Udemy aims to supply scalable learning for organizations of every size. Nonprofit pricing is available for all registered 501(c)3 organizations.
Schoology does the job well enough, but there are enough areas of contention that make advanced use of the system unwieldy. District staff does not have easy reporting ability to determine adoption and use of the platform without having to export to another program for analysis. The reliability of the system is a huge pain point as we need to deliver the curriculum but cannot count on it being available when we need to use it.
Enrolling is very easy and [accessible], courses are varied and quite intriguing, the specifics of every course given are quite useful for current businesses because you can educate your colleagues or your team through this tool and hit the ground running. This is very simple, online courses are super easy to access and very well programmed. The speed of the courses is also [adequate].
Massive Course Catalog - Udemy has a tremendous selection of courses, enabling my reports to find pretty much any course they might be interested in.
Multi-platform streaming - Udemy for Business offers apps across several different platforms, enabling my reports to be able to learn in the way they want to, at a time that is convenient for them.
Learning Management - Udemy for Business offers me data and metrics on how my employees are engaging with their learning.
While this product constantly seeks to make improvements, certain features need tweaking. As educators enroll in various courses, these course tend to accumulate. If the educator is not an administrator of the course, it is next to impossible to get out.
Switching from one course/group to another course/group takes several steps. Not always easy to find the course/group needed.
The self learning part of assignments that I see in Udemy for Business are oversimplified and does not reflect actual complex scenarios that we see in major corporate offices. While it's easier to understand a course if the assignment is simple, Udemy for Business needs to have courses on more complex topics
The content is generic in nature and is not tailored at an individual or professional level. For example, If I'm a product manager for pricing, I will find ton on courses which explains about existing pricing strategies. This is the basic thing and what i'm looking for is something that goes beyond these basic concepts
there are too many courses that explains the same concept with almost 90% overlap. Finding the right content takes lot of time. It would be great if Udemy for Business could tell me what is the percentage overlap with the courses that I have already taken and recommend me better courses based on my needs
While we have taken time to re-evaluate our selected 1:1 devices, Schoology's impact on student learning is unquestioned. Students are able to connect with other learners, create and share products of their learning, and develop their digital fluency through their use of Schoology.
It's very easy to use Schoology. As with any LMS, it helps to learn some tips and tricks prior to getting started. But, each item is clearly indicated within the platform. If I want to add materials, it is right at the top of my screen. If I want to view the calendar, it is indicated to the right of my screen. Navigating a course and the platform is quite straightforward. Additionally, the benefit of Schoology's help center and user community makes asking and answering questions quick and easy.
Generally good, but issue self-reporting has become a problem. When there are issues, it can be 20 minutes to an hour before it gets noted on the status page
We have county-level support and district-level support, but their HELP page offers everything that is needed to answer questions and to find "how-to" information for staff. This includes video and written directions for every available feature. Schoology has also worked with our district to improve their product.
The support is fantastic. As soon as you enroll you will get a learning consultant and success manager who take care of your learning journey by helping you along the way until you complete the course. We also get informed about new courses added and any author announcements etc.
Sit and get with very little hands-on time. 5 minutes to try out a feature/question type, etc. is not enough time. Once your training is done, there is no option for new employees to get that training without having to rebook and pay for the training again. If you pay for basic training, that should be available to a district to use in the future.
I have taught using both Edmodo and Google Classroom. While both were easier than Schoology was to get in the beginning, Schoology is infinitely more powerful than either of them was. I can do so much more, and differentiate so much easier using Schoology than I could with either of my previous LMSs.
Udemy for Business is a competent alternative to other business education tools on the market, it provides applicable content that enables users to study at their own pace. Some areas they can improve: adding engaging videos for learning, and a badge that can be placed on users LinkedIn account after they have been certified for a particular skill or topic
We use it 5-12 so scalability is not an issue but sharing materials between departments including common assessments is difficult without paying for add-on features
The most important impact Udemy has had in our Business is that continuing education is making them happier for a low cost, and everyone can choose a topic of their interest and the interest of the company.
It has reduced the amount of people quitting their jobs because we care about their personal growth.
Some of our areas have become more efficient.
Remember that it is less expensive to train people even if they leave your company than it is having someone not trained with a lack of knowledge in your company!
