The email capabilities of Act-On are much more robust than those of Salesforce, which is why we use Act-On in conjunction with Salesforce to maximize our marketing efforts. Act-On allows us to use email automation and build intelligent programs, where Salesforce does not.

Act-On is very comparable to Marketo but I believe has an edge in the small to medium business sized companies that do not have a need for mass automation and complex drip campaigns. Act-On is the prefect tool for a company looking to implement a marketing automation system that will grow and scale with their company as it grows.

Act-On has a very low pressure sales approach. The other systems I looked at had a different method that I found very off-putting. The month-to-month agreement with Act-On gave me confidence that , if I didn't like the system, I wasn't committed for a year.

It's been years since my product evaluation prior to selecting Act-On, but we do use Salesfusion, which is a marketing automation tool for SalesLogix. Act-On is much more intuitive and user friendly. The pieces tie in together better. I believe there may be more functionality with Salesfusion but it's very difficult to navigate. Also, the sales users find it much harder to utilize the templates, reporting and general functionality provided to them with Salesfusion.

I chose Act-On from a listing of about 15-20 systems for automated cloud-based digital marketing. Act-On offered the best email marketing system for me by a wide margin. I needed a versatile, easy to use, and comprehensive system to create attractive marketing communication vehicles, have the capability to incorporate forms, check lists, document/photo inclusions, and other basics so I could create professional advertising to be sent and results tracked. Act-On offered all of this for a very good price in a size package that fit my needs very well. Overall, the compelling attraction was infinite access to helpers without limitation or extra cost.

Act-On concentrates on marketing aspects and provides excellent functionality, where as Sugar CRM's focus is on CRM DB functionality, and their user interface and historical reporting does not come ready made. Act-On provides easy download of latest information from CRM and also upload. This can be automated periodic updates, or run on demand. Works very effectively.

We primarily looked at Pardot and Eloqua. Eloqua was out of our budget range. At the time Pardot and Salesforce weren't merged yet, and had they been, it might have changed our mind. However, I have to say the price point and the really easy integration into Salesforce makes is a very fair comparison. After we had our demo session with our sales person, we really liked what we saw and did a little bit more analysis and made the decision to go with Act-On a couple of weeks later.

In terms of functionality Act On in my opinion is a solid platform if you compare it with other marketing automation tools, the one thing where they beat the competition is on pricing and how flexible they are when you negotiate with them

Prior to my start at this company, the director and previous email marketing manager decided to test out two email platforms at the same time. We are coming to the end of both of our contracts and we are going to go with Act-On. The customer support is much better with Act-On and I feel like we get more out of our time with them. Having both a customer success manager and a deliverability analyst has helped us make some important decisions about our email marketing.

We selected Act-On compared to the others because at the time Act-On was the only one offering the visitor website tracking capabilities. They were also the only one that was offering the ability to pay on a monthly basis which is ideal for an organization looking at getting their feet wet in the Marketing Automation space.

Pardot and Act-On have similar capabilities in terms of the functions and features; however, Act-On's customer service is far superior. With Pardot, I felt as if implementation was a on set timeline and once you were done that was it, you had a question and you needed to either figure it out or wait for someone to get back to you to solve it. With Act-On, however, your needs are their needs. Your support is custom from implementation all the way to strategy and campaign management.

I didn't select Act-On but after using it in this company compared to other software I have used at other positions, this one is certainly the most functional and provides almost every feature for our business that is used.

We are a small business, Eloqua and Marketo were overkill for us. Infusionsoft was great we just felt like Act-On was a better fit for us. HubSpot is magical, I respect them as a company and they have a great product. It came down to monthly pricing, no contract, not needing inbound functionality yet and a cheaper overall cost.
