Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud

We used several other nonprofit CRM packages before going to Salesforce. We weren't ready before then. It helps to have an understanding of databases and what it is you want to record and report on. Having data just to have data doesn't do anybody any good. Using other software, I knew what functionalities were missing for what we needed and we were able to customize Salesforce to get where we needed to go. We used the volunteer management software for a couple of projects a few years ago but found it a bit clunky. It's been a couple of years so we will probably try it again to see if the user interface feels like a better fit for us.

Zoho CRM has a very simple dashboard you will never get in trouble to find the right CRM
management tool. It is designed in such a way the all the information related
to current and previous sales will be in front of you, by which you can further
take better progressive steps. Zoho
CRM has affected the progress of my organization, its smooth operation and intuitive interface is very easy to get started, no complex steps are involved in
its installation.

  • Lots of connection points. I can associate a contact with an organization, an event and a donation, easily bouncing between them and pulling reports accordingly. Love this!
  • This system has many more features than we will ever actually use but I love that because when we have a new idea or want to try something out we don't have to switch systems, we just have to dig a little deeper into salesforce and they probably have a solution waiting for us already.
  • Salesforce is great at training! I love their trailhead and have used it a lot, especially when I was just getting to know the system. It is easy, fun, informative, and always there to teach me something new. I can also go at my own pace instead of many people's models of training through webinars that are almost always at inconvenient times.

  • Learning curve - very powerful, but takes time to learn
  • Batch processing - takes time and advanced skills to reach efficiency for data entry and certain operations which you want to do in batch
  • Mass email is extremely limited - must choose a third party tool which adds complexity and cost to the system

  • I would say some UI enhancements, although this feature is on it's way with the soon to be released canvas builder. This will allow us to create a homepage view within each module so our users get all the important info they need in a beautifully designed layout to optimize their time spent in Zoho CRM.
  • The integrations with Zoho social, or other social media tools. This may stem from my lack of effort to better utilize this existing feature
  • To be honest I really can't say much is missing from Zoho CRM. One last thing to add is that there are so many functionalities of Zoho CRM that configuring each to optimize our teams success is difficult. It's important to take advantage of the features that best reflect our companies internal processes.

We went through an exhaustive process doing this evaluation and in the process took the time to really understand the objectives and requirements of all groups within the organization. Now that the system is in place it needs to be used and refined over a long period to time in order to get the full value. As a result you need to consider the long-term and renewal knowing that the system will get better the more you use it.

I think Salesforce has so much functionality that it makes it difficult in terms of overall usability. Once you can figure it out, it's a 10/10, it's just getting there. If you're willing to do the work to figure it out then you're golden. For what it's worth, I don't know if you're going to find something with this level of functionality that's easier to figure out

Overall this product is not easy to use, integrate or manage. I have used many different CRM platforms and I find this platform to cost a lot of time and stress trying to manage or integrate. There are many other options that will be a better purchase option, give a greater ROI and save your overall organization time in their day to day actions.

I would say the support for Salesforce for Nonprofits is overall pretty great, as they offer many avenues to find the information you need and offer nonprofits the ability to work with Salesforce-trained volunteers or professional for free, which is useful especially during the customization process. I will say that I have often encountered situations where I needed to figure out certain information that I could not find even amongst the vast network of knowledge they provide.

Sometimes they tell you to send an email, or they may be slow to actually solve the issue. They have support for paid and unpaid users, and chat, phone, email channels. You will be sure to reach someone, but in some cases you need a solution within a few hours and may have to wait a couple of days.

As a cloud native organization with no previous Microsoft infrastructure, Salesforce was a more logical and effective option for us. The suite of products was also far more comprehensive and required less customization. We were able to adopt a "configure not code" approach to our development of systems to support our mission that lowered the cost of upgrades.

Zoho CRM

ZoHo's reporting features are much simpler than Salesforce. Much more intuitive and simple.Salesforce has much more options - however they are more complicated to use. Salesforce reports pretty much must be setup by administrators. Lay users have not been able to quickly make reports as easily as they could would ZoHo.Salesforce has a console view that is much easier to utilize.

  • We get amazing power and functionality for a very low cost due to the foundation pricing.
  • We have experienced efficiencies in having all our work in one place. We have not assigned an ROI to this but work flow and a calmer work force has occurred.
  • The organization has grown through this time and the system has kept up and always been capable of supporting us in out increased work flow.
  • Salesforce consulting time is expensive and if not controlled it can get out of had very quickly. Again you need a plan and you need to stick to it.

  • Love it or leave it, a CRM is integral to sales operations. Zoho may not be the best, but it gets the job done.
  • When reps have consistently used it, sales and conversions have increased.
  • Great to have visibility across the organization and multiple tools without paying a fortune like some other CRMs
