In addition to providing 8x8 X Series services to my clients, I also use it as my in-house system providing a better means for my customers and prospects to stay in touch with me via voice, text, or video conference. I am a certified Sales Engineer for 8x8 with the ability to perform full Network Analysis testing to confirm the viability of adding a voice application to the users current network.
  • Their Desktop and Mobile apps are well thought out and easy to use.
  • They include all the features into the basic X2 extension that most companies need.
  • They have an excellent migration path into the product as well as growth within the product.
  • Add the voicemail transcription function to the mobile app.
  • Allow admin without X License and phone access to capability to record auto attendant greetings - this was lost between account manager and config manager.
  • Set up "Super User" access to accounts I've setup - one login and select account to work on...
I haven't come across a scenario where 8x8 was not well suited - Over the past year, I have not installed any premise based PBX's - 8x8's service has been less expensive to implement, maintain, and has features the older PBX's don't offer. I work in several vertical markets and have been very pleased with how well the product fits all needs.

It is downloaded on each computer and the staff uses headsets either wired or wireless. It is also used for video chats for employee education and instruction. There customer support is very accessible, it is offshore, but they usually fix my issues the first time I call.
  • Frees up desk space since an actual phone is not required.
  • I can see who is on the phone or available when needing to transfer a call.
  • I can text message via the Virtual Office.
  • I can record calls when difficult circumstances arise.
  • Customer Support is very professional and helpful
  • I would like to be able to share my screen with others outside the 8x8 platform.
8x8 X Series works well in any standard business or service office including medical and counseling offices.

I've used 8x8 for my home-based business for more than 10 years. Because my business had an artist that traveled world-wide, I found 8x8's service internationally as well as domestically to be advantageous. I particularly like the ability to capture texts and turn them into text files. There are many other aspects of 8x8 that I haven't discovered yet--many solutions to problems that haven't arisen yet await.
  • Long distance calls
  • The ability to reference call records easily
  • The ability to use contacts
  • Remote answering and texting using ad-hoc wireless connection with my mobile device
  • The system dies without power unlike a copper-based phone.
  • The user billing/interface is VERY clunky.
  • I'm not clear on transferring or picking up second calls (in other words, a call that occurs during one that is being made on the same line).
8x8 X Series is well suited for cheaper international calls, the ability to send and receive calls and texts remotely, and an easily accessible record of calls placed.

It’s great for using to organize conference calls with internal staff and with leads. It has lots of great features and makes life and business very easy. 8x8 customer service is also amazing and is very courteous and friendly with listening to the situation and coming up with a fast solution. We have different offices in different states and 8x8 makes conference calls and transferring calls super easy! I know that my company has used 8x8 for a long time and is very satisfied with it.
  • Great IT support.
  • Great features. I really enjoy how easy it is to navigate each feature such as fax, text, missed call. I also love the feature of being able to see all past calls/faxes/texts so I can trace anything back for reference.
  • Great communication tools.
  • I would like a way to receive an email when I have a new incoming text message on my 8x8.
Suited for great conference calls due to easy connecting and easy setup. It allows us to be on time for our
internal customers and our external customers who are joining a call/conference call. 8x8 also has amazing
customer service.

We are using the system in our office for the virtual office setup and the auto attendant to answer our calls. We use the fax system and our salespeople make and receive calls using it. With the virtual office setup, I am able to advertise more knowing that my sales reps can answer calls from there cell phone and make calls while the corp number shows up on the caller ID.
  • Fax system

  • Auto dialer
  • SMS texting via app
I am a huge fan of the system and have already recommended it to friends and associates that work in my sector. It’s nice to be able to set up a representative virtually, send him/her a phone in the mail, and plug them right into the system. The system itself is seamless and I love 8x8.

We switched to 8x8 after talking to experts about VOIP advice, as well as other friends in the industry. So far, I think we have also used two other VOIP/unified communications solutions systems. We are happy with their customer service and of course the deals we got from them. We use it as a way to talk to our overseas clients from our staff headquarters in Southeast Asia, and it also lets us have a way to answer calls from the ads that we run in our other departments. It's been pretty convenient so far. The analytics are also easy to access and understand, and our managers also told me that they like the automatic call recording feature. Personally, it's also a neat system to always get in touch with our clients in the US, as an executive who travels all the time.
  • Great customer support.
  • Ease of use.
  • Better affiliate deals, I guess.
  • Better CRM (just anything to make it better, but it's already very good).
The 8X8 VOIP unified communications solutions are best suited for organizations that need a reliable phone system and are gunning to scale fast.

We changed from Allworx to 8x8 X Series for the whole company. It is very easy to deploy. The first week, people asked for adjustments and if I couldn't figure it out I asked the people assigned for questions and their response was very timely. People at work think I am an expert and it's not me.
  • 8x8 deploying the ring group for me was great
  • Setting each phone to each person's task & responsibility was easy.
  • Web-based access for setup and monitoring was very smart.
  • To add ringtones could be added to virtual office.
  • 8x8 could make an attachment for devices so any bluetooth headset would work.
I really like how each phone can be customized and the ability to add features with software updates.
The 8x8 help library is extensive and the videos are great.

Due to the current COVID-19 Safer at Home Order, we were forced to take our business remote. Our old IP Phone solution did not allow us to utilize so much as call forwarding without $1000s worth of additional investment in licensing. After discussing a system replacement for several years, we were forced to make a very quick decision. Not only was 8x8 X Series an easy choice, but it also saves us close to $500/mo in fees and expenses just in service alone. All of our employees are working from remote locations and to our customers, it is completely seamless. Once we placed the order, we were up and running in less than one week! Unheard of! We use it to process incoming calls, facilitate staff meetings and scheduling as well as an overall improvement in overall staff communications. Simply put, we would be in serious trouble without 8x8 X Series and their amazing support!
  • Flexibility in hardware/software implementation
  • Amazing technical Support
  • Outstanding Value
  • The Desktop App has a few issues staying in sync with the other users
In our case, the COVID-19 situation forced us into working remotely, which we were unprepared to do with our old PBX. The ease and speed at which this system was implemented were extraordinary. 8x8 X Series is a complete system that provides us with Call Routing, transfers, anywhere access, and video conferencing.

8x8 X Series is used across our organization, with one Virtual Office license. Specifically, it addresses the need for our Pastor to be able to receive calls wherever he is.
  • VOIP Hard Phones
  • VOIP Soft Phones
  • Virtual Meetings
  • Ease of use for administrators
  • More streamlined Single Sign On
8x8 X Series is appropriate anywhere VOIP communication is needed. Their prices beat out every competitor we looked at and the feature set was superior.

Currently we have two Polycom phones, being used in two home offices. We have an Auto Attendant with 3 virtual numbers, one fax and one toll free. We have other employees, but they dont need to have the physical hard line yet so they are using the soft phone system with their numbers being forwarded from the auto attendant.
  • Everything is pretty automated. You can do almost everything you need to from the dashboard.
  • The auto-attendant is extremely intuitive and if you set it up right, can do a lot.
  • Issues I have are with trying to point certain numbers to certain places and it being the more difficult process in the dashboard and I always have to call.
I've referred easily a dozen companies and helped them setup their phone systems. I've used this as an employee of a company starting in 2005 and still deploy it today.

I work with a criminal population currently in mental health. Personal and private security is essential for me and my family. Having 8x8 allows me to use my company phones and communications from my personal phone without having to get an additional cell-phone. I additionally have the option of using desktop phones over the same lines with a seamless transition, which I also have in case my cellular service goes down or I other cell-phone issues. I have all services in my cell phone including texting (SMS messaging), faxing, and telephone calls. I can also do all these functions from my desktop as well. Getting ahold of my clients often requires me to contact their cell-phones, and the ability to send an SMS message (text) from my phone or from my computer desktop as well as to see them come in over either of them is one of the most important tools for me. It saves me time from phone-calling, as well as the unreliability of email, I can bypass full voicemail inboxes and get in contact with them very quickly. I do not use faxing very often, but the ability to without having to have a separate fax line is indispensable, and the price for it all is very worth it.
  • Faxing: Allows me to combine a PDF easily into a fax without using clunky machines or separate lines
  • Texting: From my desktop or my cell phone with notifications from each.
  • Allows me to make business calls from my personal cell-phone without an extra phone.
  • The setup has so many features and options, but 8x8 has its own lingo, so functions aren't always labeled what I would have called them, so finding where I need to search for a feature to adjust it was difficult.
Mental health is where I most strongly see a need and an application for it, as therapists may need to be available but not wish to carry a business phone in addition to their personal phone. It also allows them to keep privacy without increasing workloads, as they are able to have a separate, fully functional line on their phone.

As everyone transitioned to working from home with the pandemic, we jump-started our process to update our VOIP technology to 8x8. This allows our entire team to work remotely while still being 100% functional for our clients. Additionally, the 8x8 system allows us to stay in touch with each other and communicate more efficiently and effectively with each other.
  • Seamless operations.
  • Can determine who's on a call vs. available.
  • Can text and chat.
  • Can conference call.
  • Variability and scalability of the product.
  • Offers a mobile phone app and computer-based app in addition to a desk phone.
  • Customization sometimes needs to be done on a per-user basis. This makes it tedious if there are a lot of users.
  • The system went down within the first 2 weeks, causing us to rebuild the users into the system.
It's well suited to anyone needing an office-based phone system for a small to medium-sized company. It can work both in an office setting but is also very valuable (more so, I think) in those situations where the employees/partners are scattered over a larger geographic region. The phone offers a plug-in and operational quality. I can also use it on my mobile phone or on the computer just as easily. I'm not sure where the system is less appropriate.

We're using 8x8 X Series for a single location fine dining restaurant. Our needs are seemingly simple: ensure that no customer call goes unanswered, period. Our previous solution, Verizon Business Digital Voice, failed this simple goal on multiple levels.
  • Excellent user interface across multiple devices means minimal training and maximum adoption, particularly of advanced options.
  • Ease of setup and management, which is crucial because as a small business owner these tasks fall to me, a non-technical user.
  • Reliability and availability: we were shocked that our previous vendor, Verizon, regularly failed on these counts, which should be something that "just works." That has been our experience with 8x8.
  • Although the admin portal of 8x8 X Series is far better than our previous vendor's, it's still complex. It might be helpful to add some more wizards (similar to the one for number porting) that guide users through common tasks. Still, excellent customer support and documentation overcame this small shortcoming.
8x8 X Series is well suited for small businesses that want to create a professional and responsive customer experience. In the restaurant industry, a missed call is missed business with few opportunities for second chances. Having an easy to deploy and manage solution like 8x8 has been a lifesaver. I would add that the outstanding human customer service makes a huge difference. From Sales through to Deployment and Management, the 8x8 team did not rest until we had all questions answers and problems solved.

I use it as an office-wide communication system, and as the way we present ourselves to the outside world. I was hoping for a bit more from the videoconference system, which I would use in my mediation law practice, but I am happy with what the system does provide.
  • Ease of setup.
  • Portability.
  • Ubiquity (ability to be reached over several platforms).
  • I'd like to see 8X8 come a little closer to the extra features of Zoom, like more side conference rooms.
I can't think of where 8X8 would be less suited, but it is perfectly suited for the small office environment.

I am currently living in the Philippines and operating an online business with clients here and in the US and Canada. 8x8 is my answer to communications with my family and clients. They can call me and I can call them. I can also have virtual meetings with them when necessary. I use the texting a lot to set appointments. It also sends me an email when I receive a call or message. It has faxing, but I don't use that.

This is a very versatile and affordable for small or large business or even personal use for travelers or retired people in another country. If I need a virtual assistant or call center later, it is adaptable even for that. I love it
  • Setup was so easy with the help of the support group.
  • I transferred my number from a previous carrier with no problems or down time.
  • The company sends me information to make my usage better and my life easier.
  • I wish there was an easy way I could use my system here in the Philippines for local and long distance without a per-call charge. It works in many countries, but not here
  • A true webinar functionality would be nice, but just as convenience
  • Actual phones could be made available here for 220Volt systems and deliverable in the Philippines. That would be nice.
This is a great tool for hands-free use on my laptop. It is great also for nice long chats with my family in the US when I am in the Philippines. It could be useful for business even in the US when a business deals with people online and outside the US (or even in the US) with a landline type service.

We turned to 8 x 8 in 2016 when the cost of traditional phone service was getting out of hand. I worked with Ferman Smith to get the transition rolling and we have never looked back. We use the system throughout our office and is has made all the difference in the world. The system is reliable and if there are ever any questions, I just call and there is always someone to help me.
  • I love the 8 x 8 virtual office where I am able to set the phone system up and let it run without any issues.
  • The customer service department is amazing and always there to help and guide you through setting up the system.
  • I love that there are multiple ways to speak with customer service, ex. chat, phone, and a self-service support page.
  • Sometimes setting up the system can be a little hard, however, there is always someone available to walk you through it, or help set it up.
8 x 8 Virtual Office is suited for all business small to large, that wants to have the option of "set it and leave it". If and when you ever want to make a change it is easy to log in and take care of it.

Across the whole organization.
  • Easy to set up
  • Manageable using online account
  • So many great features that can be used in many different ways.
  • The very last phone that I added to my account didn’t have an activation code nor email attachment, that gave me a hard time to activate it. It took me a few days in between my regular work and home to make it work. I called the sales representative and technical support a few times for help to activate this additional phone. However, overall, I still like the 8x8 system.
Can be pre-programed using an online account at home or at work, then plug-and-play elsewhere. Can remotely program, change, modify features or functions and the effects take place right away.

We use it as our main phone service - all incoming and outgoing calls between our 2 locations.
  • Love that we have a virtual assistant... press 1 for x location and press 2 for y location
  • We use the texting feature quite often to communicate with clients
  • Voicemail is easily accessible
  • Wish that we could receive incoming text to our main line.
  • Or have the text go to an email address but that clients can still text to our main line!
It'd great for anyone...anyone on the go or that wants a phone line without the hassle of a service that forces them into a contract and installation fees.

It is being used across our entire company. It is also used on mobile devices as well as desktops. The virtual aspect of it solved business issues when on the road or traveling. Also, having an individual phone number per line is quite nice. This system is far less in cost as well.
  • Cost
  • Mobility
  • Call clarity/quality
  • The setup was cumbersome as some phone numbers disappeared. Technical glitches.
  • Changing packages was very difficult and time consuming. Involved a lot of time and it should be a simple process.
  • 911 fees are exorbitant. This may be out of 8x8's control though.
It is suitable for startups or even established businesses. Especially ones where employees have modular working environments or are on the road or working from home. The ability to port presets over is very simple as well.

8x8 X Series is used for our customers to contact Rolodex. We routinely call out using the app or the PC application. We have used it for sending and receiving faxes as well. It is the backbone of our telephone communication system, and we use it each and every day!
  • It sends and receives faxes very well. We don't send many faxes and do not have a fax machine. We have saved close to $100 in fax fees that would have been charged at office stores.
  • When customer contact information is loaded directly into the system, dialing requires a click. This saves lots of time.
  • Texting is seamless and we can text customers from our PCs! Great!
  • The app takes a bit of time to connect to incoming calls. We have to take a breath before saying hello after answering a call.
  • I would like to be able to send group texts from the desktop app.
I strongly recommend 8x8 X Series for virtual offices or offices where several people need to be able to answer phone calls even when they are not at the office. We do not use the function allowing calls to ring multiple users yet, but we have been able to allow multiple employees to answer incoming calls from anywhere (serially). It works great!

8x8 allows us to make and receive telephone calls in the office and outside of the office. We have them hooked to hardwired internet telephones that were kindly provided by 8x8 and allow us to divert, transfer, make and receive calls quickly and easily. We are also using the app to make and receive calls on the go and call record which is useful for our sales team.
  • Make calls.
  • Receive calls.
  • Call recording.
  • Set up.
  • Installation of hard wired phones.
  • Online user settings.
It is well suited to any business with Sales teams or looking to make and receive calls using a virtual number. Not so well with users who are on the go all the time or trying to use the app in areas of patchy signal as the app does require some rather good signal to work to it's best.

We use 8x8 in our New Jersey office, which has employees in multiple locations. The quality of the calls is the same as a landline, but the options for handling calls are so much better. Calls can be forwarded to different locations, and the mobile app is nearly perfect. When we started using the service our phone bill was cut in half, and we make a lot of calls! Finally, the customer service is great. Although we don't need help often when we do call a live person answers in the first few rings.

A great service, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to everyone.
  • Quality of calls
  • Quality of customer service
  • Less expensive option for domestic and international calling
  • Easier call blocking would be nice
  • Easier set up and changing of ring groups
  • Better voice to text for voicemails
We have multiple office locations and the system works flawlessly in all locations. We are all extensions on the main system.

8x8 virtual office is used as the telephony provider for the entire organization. Instead of having hardware on site for phone call handling, voicemail, call recording and call metrics, 8x8 reliably does everything that is needed. 8x8 also provides redundancy allowing for weather or other emergency conditions and telecommuting options for remote employees.
  • Adds moves and changes to phones is fast and easy using the portal.
  • Online assistance and documentation is easy to access and useful.
  • Customer support agents are well trained and resolve issues quickly.
