Oracle BPEL

We found it to be most useful when developing workflows based on several disparate applications. Our end user reporting was, frankly, disorganized and there was no apparent logic system to how the process ought to function. As we had made the move to adopt Oracle and its suite of programs as our standard, it made cross functionality/integration very easy for our IT development team as well.

Oracle Integration (OIC)

For all type of integration except those with a huge volume. It can deal with 20MB of transactions and processing of 1GB file when a file is being read using file or FTP adapters. It cannot be used for EDI as this support is not there. OICS is a perfect fit for other integration and is best when a customer has Oracle applications in the landscape. It is even greater if you have a requirement to create a custom form and make use of Process Cloud. All of these work very well together seamlessly. API needs can be handled by APIary.

Pros

Oracle BPEL

  • Very user friendly and easy to use. The drop and drop feature makes it a breeze to create different system operations.
  • Integration with other Oracle applications is a cinch and the visibility into IT is also very accessible.
  • Much faster development time, especially when writing a process from scratch.

Oracle Integration (OIC)

  • It addresses the business problems of integrating oracle ERP and other cloud solutions with third party systems.
  • Oracle Integration Cloud is used for integrating with different systems together. The systems could be on premise or on the Cloud.
  • Chatbots built for the PeopleSoft systems are deployed on Oracle Digital Assistant. The Chatbot and the PeopleSoft talk through the Integration Cloud using the REST APIs.

Cons

Oracle BPEL

  • We used cross reference tables frequently at my company which is currently not supported through Oracle BPEL. Adding this functionality would be very beneficial.

Oracle Integration (OIC)

  • Currently, it is not retaining the logs for more than 3 days, which it needs to address.
  • We also need some functionality inside the interface to re-push the same transaction again so that it will be helpful while testing and fixing the issue.
  • Also, some log errors are not giving the correct details. Oracle needs to rectify those.

Oracle Integration (OIC)

Oracle Integration (OIC) Cloud is a new iPaaS that makes it very easy to connect ERP applications with Salesforce.com. They have pre-built connectors that eliminate errors by not having to worry about all the connection details needed to make sure the data mapping is accurate. This cloud service is much more competitive price-wise because you pay by the hour.

Return on Investment

Oracle BPEL

  • Reporting time decreased in many cases by up to several hours as much of what we had been doing was manual or time consuming.
  • Reports themselves were faster based on the application processes we developed as well as the end user retrieval of said reports.

Oracle Integration (OIC)

  • Created a solution for unique business integration with minimal processing times
  • Saves my team about 7 hours per week because of how it communicates with all the information. Because it communicates faster, and because there's a lot of information to communicate with, another solution might not work.
