We use Scale HC3 Hypervisor and Acronis Cyber Protect is the only backup program that can backup VMs natively. We are forced to use it to backup VMs.
  • In my opinion, there is nothing it does well
  • In my opinion, really nothing
  • I believe the support is the worst. In my experience, they delay you for weeks asking for logs they never analyze to tell you 4 months later that the bug is known since 6 months.
  • In my experience, backup replication does not work reliable, but does not give any warings or alarms. We found out that we were missing 30-60% of servers on tapes!
  • I believe the reports are not working
I believe this is the worst backup program I have ever used. In my opinion, the support is catastrophic. In my opinion, the product quality is catastrophic. I believe you can't rely on backups to be written on tape.

  • I believe there are missing servers on tape.
  • In my opinion, hundreds of hours wasted with useless support
  • In my experience, hours are wasted to manually check every week if all servers are on tape since reports are not working
Veeam is gold, but it can't back up the VMs using snapshots on Scale hypervisor. In my opinion, Acronis Cyber Protect can't do anything right that Veeam can do with ease.
In my experience, support calls are going on for months(!) with required logs that get never analyzed just to tell you that the bug is already know since befor you open the ticket.
In my experience, there is no premium support. In my opinion, there is only very very bad support.
Yes
In my experience, it generally takes 3 weeks to 6 months to get the answer that the bug is known already since a long time and the dozens of mails and logs were just used to stall you in my opinion.
In my opinion, not once.
If everthing worked as expected the usability would be ok. But its far from working in my experience.
  • Get a bill from Acronis Cyber Protect
  • In my experience, reports are not working.
  • In my experience, replication to tape are not working reliable
  • In my experience, cleaning up datastores

We use Acronis as our backup system for 600+ VM across 40 sites

  • ESX config backup (never worked)
  • SQL backup (never worked)

  • multi nenant management
  • sql backup
  • vm backup

Acronis on-prem is the worst backup software I ever used. After 4 years of using it, I'm still trying to make it work, and it still doesn't. The support managed to resolve only one out of +30 incidents. They'll try to contact you on a random email or phone number, and if you don't answer, they'll close your case. Oh, and If you manage to escalate your ticket, don't worry, it will still be ignored by an account manager. The system is constantly blocking, and it appears that the most efficient way to resolve the issues we had was to reinstall completely the solution. If you dare to change the size of a disk on one VM, you'll lose all backup of the disk if you don't clone your job. The only thing this product has worked for was wasting our time and money.
  • doesn't work
  • expensive vor no result
  • Never reached our backup objective
  • ineffective support
I only got one issue resolved for more than 20 cases open. The escalation is ineffective. Most of the time, I have the feeling that I know the solution better than the support technician. Overall, case management is time-consuming, as our resolution rate is really low
not working properly. not reliable. no support. Can't wait to migrate

Used for image backups for server for organization. Allows for data recovery including from ransomware onto the same server or another dissimilar hardware if required (BMR).
  • Fast Image Backup
  • Deduplication
  • Live backup of databases
  • Pricing for Cloud Storage
You NEED to protect your servers from Ransomware. Acronis Cyber Backup lets you do that and recovery quickly.
  • Business Continuity and Recovery at a managable cost
Only had to contact support a few times. Response was quick and the issue was addressed.
Product is very easy to install and set up. Once it's up and running it's also easy to monitor which is very important
I would love it if they offered better cloud space pricing or even "unlimited"

Simple Acronis Review

Acronis is being used by our location as our main means of backing up our data on a daily and bi-weekly basis. We had originally switched for ease of use reasons, after positive peer review, and due to previous usage of and familiarity with Acronis. We are able to ensure timely backups of our data across multiple machines that are easy to access, manage, and store.
  • Obtaining Data Recovery. The process of recovering any information from a backup is straight forward. There has yet to be any issues with any recovery we've attempted.
  • Setting schedules for incremental and full backup dates/times. We need to run our backups at very specific times and the ability to assign different schedules for backing up various locations is very helpful.
  • User-Friendly. All information is readily accessible in a way the flows nicely. Placement of different option makes sense as you go through the processes of install, setup and everyday usage/maintenance.
  • There are times when accessing the backup files takes an extended amount of time, as they do not always become usable quickly. It is a small complaint, as they never fail to open after a few minutes.
  • Being able to create backups on removable USB hard drives that are taken away for offsite storage when full could be better. You can make it happen but the process doesn't feel as smooth as the rest of the software.
  • It would be nice to be able to compare the contents of multiple backups at one time in order to be able to more quickly see the difference between them when searching for information changes requested by users.
I don't see why this software would be 'less suited' for usage when compared to other software for the purpose of backing up your data. It does what it is meant to do in a way that is easy to understand. The user interface is intuitive overall, setup feels standard without anything that feels out of the ordinary, and we have not had any problems with restoring information as needed.

  • Peace of mind. It is good to know that at any time we can have information restored for our users within minutes. Previous software needed an extended amount of time and failed often.
  • Data backup and recovery have been a breeze. As previously stated, we have had no issues with the process of restoring data, unlike we had with previous software.
Does the job. Covers large and small scopes. It is nice to know that as our company expands, there are multiple software options available to support our backup needs and to possible make the expansion easier trough being able to view multiple servers through one station. We have yet to scale what we have set but communication with Acronis support has made us confident that it will be simple.
Backup Exec, Symantec. The biggest difference is the ease with which we can recover data with Acronis. Backup Exec would fail or throw out errors often during a restore process and it made for a nightmare when users needed information quickly. The only feature that we miss is the ability to compare contents of multiple backups side by side.
5
Information Technology. We are the IT team for this location of our global business. I have recommended Acronis to my colleges of affiliate businesses and of other companies. Those who have tried Acronis usually end up buying it. It is very easy to learn and intuitive for new users on the server side of things.
5
Network administration team and floor technicians assist in the use of Arconis within our company. As far as skills needed by our team members: prior to using Acronis we did not know anything about it. During the free trial time we learned much. It is very self explanatory in nature which works well for us.
  • Full Backups
  • Incremental backups
  • Data recovery on a low end user scale
  • Full server recovery
  • can easily be used with cloud
  • physical backups to an external drive have been used
  • recovering to a different computer for data forensics
  • Not sure other than continuing to use it to save our confidential data
  • Using it with a Vault system on a PDM
We have renewed our subscription over the course of a few years now. We used to use Backup Exec and it was tedious and difficult to obtain our backups when needed. Acronis just fits our environment style and the way we prefer to do business and use our third party software.
Yes
Backup Exec. The difficulty our company was having obtaining backups through the software.
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Product Reputation
  • Prior Experience with the Product
We needed something more robust and simple. Price was a factor and along with the affordability came usability which was a snap once we installed and poked around.
I wouldn't change our evaluation nor selection process. I'd do it exactly the same way as we did before. It works, what works just works. If is isn't broken, don't fix it.
  • Implemented in-house
No
Change management was minimal
With Acronis Backup, we learned that it wasn't really a big deal. It took over right away and did the job we needed it to do. We did not have to assign a specialized person to manage its function. It has really spoiled us compared to Backup Exec. with implementation and install.
  • Using Acronis to read our previous backups from Auto Exec
  • Using Acronis to read very old backups from a much earlier version of Acronis
  • Making sure license are used properly among servers.
I don't have any real key 'insights' per say except that it wasn't difficult at all, and do not be afraid to dabble in its tools and settings. It is quite intuitive with built in common sense. I cannot say enough good things about our companies experience when using this backup software.
Yes
We do pay for the insurance that if we have any future questions or issues that may arise, Acronis will be there to assist as soon as possible. This is an insurance that the low cost of yearly maintenance is very much worth having for my company. I would do it again and again if needed.
We have only had to contact support a hand full of times. The reason for this 9 out of 10 is do to how quickly and cooperative they have been on the rare occasion we needed to chat with them about our small questions or queries with potential issues do to the nature of our business.
No
Yes!
We recently had an entire server crash. This was a non windows OS based server that housed a database. We have had Acronis backing up the mysql backup. Luckily we did this as we lost the mysql backups at the same time as the total server failure. It was an electrical failure so all was lost. In rebuilding we used the backup provided by Acronis to save the day.
  • Recovery of backups from an external drive.
  • Recovery of backups through a NAS system.
  • Setting schedules for backups for both full and incremental.
  • Getting notifications on a regular basis of backup start times, completion, any issues that may come up.
  • Initial setup takes a little time, but no more than any other backup utility that I've used in the past
  • I haven't had any issues with it being over bearing or cumbersome
Yes, but I don't use it
I give it a rating of 9 do to its ease of usability. It's ease of understanding how to setup - form - fit - and function.
I have no sorrows when having to login to the console in order to setup a new backup schedule or retrieve and recover lost data.
