. It may cause problems working itself properly.
  • After upgrading its agents, it may give some false positive alerts like "Agent not reporting" while it reporting.
  • Archiving technology must be improved. When you restart that appliance, it needs more tuning on it to make it right.

  • Nothing obvious. Some editors and traffickers want a more detailed analytics package. Gigya reports are pretty basic. There is a strong need for more advanced analytics and automated reports.
  • We have talked to Gigya about it, and they are working on it.

Admin panel is very clean and effective and manageable. Can't say enough good things about the UI. It's easy to use and enables to configure embeddable widgets by simply copying and pasting Java Script examples.

There are some latency issues. The 24 hour caching problem mentioned earlier is a problem. Sometimes the Gigya system makes two calls instead of a single call if we go directly to the social platform. For this reason, it's sometimes more efficient to go direct rather than use Gigya.

Fantastic support team. Very proactive. Not only do they answer questions in a timely manner, but they proactively show us whats coming in next releases. I can also share what I would like to see. They are very honest about what they can do, and what is not likely to be on the roadmap.
I never get any push-back from them about the hours of support. They are always willing to help.
They are also great about suggesting best practices that we might not have thought about. In other words, "Have you thought about doing it this way...".

We had multiple conference calls initially to get up and running. The developers had frequent status calls. But we generally didn't require much training. We have a large technical staff that didn't need much had-holding.

There was a bit of a learning curve in the beginning, and perhaps we were unclear on some of our requirements. Once they figured out what we wanted though, things went pretty smoothly. Just some minor hiccups in the beginning

Forcepoint Insider Threat is a new product and also it supports DLP(we were using Forcepoint DLP), that's why we did trial of this. As I said before, it's a new product on this area and its support level were low, on the other hand ObserveIT vendors gave support when we had a problem. That was the key point on our decision.

The three names that we were given to evaluate against Gigya by our tiger team were Bitium, OneLogin, and Janrain. The last one was just too new to the game, so after a brief review, we passed. We moderately considered Bitium, but OneLogin seemed to win against them more than they lost. In the end, it came down to Gigya versus OneLogin, and we decided to go with Gigya because of the overwhelming reviews of the outstanding customer service.

Return on Investment

  • As I previously mentioned about this, we were able to give more detailed evidence to the Internal/External Audit team. Audit teams were understanding all of the logs better.
  • A new feature with the newer version of it, like UEBA, we can find the riskier users by looking user's suspicious activities. This feature gave ObserveIT more credit on our bank.
  • Actually, there were no negative impacts on our objectives.
