SAP [Customer Data Solutions] is definitely a tool to use for managing a large individual database, especially globally. The question is more related to which methodology to use for implementing it between screen sets or APIs. In case you have to handle multiple languages, APIs should be the best option for you. Otherwise, screen sets would work well.

Tealium AudienceStream

Tealium AudienceStream is great if the user has familiarity with competitors like Azure, AWS, etc. But I would not recommend it to a beginner looking to leap into consumer data analytics in a company. The reason being is that at first glance the dashboard has too many options and while that seems to be an ironic statement, it would be easier for a beginner to get lost at this phase. An ideal person I would recommend this to would be an individual with intermediate knowledge of similar CRM software with a passion for learning in an environment that is interested in capturing that data.

  • Data redaction and retention help us to activate the right info to be accessed to the right customer and business user. This helps safeguard data from getting into third-party/cyber attackers.

  • AudienceStream allows me to expand on the data I'm already capturing about my visitors to the website, taking the data points and combining them to create and assign new definitions ("badges") to my visitors, which then allows me to enhance their experience with my company.
  • The APIs within AudienceStream expand the reach of all the data we collect and the new definitions we create - we are no longer limited to only using this data on our site directly, instead we can pass this information effortlessly through to other tools to increase the relevance of our other marketing efforts, be they email, retargeting, paid search, or even our call center and retail stores through a connection to our CRM system.
  • Audience Discovery within AudienceStream immediately provides insights to the folks on my website in real time, and also allows for historic views. I can slice the data in any way I choose to watch as visitors move through my site, gaining or losing badges as they perform various actions. I can then drill down into any group of visitors for the smallest of details, and use that to create new badges to use.
  • The tools Tealium provides, such as AudienceStream Trace, allow me to feel 100% confident that the tagging and defining I'm doing is correct, and working as expected.
  • Tealium's customer service is AMAZING - an entire team supports both your technical and strategic needs, and provides tools such as customer communities to help with learning.

  • Nothing obvious. Some editors and traffickers want a more detailed analytics package. Gigya reports are pretty basic. There is a strong need for more advanced analytics and automated reports.
  • We have talked to Gigya about it, and they are working on it.

  • Currently there is limited support for multiple environments (Dev, Test, Production).
  • Having concurrent users making changes can cause conflicts.
  • It takes longer to get up and running than we would have hoped, but that may be down to our internal speed.

It's worth it to us to have Gigya support these lower tier platforms. I might conceivably switch to another product that could do this as well and would consider supporting Facebook and Twitter directly in-house.

We mostly work with the API which is of very good quality and is well documented.However, some of our success is also due to having very talented developers on staff, and also understanding advanced gamification design. The tool supports a talented team! It won't actually do everything for you automatically.

Like I have mentioned, I have never discovered any drawback on SAP Customer Data Solutions. It’s readily available 24/7/12/365 with no downtime. I am sure if there would some time in the future, the vendor support team will rapidly solve the issue.

There are some latency issues. The 24 hour caching problem mentioned earlier is a problem. Sometimes the Gigya system makes two calls instead of a single call if we go directly to the social platform. For this reason, it's sometimes more efficient to go direct rather than use Gigya.

They trained me in a train the trainer model. I then trained the internal team. Total training was about two hours, with an additional two hours for system setup.
Training was maybe a little thin, but the system was fairly easy to learn and this wasn't really a problem.

There was a bit of a learning curve in the beginning, and perhaps we were unclear on some of our requirements. Once they figured out what we wanted though, things went pretty smoothly. Just some minor hiccups in the beginning

Both SAP Customer Data Solutions and Oracle CX Marketing are great and robust CDP tools. Nonetheless, SAP Customer Data Solutions is focused more on customer data management and marketing while Oracle CX Marketing fails to manage customer data since it’s more [on] campaign creation.

We looked at the Adobe solutions, Ensighten and Qubit, we choose Tealium because of value of having everything integrated. Plus we were an early adopter of Tealium's tag management and I was pleased with how that tool has matured over the last 3 years.
