SailPoint Identity Platform

I believe SailPoint Identity Platform is well suited for large companies and those with a lot of users and applications. It would tremendously improve their security posture in terms of user account management. It may not be ideal for small companies that have less than 100 employees but it there's a way that they can accommodate those, then I think it would be great. In our experience, it works perfectly for those using Active Directory.

Wdesk

Wdesk is best suited for companies with demanding SEC filings and documents, with multiple revisions due to auditor/counsel review, and where financial reporting is extremely manual. Wdesk really helps take out the potential errors out of extremely manual processes, and helps automate regular financial reporting by allowing companies to link financial information and build customized flows of their information into financial statements and other documents (such as presentations or other internal reporting).

Pros

SailPoint Identity Platform

  • The access request work flow and back end process is exceptional. It effectively manages all of the various pieces of a request and presents the completed request to the provisioning agent as a single record. This is very helpful to the efficiency of the process since the provisioning agent only sees the completed request rather than seeing each component as it is approved. Other systems deliver the various request components to provisioning as they are approved but cannot be provisioned without all the components. Thus creating complexity for the provisioning agent and impacting the SLAs with what looks like a delay with the provisioning process.
  • The system is robust enough to effectively handle the scale that we need. With 750+ applications, 24,304 individual entitlements to select from, and an average of 10,200 request transactions per month. We have never had any performance issues.
  • The system flexible enough to accommodate our complex business needs without needing to customize the base system. We have been able to add significant functionality to the system in order to support the business needs by extending the code rather than altering the base code. This has enabled a simple upgrade of the system without having to re-apply code enhancements.

  • The biggest strength of the program for our team is that multiple users can work in the document at the same time. Multiple users can be in the program updating financial statements, footnotes, MD&A - all without stepping on each other's toes.
  • Rolling forward the documents from one period to the next is pretty simple. Links to source documents are maintained and new ones can be added without much hassle.
  • Edits and changes can be made right up until the last minute before filing. There is no waiting period or pencils-down period unless we enforce one ourselves - the Financial Reporting team is in control of the timing of our filings.

  • Technical adoption requires a high level of training and experience by the implementing teams.
  • SailPoint and partners offers very good training courses which I think are very good. An area of improvement can be in providing cloud VMs that users can work with to learn the IIQ tool more effectively at their own pace.

We believe that the usability of Wdesk is really very easy, accurate, reliable, and automated. The information in our documents is updated in real-time. The graphical interface is excellent, super friendly, and easy to see and use. No one has reported problems with using Wdesk. It is also easy to configure to limit the visibility of some specific information to specific users of the organization.

I have not had to deal with the Support Team, but overall our experience with the tool has been positive. They try to set new customers up for success from the start (I was part of the sales process, not the actual onboarding) and seemed to know that it’s a difficult transition, but worth it in the long run.

Support was better with IdentityIQ than with Oracle. Also, it was cheaper and did more.

We moved from a third party filer to doing it in house. Have seen demos of products like Active Disclosure, which has come a long way from the beta version I saw and but we are not too far gone with Wdesk for us to evaluate other products.When we first signed up with Webfilings, (former name of Workiva), there were no viable products in the market. I had seen an Oracle product and a beta version of Active Disclosure. It was not hard to see the ease and intuitive-screens, to guide one through the filing process. The excel-like spreadsheets were an added bonus.

  • Over time, IdentityIQ would save a lof of money and time by eliminating unnecessary paperwork in organizations.
  • By controlling access to applications, IdentityIQ reduces the risk of security breaches and hacks.
  • Self-service password reset and provisioning make this solution unique and would increase the efficiency and productivity of employees.

  • We spend less than we used to with a traditional printer.
  • We have been able to do turn-on-a-dime equity offerings with last minute changes and still file on time.
  • Inviting external legal into the platform has helped with communication but we actually suspect they spend MORE time (and billing) on our documents than they used to just simply because it's so easy to get at them anytime they want.
