Reliable backup

Works well to backup three machines (my license limit) at a reasonable cost with a reasonable amount of online storage provided. It is somewhat clunky if you want to do rotating backups among two or more separate hard drives. A license agreement which restricts my freedom to publicly discuss how the software performs is offensive.

The imaging capability seems to be solid [with Acronis True Image], although I have not had to recover a drive yet so cannot compare. The logs tell me when it is (and isn't) working. The "Cloud Replication" that is supposed to simultaneously replicate the local backup image is perfectly awful and the months of tech support ended with them telling me I had a "VSS issue" on a brand new workstation and that I should just create a separate cloud image. After months of it taking 3-4 DAYS to run, IF it worked, and then failing altogether, I discontinued it. It was even logging (running?) under another separate critical files backup, and forced to use the same encryption password. Setting up a new one failed. The cloud backup of my critical files is still running at kb/sec speeds. The ransomware protection hasn't caught anything yet to my knowledge, and consumes a lot of resources. Changing the settings takes at least 10 minutes to log into the cloud. Cloud storage is tiny and a push to get you to pay more. Will not be renewing.

Acronis True Image is well suited to people who are looking for a reliable and easy to use backup program. It is excellent for both home and business users but would recommend it for home use more. I also like that the app supports backing up data to cloud storage also in addition to local drives/external hard disks etc.

ATI provides a robust set of features in the Windows version and is great for both home and business use. It is easy to setup different backups of different folders and run them all on a schedule. However, some knowledge of backup schemes will be helpful as it provides many different types (incremental, differential, etc), but it does not provide any recommendations on which method is ideal for which use case scenarios. The Mac version is significantly lacking in features and by default does not appear to exclude certain cache folders so without excluding them manually, you may find your backup volume filling up faster than usual. On Windows, the commonly used folders are excluded by default but may still require fine tuning depending on the applications being used. (e.g. Adobe's massive media cache folder will indeed get backed up)

Acronis True Image is my go-to recommendation for automatic full system backups. It is often the fastest and most complete way to recover a failed system. Conversely, for backups of user data only, I actually prefer a cloud solution such as iDrive, which is far simpler to set up than most online solutions, and offers included phone and email technical support that is quite competent.

Acronis True Image is well suited to provide low maintenance reliable backup solution for Windows Machines without much headache. It is easy to install and configure and use. It is less appropriate for Mac machines as [their] Mac solution of Time Back Machine is more appropriate and native to use.

Acronis True Image is best for ongoing schedule of backup routine on a single machine. Best suited for small businesses without an IT department. I would have a hard time trying to set it up for several users. Seems like Acronis was designed for "the guy at the office who knows how all the computer stuff works," which is me.

Software is well suited in general for its cloning and imaging abilities. I prefer it over any other product of the same function. I will gladly pay for something that actually does what it advertises over a similar free product. I wish their software had some disk repair features to use in coordination with their cloning features to help correct issues and make cloning go smoother and more reliably.

If you have inexperienced staff that needs to replace hard drives, and 1 to 1000 to do, this is a great option. I had to do some hard drive updates (move to SSD) and this was a great tool to use and image new equipment. Very easy to use, and easy to train others on.

After some experience, I think that this is probably the best and most functional backup and recovery software available for the Windows platform. It's straightforward and can act as an insurance policy against disaster. Quite good for the price, to be honest. It has so far saved me from an absolute disaster twice, and I am certain to maintain the latest version for each of my PCs. If you decide to save your restore image to a USB drive, it will require formatting, so it's best to have at least one dedicated volume, accessible by plugging into a USB port, for the purpose.

I purchased this software following my experience with Disk Director, which I still use, although I'm not certain that it's up to date. I've noticed that the 2020 version is available on the company's website, but that my software hasn't notified me that an update is available.

Acronis s well suited for quick cloning disks that are about to fail. It is mainly used for backup and recovery, and these are its main strengths. I can't think of any less appropriate use for this software, though.

After being hit with a virus we greatly improved our backup strategy and this has been a great help! Good, reliable backup of servers and workstations, great support, and easy to set up on servers. Recommend it a lot because it very easy to use and saves a lot of work time. Version 2019 has a very good user interface and is very intuitive.
