Hightail is my go-to source when I need to send large files that would never fit as regular attachments. That being said, sometimes there are files that would perfectly fit as attachments but I want the security that Hightail provides when sending sensitive or private material. It's very comforting knowing that the content I'm sending is only being received and viewed by the intended parties. It's also comforting for my clients when it's THEIR content that I'm sending for review.

TickTick
TickTick works well for personal use - managing daily and/or recurring to do's through a variety of lists. These can be renamed as needed. This has contributed to an increase in the completion of projects for me. TickTick also works well for collaboration on a list by list basis. Say that I have a project at work that I need to work with a teammate on - I can create the list and share it with my teammate. From there we can tag-team the project. There is the option for adding to-do lists inside of a top-level list and areas for commenting by the collaborators. This allows us to bypass unneeded meetings or emails to remember what needs to be done next on the project. TickTick may be less suited for situations where photos or files need to be shared for a project or for more complex project management.

Cons
OpenText
  • Some of our recipients are not very tech-savvy and can get confused with how to download a file. There is some room for improvement by making it clearer where the user should click to download the file.

  • The task reminders are in the form of a notification - it would be nice to have an email option.
  • All tasks due on the same day/time show up as one notification versus separate - this can be hard to separate as far as task planning goes.

Honestly, once we started using Google Drive more efficiently and saw what improvements OpenText Hightail had made, it was hard to choose. But now that we more consistently use Google Drive, I use it probably 75% more than I use OpenText Hightail for the same tasks. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be a customer at OpenText but it's great to have both options.

TickTick has a better UI and UX compared to the other competitors, and the Quick Add feature from any window is a must for inbox task management!

  • Hightail simply saves time. We no longer struggle with trying to meet the requirements of OutLook. When we have a file that is too large to send via OutLook we just "hightail it".

  • The free feature is quite enough for normal user, but PRO also is not too expensive
