Through use of specific grant codes, grant expenses are easily segregated for financial reporting using the filtering features in reporting. In combining statements, grants may be represented individually. Distribution codes or allocations use the grant codes to distribute shared costs according to individual plans to the appropriate grants. Through the flexibility of filtering, our blended-funding situations may be combined in statements or presented separately dependent upon need.

As a community action agency we are faced with the challenges of properly accounting for many funding sources on a daily basis. Our agency currently has over 25 grants from 10+ funding sources all with their own special reporting requirements. In my six years using MIP, I have not encountered any instance where the software has not been able to accommodate the various requirements. The key is in the GL setup. If that is done correctly, you will not encounter any difficulties satisfying any funding source reporting requirements.

The ease in which we are able to function in the MIP system gives us much more time to devote all the other aspects of the organization. We are not bogged down by a cumbersome system.

Yes we have been able to manage programs that are funded by individual donors as well as foundations, and government grants in addition to our own funding. We are able to manage the different restrictions of the funds and report appropriately internally and outside the company.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) we use MIP for our multiple grant funded programs. We use a G/L segment for "grant/fund" and one for "grant year". This allows us to properly report and track our grant funding across the various grant award periods. We designated "grant/fund" as a self balancing segment.

We have multiple sources of revenue: state and federal grants, local support from cities and counties, and many types of donors - Individuals, companies, organizations, foundations, and restitution. MIP is excellent in tracking all these monies.

We have multiple funds for several reasons?
1. We have temp restricted, perm restricted and unrestricted funds. We can track them effortlessly.
2. We have multiple revenue lines, some from joint ventures. Our annual meeting has two funds. One is only our revenues/expense and the other is shared revenue and expense. Without the multiple funds, we would never be able to reconcile between them.
3. We co-own a building and this allows us to keep that completely separate.
4. We have ten chapters and can keep all of their activity separate.

Our Organization has multiple sources of funding, foundations grants, state department grants, USAID, etc. There is a level of complexity in terms of timing, personnel, accounting requirements, data distribution. MIP allows Finance to format this information on multiple levels, specifics. With the new Unified Guidance and our first Audit under the new requirements, I found I was able to drill down to information required. Also communication with our Program Mangers is streamlined.

Our organization does get funding from multiple sources and MIP does help us keep that straight. We are able to add funds and expense against those specific funds and create accurate reports about it all. We can keep track of different grants, contracts, individual donations, program revenue, and things like that.

MIP Fund Accounting does help manage multiple funds from multiple sources. Communicating that capability while only having one set of G/L accounts was the most difficult aspect of this process. My manager's eyes lit up once he saw the way MIP presented the cash account by Fund.

MIP has certainly helped manage multiple funds form multiple sources in our organization. We currently have around 20 different programs with at least that many funding sources. We receive a mix of funding from state/federal, private, and municipal in the form of grants, donations, contributions, fee for service, etc. MIP tracks all of these with ease.

We have benefited from the ability to manage multiple funding sources in this system. We can allocate each program according to expenses and according to cross program expenses. We are always working to properly allocate to the penny the exact usage/benefit each program gets from one person's time to each ream of paper. MIP allows us to split the costs more accurately than anyone else in the business.
