We use Act-On to promote our various products such as events and subscriptions as well as sending out newsletters to customers and prospects. We also have a series of automated emails to people who take out free trials.
  • Easy to set up automated campaigns.
  • Works well with Salesforce.
  • Billing is based on unique contacts emailed in a month not by the number of emails sent, which is easier to budget for.
  • Responsive customer service.
Cons
  • Designing html emails sometimes needs knowledge of html coding otherwise there can be frustrations with things like spacing and fonts.
It is perhaps more geared up for marketing communications than customer communications. For example for customers, we want to send them emails even if they don't open them often because they have paid to receive them. But Act-On is inclined to treat them as unengaged and wants to cut them off (because that helps deliverability overall). We are working with them to try to resolve that and improve some deliverability issues that have arisen.

Our organization uses Act-On to deploy email marketing campaigns to generate leads for advertising agencies and marketing services companies. It provides us with the capability to set up automated email programs and send thousands of emails to our clients' prospects.
  • Manage multiple clients and segment the client accounts
  • Activate multi-step automated email campaigns
  • Track recipient engagement such as opens, clicks, and website visits
Cons
  • Set-up requirements and steps are complicated
  • Customer service could have been better
Act-On is well suited for activating complex automated email programs but requires a significant investment of time to learn the platform. Act-On is not well-suited for basic email campaigns since the set-up process and capabilities are complex.

We use ACT-ON as our primary ESP for our marketing and IT departments. ACT-ON allows us to properly segment and A/B split [test] our entire database. This is extremely crucial due to our worldwide audience and their individual send requirements.

ACT-ON should be tested by all marketing departments in need of ROI positive ESPs. Having tested many other ESPs, I can say that ACT-ON is the quickest to set up and the most revenue positive interface I have used.

We are using Act-On to hep us optimise our marketing efforts, from Lead nurturing to the creation of automated programmes, We decided to use this tool because it is an complete marketing platform that allows us to have a complete overview of all our marketing activities in one place, great for reporting ROI and it integrated with existing CRM system.

We use Act-On to track our strongest leads. The tracking features allow us to see who is visiting our website and when it would be best to reach out to leads based on their activity. We use it for follow up from conferences to reach out to contacts we made. We use the landing pages to easily supplement our website, allowing us to easily create content without having to go through our IT team and create new pages more easily than dealing with HTML and CSS. We also use the SEO features to make sure our website and landing pages are set up ideally.
  • Their knowledge base and onboarding are fantastic. I learned what I needed in a very short period of time and can quickly find information if I need help getting what I need.
  • They respond very quickly when support is needed and have always helped me find what I need if I can't in the knowledge base.
  • The email creation tool is very easy to use, and I love that it has a responsive design.
  • Adding and uploading contacts is easy.
  • Building forms is simple and easy, and is a great way to supplement our website.
Cons
  • It's very frustrating that the marketing lists are not sortable by column.
  • I know it's coming soon, but having responsive design for the landing pages would be a great improvement.
  • It would be great to see what lists a contact is in, possibly tying it together by email address.
It is definitely helpful if you need tools like lead scoring, website tracking, and an easy way to create content.
