Likelihood to Recommend Sample testing is great, communications (emails) out is so-so, depending on your need, you have to develop something. But that is not hard to do.
Read full review Verifying critical results via SoftLab is a very well demonstration of its high functionality. You can add a message to the result that it's been repeated and results are confirmed. Also, you can add the name of the nurse who was notified of the result. Also, you can see the previous results right next to the current one with the date it was performed. All of these aforementioned features are available in the same window making it a very good experience to verify a critical result as a Medical Lab Scientist. SoftLab has been never less appropriate to face any scenarios. It has always exceeded my expectations.
Read full review Pros One of the strengths of this program, as previously stated, is to track your sample through the entire testing process, from log-in to results reporting. It is also handy to generate reports of sample results using the LabWare LIMS program. LabWare LIMS provides a great way to preserve testing results electronically for future needs. Read full review Receiving of specimens is highly convenient now and can be done via two platforms within the same software. We use a scanner to scan the barcode as opposed to typing in any info. So in addition to being convenient, it reduces clerical errors. Verifying results was never easier now with just one click. Patient results are verified and sent to the nurses and doctors. Also, to our convenience, a list of codes/messages are available such as this test has been repeated. In addition to keeping a record of calling in critical results. Logging in our daily core lab instruments QC results and maintenance tasks have now been transformed from paperwork to verifying and enter results via SoftLab QC which is very easy and enjoyable. Read full review Cons The management of Event Triggers can stand to use some improvement. Especially when it comes to using the "DEFAULT" template event versus the specific template event. Licenses are considered "concurrent". But LabWare does not have a feature that tells me (at any level) what my peak license usage is. For example ... if I own 100 licenses, LabWare will tell me at any given time how many licenses I am using. But it won't tell me at the end of the day, week, or month, what my peak usage was. So if I own 100 licenses, and I look at my usage right now, it might say I am using 50 licenses out of 100. Does this mean I have 50 too many licenses? Probably not. I just need a way of telling what my peak usage is so that if I want to roll LabWare out to another site, do I need to buy more licenses? Or will my 100 cover for it? Importing data into static data tables is not well done in LabWare ... or even available. I can do it outside of LabWare with database management tools such as TOAD. But it is up to me to make sure all the tables and columns are populated correctly. It would be nice to have a feature within LabWare to do import data (from Excel spreadsheet for example) directly into some of the main tables. Read full review I have yet to find any features that are hard to use. I honestly believe that SoftLab is very easy to use and is 100% user-friendly. SoftLab has outdone itself as an LIS and needs no improvement. Read full review Alternatives Considered I have not used other LIMS systems.
Read full review SoftLab is a great improvement on all aspects compared to Sunquest.
Read full review Return on Investment Very positive. It allows the production units to increase volumes (and thus sampling) with minor impact on the lab. Read full review As a Medical Lab Scientist, I believe that SoftLab made it easier and quicker to verify results meaning that results are available to Doctors a lot faster than before which in return may lessen the wait time of patients in ER which makes them happy and will definitely come back again when in need which is good from a business point of view.
