Salesforce Lightning Platform (formerly Salesforce App Cloud)

Well suited / Poorly suited - really two sides of the same coin
  1. Company has management that will be willing to work in the system. Sometimes people are reluctant to learn something new.
  2. In house IT with developer skills. This is critical unless you either want to change your business to match Salesforce, or pay consultants a lot of money.
  3. Existing systems can be integrated, but you need that knowledge and access as well. Running Salesforce with connecting it will create a need for double data entry, If you have a locked down legacy system, you will have difficulty sharing data.

Zoho Creator

If you use excel, Zoho Creator is designed for you. The only scenario where it may not be appropriate is if you have thousands upon thousands lines of stored data where you would need to pay extra for this storage.

Pros

Salesforce Lightning Platform (formerly Salesforce App Cloud)

  • Reporting and Dashboards are thorough and can show a wealth of important data to inform and scale processes. It's helpful in a high volume sales cycle to be able to quickly identify weak points in performance and productivity so that adjustments can be made.
  • Highly customizable. We are able to customize just about everything which allows us to track very specific things and in theory create better efficiency.
  • Parent/Child account hierarchy exists which is helpful.
  • Contact records can be associated with multiple accounts and opportunities. This, in theory, should minimize duplicates and mismanagement of contacts.
  • Console helps a lot with data nesting. Having a fairly comprehensive look at an account without searching through various tabs and sections speeds up an otherwise cumbersome platform.

Cons

  • It can be a bit buggy at times, like randomly not letting you save or making you refresh the page or do the same action, and then it will save.
  • Bugs really are the main issue here. Otherwise it's great with reporting!

This builds off a number of things I have already mentioned. This question completely depends on the competence of the developer. This makes the user friendliness of the UI 50/50. However if you have the ability I would say it is quite UI friendly.

I gave 7 because it is better for internal use and internal solutions. If you need something to deliver to your clients (you will give them access to it), then you will have to work hard to give the layout a better look, and not use the using the standard template layout, which it's possible to do, but it will need an extra work.

Salesforce's support is top-notch. They have subject-matter experts that are accessible at all times to address needs as they come up. They let you know in advance when there are system updates and enhancements so that you are prepared for upcoming changes. I've never had an issue that wasn't addressed immediately when reaching out for support.

I recommend Zoho Creator very often. A lot of companies go big earlier than they need to and spend way too much on SalesForce & Marketo. I worked for a small company with some limited budget that pivoted to sell it's product to the Enterprise. Zoho Creator was incredibly easy to set up, intuitive to use, and contains all the most essential features that most users need and seek in SalesForce. We integrated with MailChimp & Unbounce and were able to be incredibly useful in acquiring leads, nurturing them, and tracking pipeline in Zoho Creator. Our small sales team found it very easy to use and loved it.

Salesforce Lightning Platform (formerly Salesforce App Cloud)

Salesforce is the premeire product. Period. The others are cheaper and less capable, they may fulfill your organisation's needs but you will always be looking at Salesforce with wishful eyes. If you are a company that needs to bootstrap then spend the time to evaluate your options. If you are a growing company with plenty of funding it is best to provide your sales team with the best platform you can afford because switching out CRM's is second in complexity to swapping out an ERP.

  • This has been a huge time waster for our team.
  • Load times are at least 3 times as long as they used to be.
  • Our workflows can not be as efficient as they used to be so we spend more time doing manual tasks.
  • More things have to be pushed through our ops team instead of being able to do them ourselves, which creates significant roadblocks.

  • We really have not tracked the savings in a dollar amount, but our overall ability to have a birds eye view of all of our courses and classes at any moment has been a great tool. And we save time when we need information about courses or classes because the reports are there and ready when needed.
