Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate

Sage is not at all well suited for small companies who want an agile, nimble setup for quick moving situations and mobile use. These type of companies should look elsewhere such as a SaaS offering from another vendor. In addition Sage is very expensive both in its initial outlay and ongoing support.Medium and larger sized companies benefit from a Sage install much more than the smaller constructor. Having the modules all work in unison is important when a company is of a certain size as is having the long tenured support structure. In addition Sage requires the terminals services setup to use it remotely and the larger companies are more likely to have the infrastructure and support for that type of setup

LIES! LIES! LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Service Titian caused us so much grief and our company thousand's of dollars. They promised us they work well with our Quickbooks program. LIES! The amount of hours we spent on the phone with them, they should be paying me! All the issues that came about, they didn't even know how to fix themselves. We had to wait days for them to come up with solutions and call us back. So many batch's we transferred over to Quickbooks the amounts were completely wrong, doubled our transactions, or put into the wrong place. As you can see with other reviews the managed tech's price is outrageous. As well as the time cards, we always had errors we had to fix with that as well. DO NOT USE SERVICE TITIAN, IT WILL MAKE YOUR JOB 1000X HARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAY TOO COMPLICATED THEN IT NEEDS TO BE AND HALF THE EMPLOYEES DON'T KNOW HOW TO HELP YOU.

Pros

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate

  • There are a lot of ways to drill down into information. The ability to run inquiries that can be easily exported into Excel is incredibly useful.
  • The help desk is very helpful. There are multiple ways to get a hold of someone and it is extremely useful.
  • The knowledgebase articles are very helpful and provide a lot of great detail.

  • Real-time tracking. The biggest problem in logistics in, my opinion, is knowing if your products are arriving on time or not especially as it pertains to food, that was huge here.
  • Most of our managers travel constantly from corporate to distribution because of how centralized the company is they needed something flexible that allowed them to run reports whenever and however.
  • Ease of use - I'll be honest in that our employees are not the cream of the crop as it pertains to their education, this software made the learning process simple.

Cons

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate

  • Although Sage is much easier to use with the new upgrade, it still could use improvement with load times with invoice searches.
  • Sage 300 could also include drone uploads to view inventory snapshots.
  • Upgrades can also be less complicated and not require higher-level support to implement.

  • We'd like to be able to text estimates (currently, email is the only function)
  • We'd like to have audit trails on Customer and Location records (currently only at the job level)
  • We'd like to be able to email/text the customer multiple options within estimates, like the techs can do on their tablet, it's just not a function that can be presented by the office.

Usability

Sage is somewhat easy to use as far as its simplicity, however, when I first started using it I really wished there were more training materials available. As I did research to figure out what resources were there to learn how to use the paid software, all I found were courses you have to pay for. In my personal opinion, I don't think you should have to pay to learn how to use a software you bought.

Their support services are strong once you start talking to them. There is often a long wait for support if you try to call them on the phone. I also find it challenging to do support via e-mail because of the time lag and the simplex form of communication.

Alternatives Considered

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate

We currently have Sage in place which handles the majority of our business needs on the back end, but compared to some others that are on the market like Builder Trend, it does lack the client facing side of the house. To make it a better product, a client facing portal would be best so they can be up to date.

No comparisons. Everyone tries to emulate Service Titan. Service Titan has had the best support. Service Titan also seems like they have a better development team to build out their product and listen to client feedback. Where that's helpful is that they're constantly pushing the envelope of what's possible with enhancing client experience and streamlining operations for a business owner.

Return on Investment

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate

  • Sage has completely changed our culture at my company. At first, our field reports were not detailed, as they were not giving us quantities to actually track the job. We had no clue what the progress of activities was, because it was a general 'How are things going?' "Good" conversation. Now we track our progress quantitatively.
  • We have been able to track and organize our change events to actually recognize revenue on particular jobs. We had so many Change events being lost and this simplified that. It allows us to pursue these events and actually recognize revenue. Overall this is an amazing benefit of Sage.
  • As an organization, we have been able to identify losing bid items and avoid those in the futures.

  • We can more effectively retain customers and send them offers if it's been a while since their last visit.
  • Our cash flow has dramatically improved because now the technicians invoice everything.
  • We can get estimates out the door within the hour, not days later.
