If you have an environment where there is heavy changes being made to your AD, then this is a great tool to have. Now, if your environment is being managed by one person and has very little change activity, then I would stick with searching the windows log files.

WatchGuard AuthPoint

Authpoint is well suited to small and medium-sized businesses that want to protect their corporate systems with MFA. Due to its easy manageability and use and ability to protect a wide range of systems, it's a quick and easy way to prevent possible misuse of end-user credentials should they get into the wrong hands. It provides a level of protection in line with products targeted at larger institutions for the masses.

Pros

StealthINTERCEPT

  • Providing a user-friendly report for user account lock outs.
  • A forensic tool for identifying when accounts get deleted.

WatchGuard AuthPoint

  • Ease of use, the mobile app is very ease to use once set up.
  • For companies that may have employees that are not comfortable using their personal smart phone for this MFA service, WatchGuard offers a hardware token solution. It's like a mini stop watch keychain that allows the MFA service to function without a smart phone.
  • Setting up new MFA accounts is ease, you can simply scan a QR code or do a quick manual setup.

Cons

StealthINTERCEPT

  • The web based reporting console could more user friendly.

WatchGuard AuthPoint

  • Remove the use of Java. I didn't like the dependence and it caused problems early on prior to me realizing what was happening.
  • The addition of "operators" could be streamlined. I should be able to easily select an existing AuthPoint user to be added as an operator (i.e., one of my IT staff).
  • The timeout graphic/visualization on the mobile app sometimes confuses users who think that something is wrong even after approving the notification.

We can no longer imagine working without AuthPoint.
It is simple and with push tokens much easier than rsa and other products on the market. It is very secure and gives us good installation options.

They are very knowledgeable and willing to assist with any issue that may occur. We have not had to call support very often because they make sure there is a subject matter expert in place before concluding the implementation.

Varonis did a good job compared to the same things that StealthIntercept does. When it comes to configuring the reports within StealthIntercept, the configuration portion is easier. However, the web console in Varonis looked better and is a bit easier to navigate.

WatchGuard AuthPoint

AuthPoint protects both cloud/app logins as well as, and most importantly, our corporate login (Active Directory based). WatchGuard AuthPoint gives the option of using hardware OTP tokens for corporate network login, as well as the mobile app which is simple to use, customise, and is extensible to other MFA services. Some of the other products we looked at only provide cloud and application protection, without the tie-in with Active Directory, which was critical for us.Using a product developed by WatchGuard also gave us great comfort knowing they are a security focused organisation, so security will be at the core of the product itself.

Return on Investment

StealthINTERCEPT

  • This tool has helped to identify user mistakes.
  • This tool has been helpful with identifying systems brute force attaching.

WatchGuard AuthPoint

  • We believe the previous reporting and monitoring solutions took up significantly more time prior to AuthPoint.
  • The time to activate for new staff is very quick and simple so no extensive training is required.
  • It has opened up a cost-effective way to facilitate access to systems, which may previously have been out of budget for clients.
