The ability to manage multiple funds from multiple sources is all in the set up. We were a new organization and had difficulty in determining what our future needs would be so things could have been set up better. The inability to merge at all levels: cost centers, revenue sources, etc., is somewhat limiting.

We receive funds from various federal and state agencies and MIP fund accounting makes it possible for us to track costs per grant. Some of our grants are renewable so we keep the 'Fund' number the same and code costs to a 'Year' segment so that we know which 'pot of money' expenses have been paid from. This is very important when auditing and it makes our lives so much easier. This software has allowed me to write a report for our SEFA (Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards) which is one of the first steps to beginning an annual audit.

We are able to manage our many funds by using MIP's coding. At a previous job, we also used MIP and had many different sources of revenue as well. MIP was very helpful in allowing us to track the funding sources as well as the expenditures.

Yes we benefit from being able to break down all financial items into cost centers, programs, locations, division, etc. Within our agency, we have anywhere from 35 to 50 programs that we track financial information for. This is also split between our administrative, direct service, residential, workshop and supported living divisions. We have 20 locations that these expense and incomes are being tracked for. We also have a variety of fund raiser accounts that we track through MIP.

We currently have in excess of 50 grants from various funding sources that range in grant amounts for $5,000 to $2.5million - with MIP the reporting time is the a few seconds in both cases - it has made it more feasible to accept the smaller grants.

The main client who uses MIP processes loads of payments from varying customers, tracks mortgages, and handles revenue flow to vendors with ease. Our other MIP client is a local government utility office and they work with both public and private sources in a highly fluctuating market with almost no issues.

We are a non profit who has multiple departments including state and federal grants that are multi layered. Being able to see all the revenue and expenses by particular program or by total roll up does make it much easier to manage and much easier to understand where funds are being spent.

Yes, we use MIP fund accounting to track our grant sources. We can track all revenue and expenses associated with multiple grants and or revenue sources. This is critical in the grant compliance portion of our work. Without this critical piece of information that MIP provides we would be spending too much time tracking expenses that are available now with a few mouse clicks.

As noted, this organization has maintained MIP as its primary accounting system for the last 19 years, and successfully manage two separate databases that are consolidated monthly, while managing various funding sources of the organizations.

Our organization manages over 80 fund accounts from donations, local, state and federal sources. MIP does have all of the functionality we need to manage the funds, organize reports and data so that we can effectively manage our programs.
