  • Reliability.
  • Doesn't change.
  • Support is great.
  • Font size is too small and not adjustable.
  • Organized poorly for ease of training. Try explaining the difference between Transactions and Activities to a new employee!
  • Inability to archive old records is a real problem for us. Why should we have to pay an outside entity?
  • Inability to fully remove inactive codes from the tables. Admins should be able to edit/remove codes on the tables.

  • Integrates well with our donation software.
  • Allows us to set each missionary as a project or "company" of its own within the system.
  • Handles our home office accounts payable and payroll through the General Ledger.
  • The "voucher register" in payroll should have the edit feature in favorite reports in process manager.
  • Everything else meets our needs.

  • It gives a true picture of where you are at a given point in time.
  • It's relatively user friendly - when you know what to do.
  • There seem to be some glitches in the HR module "talking" to the Financial Module. This makes it difficult to effectively process payroll sometimes.
  • We've not had good luck with [the] training. The finance department had great turnover a little over a year ago. When we became fully staffed again and tried to set up training, COVID hit. We attempted to set up virtual training, but it was very impersonal, and we were "fit in" where they could get us. We're getting by and discover some things on our own, but it's been very discouraging.
  • When we call the service desk, sometimes (depending on who you get) we're made to feel like we're very incompetent. Processes aren't fully explained. I've been told on several occasions, "I don't know why it did 'this or that,' but it's fixed now." It would be nice to know the "why" of an error so I can explain it to other staff, so it doesn't happen again.

  • Easily spreads investment returns to all endowments
  • Creating and formatting reports is simple
  • Navigating the software is very intuitive
  • Report writing could be easier; it is not user friendly
  • Standard reports should be more accessible (e.g., SOA, SFP, individual endowment reports that are reader friendly downloadable into different formats)
  • The original implementation was very difficult and cumbersome

  • Allocation feature is great. You can make changes to percentages and programs as needed.
  • The budgeting portion works great, and makes it simple the first time you set up your company's annual budgets.
  • The Financial Reporting is wonderful. You can save and automate reports, and it helps eliminate run time at month end.
  • Ease of deleting entries that are not needed.
  • It would be nice to have a way to update your reports once you enter a new calendar year. Most things require a manual run with date updates.
  • It would be nice to have a way to run a mock allocation to see it's effect, rather than running a real allocation, then deleting if it didn't achieve the proper result.
  • When new programs are added, it would be nice to have an option to change it one place and have it update to all areas. Now, you have to remember to add and include it once you add a new one.

  • Allocating expenses according to a user created allocation table.
  • It will generate a report with any parameter you can specify.
  • Keeps track of vendor and donor balances.
  • Creates an audit trail of each transaction and any corrections
  • Customer support is difficult to access.
  • The drill-down feature is an improvement, but should be easier to use.
  • It is not easy to change users when there is staff turnover.
  • There is a steep learning curve for new users.

  • Report customization.
  • Data upload.
  • Data download.
  • Fund tracking.
  • Bank reconciliation screen does not show total of credits and debits for the month.
  • If previous months are not locked in bank reconciliation, my locking doesn't always work.
  • Bank reconciliation suspense allows to bypass real reconciliation.

  • MIP divides our finances into numbers of dimensions--entities; funds; programs, g/l. These are more numerous options than others provide.
  • MIP offers a large variety of reports--meeting needs for the accounting department and management.
  • MIP warns of errors that prevent completion of tasks.
  • MIP could improve the way it accepts date inputs--some times it allows 2 digit dates; other times not.
  • MIP could show the related journal entries on both sides of the debit/credit ledger.
  • The reconciliation process could include session ID data--would be helpful when the need to identify details behind a transaction arises.

  • MIP offers a lot of free training webinars that are always informative and interesting.
  • The custom column creation helps to creative very specific report details.
  • There are some great features that are only available on the cloud and it would be great if in house users had those features.

  • Ability to set up separate entities.
  • Simulated month-end closeout.
  • Large selection of modules.
  • MIP Fund Accounting (formerly Abila MIP) could stand to be a bit more user friendly. It takes a while for a new user to get up to speed.
  • I don't like having to re-enter my password every time I change entities.
  • When I open MIP Fund Accounting (formerly Abila MIP) on my Surface laptop, the font is FAR too small. I can hardly see the icons.

  • It provides an excellent method of tracking purchases for program data.
  • It is fairly easy to learn and train staff to use.
  • Customer support in resolving issues has been above average.
  • Filter and search options are great tools in finding information.
  • When printing the PO, 90% of the time it will print on two pages instead of one. The organization has tried to correct this, but seems like a glitch in the system. This is an increase in processing time and paper.
  • We have had issues with the workflow in the system. Still trying to work that out.
  • On occasion, I have been locked out of the system and had to contact customer support in order to handle the problem. I'm still not sure why this happens.

  • We utilize grants and the fund setup helps manage the accounting for those grants very easy.
  • The reporting is very good and I've not had issues being able to extract the exact data I needed for any analysis.
  • Again the customer service is excellent, easy to use and quick to respond. I can almost always get any question I needed answered within minutes.
  • I [wish] being able to export to excel was a bit easier. I now have to save it and then open it as opposed to the spreadsheet just populating.
  • I'd like for un-posting to be a little more automated as opposed. Basically like an "un-do" button.
  • I don't like forced password changes but I understand the requirement.

  • Reporting -- Customizable, exportable (pdf and excel)
  • Journal Entries -- Supports journal entry imports with some tweaking
  • Budgeting -- Budget module is very simple to use
  • User Interface -- Easy to pick up for anyone who has used Greatplains
  • Customizable Modules to match only what the organization needs
  • Drill-down functionality is not consistent across all reporting
  • Recurring entry module lacks easy ways to customize multiple entries at once

  • Offers multiple attribute assignments allowing more precise program tracking
  • Tight controls and security features
  • Extensive reporting options and customization
  • Entry screens and layouts are too dense, not user-friendly
  • I have to customize my windows every time -- need to be able to set preferences for columns and drill downs
  • Too easy to make data entry mistakes because the layout is hard on the eyes and relies on having to glance down at the tiny window for text descriptions of number codes

  • Checks in place to prevent certain inaccuracies (i.e., MIP Funding Accounting (formerly Abila MIP) will not allow the user to enter an invoice if debits don't equal credits, total debits/credits don't equal total document amount, and/or an A/P account is absent)
  • Once the templates are properly created (for which MIP Fund Accounting (formerly Abila MIP) offers brief, personalized training sessions to assist), the Import feature is easy to use and saves a lot of time
  • Allow users to have access to the database via an online cloud; this has made working from home more realistic.
  • When using the recurring transactions module, if you click into a line item to edit it, once you save and edit, the recurring transactions page refreshes and rearranges the line item, which causes brief, continuous lags. The only workaround I've found if renaming all of my recurring transactions a particular way.
  • It would be a nice feature if users could click into line items on reports like in Quickbooks.
  • Being able to click Enter on my keyboard instead of Ctrl+Shift+R to when search for records in the Vendor module, etc. would be a nice feature.

  • Distribution codes are amazing...they will calculate for you!
  • Recurring entries come in handy also, because you don't have to enter monthly bills repeatedly.
  • It is very easy to use!
  • Very user friendly!
  • Wish the vendor name could have more than 20 characters.
  • Don't like having to reverse and then copy to make a correction or remove something. Wish I could just delete items easily.
  • It has been running pretty slow recently and kicks us out sometimes.

  • Multicurrency Function - We spend in different currencies and this feature is great so that we can enter transactions in the source currency while reporting in our functional currency (USD).
  • Reporting - We can run various types of reports based on the multiple dimensions that we have. It takes time to understand which report can do what, but once I learned this I saved versions of the reports that I frequently run.
  • Data Entry - It would be great if we could copy and paste from an Excel spreadsheet. If we have a lot of entries to make, we must do imports. If the import is not perfectly formatted then we must keep making updates to the file. This can be annoying especially when the issue is minor such as having a comma at the bottom of the file.
  • Multicurrency Training - The training for this module is subpar. A lot of what I learned was through trial and error because there are not many resources for this. Even training partners barely have anything for this.

  • Flexibility with Financial Reporting
  • Integration of HR and Payroll functionality
  • Importing of Journal Vouchers
  • Integration of electronic timesheets.
  • Date tracking of when changes are made to distribution codes. These are used heavily and without a history, auditors become frustrated with trying to reconcile costs to the General Ledger.
  • Document scanning in HR could use a lot of work. My understanding is that you cannot scan documents and attach them to individual employees.

  • Ease of use to start: I can easily navigate the system, the subgroups make it very efficient.
  • Report Writer: The setup allows me to retrieve the information I want in the format that I want.
  • Processing my 1099s: I love the ability to quickly compile the information and also the ability to retrieve it later. The option of processing for more than one company. We no longer have more than one but at the time it made processing simpler easier and faster.
  • There had been a couple of issues with the check processing when there is a jam and having to reprocess. It doesn't have it often but I find myself trying to figure out which option to choose to begin again. So maybe a little more clarity around that.
