  • I would say EMS has had a positive impact upon our campus. Before this system we used email, fax, and inter-office mail to do invoices and catering orders. Each department policed the rooms available for booking. Tremendous change, all for the better.

  • Extremely positive impact. We have a growth of 60% over the last 5 years, and we would never be able to keep up with the growing demand if we did not have EMS scheduling software. The visibility and user-friendly requesting systems, along with the dashboard capabilities, have made for greater efficiencies.

  • Change is always hard. EMS was brought on to help all resource providers manage their resources and services. There was also a need for scheduling to be mainstreamed. We did struggle with "This is my space" statements for a while, but that is getting better. It has taken a couple of years, but staff are coming around to see the value and ease of having a reservation system.

  • The most noticeable improvements in our usage of EMS is our ability to process requests more efficiently using a standardized form that has a professional presentation. Before we began using EMS, we processed our parking requests by simply typing an email with a few details. Pricing was jumbled in with the wording and clients often did not read the fine print. EMS has definitely made an impact with projecting a professional image to our clients when they receive confirmations and invoices.

  • We have had difficulties with EMS in regards to the university changing other software on campus. We just moved to Workday and it seems that, with the staging table, it is becoming more and more difficult to sort the info and have it appear in EMS without a total shift in the way the user data is presented.
  • We have been able to pull any report senior administration needs, which has proven its worth.
  • Data is only as good as what you put into it and humans and tracking of events becomes difficult sometimes

  • The query feature allows us to see the sales of each catering item. This has been a very important feature since we are designing a new menu. We now know what to cut and what to keep.
  • Forecasting has benefited our catering mangers during the scheduling process. This feature allows them to not over schedule and save money.
  • One feature that has been positive for our department is being able to see the previous years sales and how much we have increased or decreased in sales.

  • The software was easier for our base users. One result was shorter turnaround times for billing information input.
  • While the software comes with a host of canned reports, there is no flexibility to modify the reports to fit the individual business need. We have spent many person-hours trying to find a way to make the included reports work with the data we want to collect.
  • We are using the software as part of a university enterprise version. Sharing as part of a larger group means we can share the cost with different departments while still retaining an individual data set. By using the sharing model, we are saving more than $7000 per year on scheduling software cost.

  • EMS is a great tool to show how conference space is used. It’s not always about the number of rooms but sometimes the size of the rooms. It has painted a picture of what spaces are used, by who and how; this information was essential in new builds and department moves.
  • The catering data is equally essential to provide a picture of sales; who orders, what is ordered, where is it delivered and when.
