We use ActiveCampaign to manage our eCommerce fulfillment and email marketing. The automated email follow-up is fantastic. Especially with abandoned carts and follow-up after purchases.
  • Automated Email follow-up
  • Post-purchase sequences
  • Marketing campaigns
  • The ability to use multiple sending emails.
  • There are some bugs when moving between tabs that can be annoying.
  • Segmentation is powerful but can be confusing.
We integrate with Shopify. The integration is very extensive and useful. Good email marketing and follow-up will make or break an eCommerce business and ActiveCampaings makes it easy and powerful. There are some limitations in how you can display different Shopify products in the emails though.

We use ActiveCampaign to take cold leads and educate them about our products/services in a way that is the most relevant to them. Most often leads are entered through a landing page form. Depending on the page, they get a specific educational piece, then through automation are put inot a long term nurture sequence so we can continue to show value and build the relationship.
  • API connections to marketing tools
  • Manage at the list and user/tag level
  • Marketing & Sales CRM in one tool
  • Creating long automations is slow
  • Ability to pull in additional lead context (social, etc information)
For marketers and salespeople who want to have rich interactions with their leads, ActiveCampaign is a powerful tool for the price point. When compared to Infusionsoft/Keap, a majority of the function was there, a much easier interface, for a fraction of the cost.
I wouldn't recommend to someone who is just starting marketing and not willing to invest in automations and nurturing campaigns. There are free tools that will collect email addresses. ActiveCampaign value is guiding leads to becoming customers.

ActiveCampaign is the best email software out there. We used to manage our mailing list and maintain relationships with our subscribers. It helps us stay organized, and one of the best parts about AC is that you can do so much automation that it takes a lot of work off my shoulders. There's a lot of really handy features that make it really simple to consistently maintain relationships with the list.
  • The automations feature is extremely useful
  • The reports function gives me actionable insights I can make decisions with
  • Deliverability is pretty reliable
  • Sometimes, the emails don't land in the inbox for a few minutes.
ActiveCampaign is a must-have for online business owners. I can't speak to how it would perform for businesses or organizations that aren't actively using online marketing to grow their business. But for those who primarily rely on building relationships online through email, this is a no-brainer. It's especially useful if you intend to grow email as a channel for your business.

We used ActiveCampaign to regularly nurture our email list. We understand that Social Media is not permanent and sustainable to regularly reach our audience so we wanted to invest in building our email list and give value to them through high-touch communication. ActiveCampaign is suited not only for enterprises but for small businesses as well which we love because as we scale we don't need to migrate our data to a different platform.
  • Automation
  • Visual workflow
  • Controller
  • Deliverability
  • Tagging
  • Landing page for opt in
  • Dashboard
  • Analytics

ActiveCampaign is suited not only for enterprises but for small businesses as well which we love because as we scale we don't need to migrate our data to a different platform. They have a starting plan for 500 people in the email list and you can get great features.

If you're a small business looking for an email autoresponder and CRM you can achieve that with ActiveCampaign. They have basic and robust tiers so they can cater to different sizes of organizations.

We are currently using ActiveCampaign to communicate more effectively with our current Clients and potential clients. We are also using it to build our pipeline & workload.
  • Easy to import contacts & details from another provider
  • Build your "deals" & customize the pipeline
  • Provide videos that teach you how to move to the next step
  • I'm struggling with the automations ... I'm sure I'm overcomplicating things.
  • Attaching documents to automated emails that get sent
  • Adding a photo or avatar to Clients
I was looking for a CRM that could also provide marketing and wasn't over-complicated, I could have my team participate, and build in a pipeline of deals/contracts for Clients; ActiveCampaign fit these features perfectly and it is affordable. The other software companies seemed to be too robust for what we needed and ActiveCampaign can grow along with us as we scale the business.

The king of automations

We use ActiveCampaign to gather leads from freebies and Facebook ad campaigns. Also, but less often, to send campaigns to our contacts with interesting articles, promotions, etc. The plan is to also use it for retargeting visitors on our website since we have also installed the ActiveCampaign plugin for WordPress on the website.
  • Automations - so many options!
  • Easy overview of contacts and multiple options to filter them
  • Many integrations available
  • The UI could be more intuitive
  • The custom forms aren't particularly attractive design wise
  • Other providers have nicer templates, but I like to keep my emails simple, so it's not a big problem
I would definitely recommend ActiveCampaign to someone who wants to use automations to optimize their business. I love all the possibilities, even though I don't use many of them. Definitely a must if you have a webshop.

If your approach to email marketing is a simple one, just building a mailing list and sending some emails every now and then, maybe ActiveCampaign would be a bit of an overkill, or put in another way, a waste of cool functions :P

ActiveCampaign has been really effective for our business and what we were looking to implement, such as automation, CRM, and in-depth outreach/user reports. I am able to excel bigger now in my business because I have the tools and automation I need.
  • Onboarding and free migration process
  • Automations
  • Campaign and user reports
  • Easier segmenting
ActiveCampaign is really well suited for businesses that are ready to scale up and have a bigger following, where everything is needed to be tracked in order to pinpoint what works and what doesn't and reach more people in an effective manner. ActiveCampaign is probably not suited for businesses that are just new or starting out but can also be of great help regardless.

ActiveCampaign is being used to improve my CRM. before my email marketing, I was lackluster and inconsistent. But it has given me more control of My customers' journey. From custom-built out landing pages, contact scoring, and being able to see campaign performance. There are Lot of providers out there but they ensure you are supported. Even when I signed up for a deal and they what they should fix it.
  • Customer email capture
  • Automations
  • Hands on tutorial
  • Diverse platform
  • More tutorials that don't have to video chats
  • More integrations
  • Easier way to add signature like a button
As a solopreneur, it's helpful considering I don't have many hands on the deck outside of myself. If you're aren't ready to dive in all. The way the platform can be overwhelming. Once you learn the platform it proves to be super beneficial. I can imagine for a bigger-sized company just how useful this platform can be.

I currently manage ActiveCampaign on behalf of a small firm in the legal space, and it serves as a great example of the capabilities of the platform. ActiveCampaign is used for everything from initial contact with prospects through the entire acquisition process.

We leverage forms for in-house contact creation with a large number of custom fields, highly-segmented automation to get prospects through the appropriate processes, automated emails when relevant (to leads as well as internal emails), and the CRM platform as the primary method for keeping track of all prospects, past and present.
  • Ability to leverage a large number of custom fields for contacts
  • Create automations that span from very simple to very complex including segmentation by any custom field and connecting different automations together.
  • Scales based on specific business needs including platform capabilities and number of contacts
  • With the high level of customization, can be complex or overwhelming for some new users
  • Would like the ability to add some features a la carte instead of having to upgrade
  • Some reports can feel a little limited and the ability to create custom reports and charts/graphs would be nice
ActiveCampaign is a solid platform for businesses that need a significant level of customization but don't want to use enterprise platforms. It's a great tool for those looking to do more than send email sequences, especially if segmentation and tracking custom information is important to the business. ActiveCampaign also has a large library of integrations that may be important to some businesses.

If you're just looking to send out a simple series of emails, ActiveCampaign is likely more than you need.

ActiveCampaign saves so much time & allows us to provide superior service to our clients after settlement, including thank yous, reminders & introducing key contacts at specific stages.
It is also really beneficial as a marketing solution & we specifically use it for webinars - reminders, follow-ups, etc.
It is mainly used by 1 person/department but benefits many other departments.
My favorite feature has to be the SMS integration with Twilio.
  • Service - Awesome live chat
  • Integrations
  • Ease of use
  • Two way messaging with Twilio would be beneficial
  • Responses from Twilio Messages showing in the client contact history
  • A way to set specific timeframes for email/Twilio SMS so you don't have to add a waiting stage before each step of an automation
  • Ability to update email signature with one click (i.e. not going individually into every email
If you need to automate SMS/email based on an action someone has taken, it works really well. I think it's best for service-based businesses.
My partner has an e-commerce business & we decided it wasn't really suitable for his needs.
It's affordable for even small businesses & a worthwhile investment

I signed up for ActiveCampaign on the recommendation from the consultant I hire to do my marketing. I needed something that would manage multiple client lists and provide an easy means of sending news and updates to each segmented list. We've been able to cultivate and manage our email campaigns with ease and to date haven't had any technical problems with the system itself. It's been really great.
  • List Segmentation
  • Intuitive and Easy to use
  • Great dashboards.
  • I'm not as familiar with the system so can't really say
I can only speak to what I know and I have to say that I was really impressed with the ease with which we could set up drip campaigns. I thought it would be more complicated than it was, but it was highly intuitive and left little room for error.

We use ActiveCampaign (AC) for email marketing to our database of subscribers. We use their segmenting tools to hyper-target emails based on various preferences and purchase data. We make use of their automation sequences to welcome users to the platform and we're now working towards taking advantage of its tracking features to tag users based on actions on-site, etc.
  • Good deliverability
  • Good suite of automations - (beautifully designed)
  • Customer focused - they have been responsive to our needs.
  • Email builder is good but could be improved - particularly for varying images sizes when side by side in a row. I recently found this challenging.
  • Email segmenting is also good as is, but could also be improved - e.g. if I want to schedule 3 emails to similar groups at the same time of day and exclude one group, I have to wait for one email to completely send before I can exclude the group. Logic could be applied to exclude those email addresses to allow me to draft and schedule them all at once.
  • I can't think of anything else I'd improve. it's generally very good.
Personally, I feel AC's USP is that they offer unlimited sends beyond the user capacity of Mailchimp and therefore offer SME's greater flexibility at a reasonable price point. It has everything an SME needs to manage an email marketing-focused operation and I saw today that they are now offering an integration with WhatsApp to allow clients to contact their customers via another channel. This is a great addition.

We use ActiveCampaign to target marketing at new prospects but also to keep existing clients in the loop. We also use it as a tool to stay in touch with current clients who have a "live project" with us. We have automated an email process that keeps our clients informed at every stage of the project development. It also doubles up as a Sales Forecasting and Pipeline tool, so it is truly used as a multi-purpose tool in our business.
  • A fully fledged CRM
  • Keeps track of deals, stages and pipeline
  • Automated campaigns for new and existing customers
  • Slight bug when adding deals (it seems to duplicate the deal but fine after a refresh)
  • Speed has been improved a lot recently, but can be improved further
ActiveCollab is a multi-use tool, and a replacement for say Mailchimp and a CRM, as it does both. Managing deal stages is a breeze too.
It is well suited for created automated scenarios to trigger out customized campaigns for new and existing clients.

I currently use ActiveCampaign as my email marketing system. For now, my company is just me so I do everything! ActiveCampaign makes it easy to add forms to my website for visitors to subscribe to my emails and has some great automation you can set up.
  • Automated email marketing
  • Segmenting email subscribers
  • A bit of a learning curve
  • A lot of features which is a bit overwhelming at first!
ActiveCampaign has been great for my needs so far. I would definitely like to learn the system better to be able to fully make use of all the features. As a solo user on a Lite plan with only a small number of users, it's very affordable but it seems like the pricing increases quickly as you move up in plans and subscribers.

ActiveCampaign is an essential tool that allows us to connect without potential new customers and maintain conversations with our existing customer base. We use automation for onboarding new customers who each go through a sequence that feels personal and is engaging over two weeks. We use video, GIFs as well as text alone and it's easy to create messages that stand out in our new customers' inboxes. We also use the features to keep in touch with our existing client base sharing regular news and updates.
  • Automated sequences
  • Onboarding
  • Customer campaigns
  • Offer review on your account to highlight what you are not using
  • More video demonstrations
  • Reusing templates and past campaigns
So good for onboarding new clients! It's so important to make the right first impression and we needed a tool fit for purpose. The hours we have saved are invaluable in implementing Active Campaign to sequence our onboarding. Before, this was time heavy and also at risk of user error as it could be easy to miss setting up a new client. Our process now is tight and we feel confident that each customer is being sent the right information.

We moved to ActiveCampaign from another email service provider as ActiveCampaign ticked all the right boxes.
We use it to send:
  • We use it to bring in leads from all social and media formats into ActiveCampaign email lists that trigger various email automation.
  • We use it to automate for us what path a lead or client takes within our value ladder of services. Depending on the lead's outcomes, on whether they buy, buy a certain service, click on a certain link, don't click on a certain link, are male or female, or any other circumstances - we can use all the valuable data ActiveCampaign gives us to better serve our clients and lead our potential leads into one of our paid services.
  • We use it as a CRM, email announcements, newsletters, product launches, and more.
  • Email Automations

  • CRM & Sales Automation

They have fantastic customer service. We can book regular zoom calls to help us make sure our emails are being set up correctly & that we are using ActiveCampaign in the best way possible. I use it to engage and sell potential customers. It has a ton of functionality. The best feature for me is to really see a diagram of the campaigns I am creating.
  • Great customer service.
  • Robust interface.
  • Different ways of segmenting customers.
  • It would be nice if they could offer quick videos right next to the function you are using. I usually go to youtube and have to waste time searching for someone with the best and shortest video.
  • The tagging can also have something added so that it can easily and automatically be put into past email addresses if I choose to do so.
This tool is great for bigger companies. That is why I have a 9. For smaller companies, it is a little on the higher price side, but I understand it is because it is so robust. Love the functionality and the service by email or phone.

We're using ActiveCampaign as both a CRM and email marketing tool across the whole business:
  1. Managing contacts and recording our interactions with them
  2. Sending regular emails to our mailing list to stay in touch with them and provide educational content
  3. For automations as part of products and services we sell (onboarding and course delivery)
It helps us to stay in touch with people - the advantage over other apps is that it's CRM + email marketing in one, so we can see contact activity relating to email campaigns in the same place as notes, telephone call records, etc.
  • The email builder has a lot of customization options when compared with other email marketing apps.
  • The automation builder is incredibly powerful, particularly when combined with contact tagging. With 'tag added' and 'tag removed' as triggers for automations, there's huge scope for building automation.
  • Forms and landing pages are very useful, especially for list building.
  • My biggest frustration is with the email campaign reports. The UI appears to almost be from a different, much older app entirely. The data I can see about campaigns at a glance is very limited compared to other email marketing apps.
  • More flexibility with Zapier would be a real improvement.
  • The campaign creation process, although mostly excellent, feels a little clunky at times. For example, when choosing a segment to send to (that includes all contacts with a specific tag) I can't see who is in that segment without a number of additional clicks.
Although there are some areas for improvement, I do think it's the best combined CRM and email marketing app available right now - it's flexible enough to cover use cases for those new to using email marketing as well as those with advanced automation. It's perhaps less appropriate for those who aren't tech-savvy - there is a training available but the learning curve is a little steeper than with other email marketing apps.

Used in my sole operator brokerage. I originally got it to replace another newsletter distribution app but then realized it's capable of SO much more- super impressed!!! It will be used across the whole organization- me and a range of contractors in various support roles around the country. I love the integration and automation possibilities- it's brilliant!
  • Marketing campaigns
  • Automations and workflows
  • Analytics
  • It's really slow on my system and no-one can tell me why
  • Huge learning curve, even if you're used to workflows/automations
  • Found it difficult to find stuff in help but that could be just me
Automating and tracking client newsletters, news releases on a one-off basis, I would imagine product releases would go really well because of the really comprehensive analytics and automation available. I'm a newbie so haven't really fully explored what it can do but I can definitely see the potential is huge and will grow with my business with no problems!

I am a nutritionist and weight loss and life coach. I use ActiveCampaign for email newsletter marketing.
It helps me with several lead magnets LINKING to an automated marketing campaign.
It helps me in capturing contacts.
It helps me automate my regular content offerings.
It’s quick and easy.
The customer service is very good.

  • Customer service

  • Newsletters
  • More basic entry level tech support
  • How to videos for beginners
  • Explanation of technology.
To keep in touch with prospects and keep them updated for when they may be ready to work with you in your business or recommend you to another potential client.

My business uses ActiveCampaign to communicate with our customers. We run launch email funnels and send email promotions and updates to our customer list. I love that ActiveCampaign has many integrations with other software applications like Kajabi, etc. That was and continues to be a major selling point for our company.
  • Scheduler
  • Multiple lists/domains
  • Integrations
  • Increased subscribers in price brackets
ActiveCampaign is great for businesses who send marketing emails and need to be able to segment their list as well as integrate with other marketing software tools. It would probably be less appropriate for a company that is strictly sending customer newsletters that are very basic/wouldn’t require tagging, segmentation, integration, etc.

I'm using ActiveCampaign in the Sales & Marketing functions of my business. It streamlines and automates communications related to purchase confirmations, newsletter confirmations, course sign-ups, and when people book consultations.

I also use it to send out our email newsletter and reminders about current/upcoming events and promotions.
  • Message Automation

If you're a small business owner who regularly does consultations with prospective clients and you have (or want to start) an email newsletter. ActiveCampaign does a great job of helping you manage your sales (with their "Deals" feature), contacts, and email newsletter.

The nonprofit that I work for is currently using ActiveCampaign. While we haven't been able to utilize it to its full capacity quite yet, we are eager to use it as a way to track donors and somewhat for grant management. Currently, we are using it mostly as a contact database and will start sending out digital newsletters soon. When choosing a platform, the board of directors had the goal of finding a CRM system - ActiveCampaign had that AND email marketing, which was a plus because we needed that anyway.
  • Customer service is phenomenal
  • Ease of use
  • Additional training and assistance
  • There are a LOT of functions and terminology - a quickly accessed cheat sheet of terms and what each page on the navbar is used for would be helpful.
  • The opt-in process can be quite frustrating; it feels like we have lost contacts due to this system.
  • Email builder is easy to use but there's room for growth. Not currently a lot of font options which can be annoying in terms of staying on brand.
After extensive research of other platforms, ActiveCampaign was the best in terms of aesthetics, ease of use, and customer service. It's well suited for small businesses or nonprofits who are looking to grow without investing too much. The platform is easy enough to pick up and teach yourself making it a great option for someone without much experience with CRM or email marketing. There is always additional training, too, which is great for those who are eager to continue learning how to best utilize the platform.
