Likelihood to Recommend Final Cut really is a great software for video editing (hey, The Matrix was made completely on Final Cut!), but for someone who works heavily in Photoshop, After Effects, Audition and Illustrator- it's probably best for you to stick with Premiere. If you are solely looking for a great editing software for your mac that is a step up from iMovie, Final Cut Pro X would be perfect for you.
Read full review When training others to use a software application, I find this is amazingly helpful to accomplish using screenflow. The application allows me to video what I am doing in the application while explaining it in details. There are other uses of course, one that I found was to capture myself talking through students' research papers/thesis and explain where changes need to be made. Of course, MS Word has the tracking changes option and a professor can go through sentence by sentence - the downfall of this is that students #1 - do not always understand what is being suggested as we all cut back on words when typed out versus spoken. #2 - students do not always read the added comments thoroughly. Viewers watch the video and listen to a voice quicker than reading remarks. The viewing and voice, in my opinion, are the greatest part of the end product provided to viewers. This tool can assist anyone's work that trains others...be it industry or educational fields.

Feature-rich toolset which allows for incredible product manipulation from the get-go Expandability via a vibrant plugin ecosystem. Final Cut plugins are broadly developed. Rich integration with studio products: Motion, Compressor Version updates exhibit a product team in touch with what the market needs Read full review Makes recorded screen captures quick and easy Allows you to edit the videos that you recorded directly in the application Allows you to export to MP3 The quality of the recordings is great Read full review Cons Would be nice to have more built in exporting options for those of use who don't know how to compress videos well. More built in effects would be a plus. I always struggle with adding text but it could just be me. Read full review The on-screen text options are limited and inferior to competitors Transitions aren't as easy to use as they could be. They need to be modified in the preferences pane, which is strange. Green screen settings can be fiddly; but this is really splitting hairs. It's hard to tell what's their fault and what's mine. Read full review Usability Final Cut Pro is a great software package for editing, and obviously, good things require training to understand and comprehend what your are editing. I do not give a 10/10 because it would be easier to have a comprehensive manual inside the software, rather that researching or getting yourself trained.
Read full review Support Rating Most of the support I need, I find online. While Apple has a Q/A section on their site, it's not always beneficial in answering the questions that I have. With that said, they regularly update the software, and when updates lead to crashes, they usually have another update not far behind.
Read full review It works well and fits into my workflow. The tools are much easier and straightforward to work with. Other video editing tools like Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro are simply too complicated for this type of task.
Read full review Implementation Rating Implementing Final Cut Pro into the organization was a smooth transition from what we didn't had. We felt we went from zero to hero with this software, due to all the great features that we learned. We took some time in training staff on how to use the software but at the end, this was very useful and important.
Read full review Alternatives Considered Final Cut [Pro X] has way more features in a much better layout. Although it is more expensive, I believe the improved performance and advanced level of features is worth it if you are serious about video production and professionalism.
Read full review We looked at things like Loom and all those other screen recorders, but Screenflow is just so much more powerful. It can do everything we want it to and more, even things like Chroma Key (green screen), text on video, transitions, all that. It's a pretty great software for making videos.
