I use ActiveCampaign for email management, as a CRM and for lead generation through free tools that I offer via email campaigns and landing pages. Being a solopreneur and creator of an independent brand, it is extremely important that I have a touchpoint for my clients, leads, and referrals outside of social media. With ever-changing algorithms and moving targets, ActiveCampaign allows me to reach my audience without being reliant on Instagram or Facebook. The integration with Zapier makes my business logistics nearly seamless and customer support is always willing to help me with any integration issues.

  • One-Off Emails
I would recommend ActiveCampaign to anyone who describes themselves as 'tech-savvy.' It is well suited for anyone who is wanting a robust system and is willing to figure out how to create a process that works for them (versus having the process already built). It can take some time to figure out the integrations, so it would be helpful for anyone who has a tech background or someone to help them navigate. ActiveCampaign is not good for someone who wants simple, already designed template without add-ons.

I use ActiveCampaign to maintain my mailing list. It easily integrates with the several opt-in pages I use for my marketing efforts. I send marketing emails as well as newsletter type emails with ActiveCampaign.
  • Create and update segregated mailing lists
  • Implement and use automations
  • Easy email design tools and templates
  • I wish that lists were at the pinnacle of organization rather than contacts
  • It can be difficult to design automations
  • It can seem very complicated and cluttered - maybe if the features were somehow nested it would be smoother
It is so easy to get subscribers added to a list, and execute automations from the first moment. I am an owner-only business, so it's amazing to be able to design and implement a welcome sequence that has automations built in. Once I design the flow it all happens automatically. I do think that it's a little hard to use, but only because there are so many features. I'm certain I'm only touching the tip of the iceberg of available features. For the price I pay, ActiveCampaign is an absolute steal.

We use ActiveCampaign to automate our campaigns which are sent automatically. We also use them for one off campaigns that we need to send out to our users. In this way we are able to execute our end to end email marketing strategy for our users and also helps us analyze on how we are doing on it
  • Drip campaigns
  • Email analytics
  • Email Marketing
  • Better onboarding
  • Easier to use email editor
  • Email digest with analytics would be great
ActiveCampaign is well suited for a small organization like ours to help us drive our end to end marketing strategy. It is priced right, and with optimum set of features. Both automated drip campaigns and one time email campaigns are good to use making it well rounded. We use it for our Onboarding campaigns for our coaches and students with separate campaigns. It helps me get analytics over a period of time on how these are performing as well

We use the platform to both market our investment products to contacts that visit our website and fill out lead forms, or those that are added manually by us as a result of sales efforts and networking. Once they are a contact we send them welcome email automations, newsletters and other communications to convert them into active investors.

We also use AC to communicate with our active investors and track their interest and engagement with our emails when we are marketing a new investment opportunity.

Finally, we use the CRM functionality to track our leads through to conversion.
  • Email newsletter platform design
  • Sales funnel visualization
  • Easy Website contact form integration
  • Email design tools can be buggy and require care when ensuring formatting looks correct to the recipient
  • The website lead forms could be more customized
  • The text communication integration could be made more powerful
It is best suited for a small to medium sized business that wants a single platform for managing their marketing outreach and their sales efforts. If your business wants to manage a newsletter, communicate periodically with a list of contacts or manage a funnel of leads from the top of the funnel to conversion, then this is great. Basically, you need something more powerful than Mailchimp, but don't want to jump up to Hubspot or Salesforce.

I started to use ActiveCampaign as a lower-cost alternative to Infusionsoft (Keap). With a relatively broad scope of practice (Brain Health Coaching in 4 different niches - Weight Loss, Parenting, Business and Mental Health), I needed a way to tag my clients and sort them into different campaigns and automation as well as assign them to different deals depending on their interests and activity scores. ActiveCampaign has given me this ability for a very reasonable rate, and also has some easy-to use landing page options and product options. It works well with my websites and the email deliverability is great.
  • Tagging customers dependent on engagement and interests
  • Sending automations and email campaigns
  • Pulling it all together in one software
  • Having good training and support options
  • making it easier to navigate
  • making the site faster to load
  • making it easier to just send a quick email to a list...
  • making the support options more accessible and intuitive
For a serious business working in more than one area of business - or wanting to be able to sort customers based on behavior Not so much for a start-up coach that wants to get experience with emailing clients

I've thoroughly enjoyed using ActiveCampaign. Our company switched from Mailchimp a couple of years back, and we have not looked back. We have super-detailed insights into our audience, better tools to create high-level and quality emails, and better reporting as well. We use ActiveCampaign to send daily emails to our audience giving them travel tips, deals, and more.
  • Providing detailed insights into our audience.
  • Create quality emails.
  • Tracking email performance through several KPIs.
  • Better tools for creating emails in a seamless way for beginners.
  • Options to create longer emails that don't get cut off in Google.
  • Tools to make the design process easier.
ActiveCampaign is definitely suited for creating word and image-based emails, but probably not an excellent tool for someone who creates only word-based emails. If you're gathering content and links to share with your audience, then ActiveCampaign does a great job at this bit as well! I also believe ActiveCampaign is well-suited for media companies in general.

ActiveCampaign is a very good web marketing tool for CRM and for automation marketing to send emails to several people at once. Contact management is simple and the creation of an email campaign is within reach for everyone. However, the software remains quite expensive I find.

ActiveCampaign is useful for improving the customer experience and for customer follow-up, but also for being present throughout the sales process and allowing the company to develop new prospects and leads through this software. ActiveCampaign also allows you to create landing pages to promote a service or a particular product.

I have used ActiveCampaign for email campaigns with follow-up forms, automations from website-based forms flowing from ads or research, and generally managing mailing lists. The design flexibility of the forms and the emails allowed me to make a professional impression when contacting people or when they responded to an ad. The automations also worked very well, and were easy to monitor progress.
  • The graphic design is very good, especially fonts, colours and templates
  • Flexibility of design and functionality
  • Takes a little while to learn it, but generally user-friendly
  • Looks very professional but doesn't cost much to get started
  • There are masses of integrations for ActiveCampaign, and the ones I tried all worked well and didn't take long to figure out.
  • It took me a while to get to understand where to find things, and I used a free online course from a consultant who specialises in AC to help me get the foundations set up more easily. That said, there were lots of onboarding workshops, which were good. It just felt like it required a lot of different angles of learning to just get started.
  • The customer support took longer than other software to get back to me via email, though once I found the chat option for my most recent query, that was fast.
  • I've ended up switching to another programme where more software is more naturally integrated, and the AC equivalent is included in the price, along with many other types of software. However, design-wise, ActiveCampaign is much better.
  • I also had a problem with a form used on my WordPress website, which has a BuddyBoss platform - the colours on the form would be overridden by colour choices for the website, so they were hard to read (pink text on purple background instead of the gold text it was meant to be)
  • I couldn't always find the templates I was looking for or how to access them for automation-based emails. I think when I used it, there was a new type of template for newsletters that weren't available for automations, so I had to recreate it, which added time.
I think ActiveCampaign is very useful for setting up newsletters, forms, and automated responses that are nicely branded, with good functionality. It's also useful if you are starting small and want something both inexpensive to get started but also very scaleable as you grow. Do use the double security because I got a lot of spam through forms, even with a captcha.

We use [ActiveCampaign] across the entire company as a way to stay connected with potential clients and proactively addressing their needs by creating consistent, valuable content.
  • Customer service
  • Easy to use and navigate
  • Simple to change and grow with
  • Pricing maybe
  • More templates available
[ActiveCampaign] is great for any level of user. I myself am not at all technically inclined and I found it simple to navigate and keep up with changes in my workload. It is a program that grows with you and tracks all that is necessary to keep up with the growth of your own company.

I can't actually think of a scenario where one wouldn't benefit from their services and platform.

We use ActiveCampaign on a daily basis. To send out our email communications with our customers. We also send a newsletter weekly, and it has been really important for our business to keep track of our email opening rate. In addition to that, we also use the split test option to deliver emails with better opening rates. The automation section is pretty straightforward forward, and we use it a lot to automate many steps that were manually done previously.

ActiveCampaign is our CRM and chosen platform for email automation sequences, sales emails, and communicating with our clients. The product allows us to host all our customer information securely in one place in a way that is GDPR compliant. It takes the stress out of email communication thanks to the readymade templates and user-friendly interface that mimics Word. We can make money in our sleep - knowing sales email sequences are going out to clients on predetermined schedules.
  • Readymade email templates that are user-friendly
  • The ability to create and schedule automated email sequences
  • Housing all our client information in one safe, easily accessible place
  • More information on hidden or lesser-used features
  • Less marketing emails - asking to schedule calls
  • Examples of how other users are benefiting from features that may be of interest
ActiveCampaign is ideal for solo traders through to medium-sized enterprises who want control and oversight of all their email communications in one user-friendly platform. I love being able to design quick, effective email campaigns that I trust to go out on time as scheduled, with little to no technical expertise needed. The ability to track how each campaign performs gives me all the data I need to adapt my marketing strategy and test different approaches. It's the one tool in my business that I never question the value of. I have my entire client base at my fingertips.

While ActiveCampaign has a bit of a learning curve, it was extremely helpful in helping us set up systems, automations, and tracking our engagement. It's robust but not complicated (when you get the hang of it) and I feel like we have this massive, million dollar software for an affordable price.
  • Setting up automated systems
  • Tracking data

  • Steep learning curve when you're learning the software
  • Ability to see the message for past campaigns without multiple clicks
If you want to set up robust automations that have several dependencies, ActiveCampaign has you covered. You can adjust everything as needed without too much hassle and set up an easy or complicated automation that will do everything that you want it to do. The data you can pull is also great and can help your business make better decisions.

I am an author and self-publisher using ActiveCampaign for landing pages, email sequences, and ad hoc communication with clients. AC also provides statistics and details on users' behavior (clicking on links).
  • Weekly emails on service improvements and new functions
  • Great ratio price : service, incl. users count
  • Email template formatting
  • A possibility to link several landing pages to a single email sequence
  • More formatting options for landing pages

I use ActiveCampaign for all my email marketing efforts. I can easily segment my list and run leads through different funnels without having to manually do anything. I like the automation and the level of customization for each email I send. I also really like the campaign builder and find that ActiveCampaign is a complete software that is really useful and adequate if you're going to use email marketing in your business. It does have advanced features that I don't think are super valuable if you're just going to use it to email here and there but if you're building a complex business with multiple funnels and offers and you want to be able to automatize most of it, then this is definitely a great addition to your business tools! The only thing is that it might take a little time to get used to the user interface that I find somewhat complicated and the contact management could be a little more intuitive as well. Other than that, I really like this email marketing provider and I'm excited to see how much more of my business I can automatize other than emails.
  • Can create a welcome sequence/sales sequence and automatize contacts going through
  • Can easily segment your list and create a customized email experience for contacts
  • Easily integrate with some of the online course platforms
  • Contact management could be easier
  • I wish it could provide email preference option for subscribers
  • Interface could be a little more user-friendly
ActiveCampaign is perfect if you intend to use advanced email marketing strategies and use the software as a CRM tool. If you're only looking for an email provider to send emails here and there without a project of segmenting and running automation, then this is probably not the tool for you.

We primarily use ActiveCampaign (AC) for automated email marketing and newsletters. It helps us nurture our leads automatically and generate sales. When leads sign up for a lead magnet, they get added to ActiveCampaign and send nurture emails for days-weeks before receiving sales emails. We also use ActiveCampaign for nurturing customers after a purchase. Because our product is a test that takes time to get results, we keep our customers "warm" by sending them emails over weeks about what they can expect.
  • It's easy to add/update contacts automatically
  • Designing automation is really flexible and easy to do
  • Campaign reports are in-depth and easy to interpret
  • The email designing part could be easier to use. There are certain simple shortcuts that don't work, for example, adding links is more complicated than it should be, moving blocks around is hard, etc.
  • There's no good way to filter by 'active' and 'inactive' subscribers when editing en-mass.
  • I'd like more reporting data on one page.
ActiveCampaign is great for anyone who wants loads of flexibility for building automations. They really excel at allowing you do build any automation you want.

However, because it's slightly more expensive than some other options for email marketing, if you're sending general newsletters or don't need complicated automations, you could go for a cheaper alternative.

We have used Active Campaign at both of my companies for both a CRM and contact categorization database, as well as email marketing. Staying on top of client engagement is critical for us to refine our product market fit and optimize conversion rates of sales prospects, as well as investors. The main problem it addressed was finding something within a reasonable price point that offered value for that cost and was very easy to implement and use ongoing.
  • Super clean and simple to use interface of dashboard
  • Very easy ability to construct a beautiful, visual email
  • Keep contacts organized in a way that we can most intelligently implement a next best action
  • Adding more features and design options to the email beautifying
If you are looking for the quickest bang for your buck for a CRM and email marketing/drip for the limited time you have, this is the quickest, easiest implementation and graduation of understanding on how to use that I have seen.

AC is our CRM and email marketing tool. We keep all of our contacts in AC, use the powerful automations to tag them, and email them accordingly. These three aspects make it second to none in terms of stacking technologies into one easily manageable package. It beasts competitors by a landslide.
  • Email marketing
  • Automations
  • CRM
  • Automatically tagging contacts based on behaviour.
  • Some glitches when using with Chrome
  • Onboarding is way too fast - just blasted with info
AC has allowed us to get rid of various pieces of software because of its combined power of email, automation, and CRM. Before we had a separate CRM, then used Zapier to link it up to an email marketing tool. Because of this, we can also see everything that's happening on one dashboard. Makes life so much easier. A specific scenario is trying to organise and communicate to your email list effectively and efficiently. It's hard to say where it's not appropriate in the areas of email and CRM. Maybe for a business with zero budget, you can get an email marketing tool that does automation for free. But It's not sustainable if you plan on growing; the features will dry up quickly.

I use ActiveCampaign to help create a relationship with them after signing on to my list. I use it to grow and maintain a relationship with monthly emails. Keep track of my list and their interest.
  • Customer Service
  • Making a templates from previously sent emails
  • Info collected on customer
  • The window creating an email it's very clunky and I always seem to end up searching for something.
  • Moving the text boxes around when composing emails can be difficult
  • Changing the text color and other attributes inside the same paragraph or text box doesn't always stay.
The support was great and I liked the timing feature to release the emails but being able to preview it in various ways is always a nice surprise. Being able to see the workflow for the emails and changing the timing of the release of the campaign is good as well. I would like to be able to find out more info on the emails sent. It seems like whatever I'm trying to do on that screen doesn't work. Yet I always try it and right now can't remember what it is. But I'm always like - dang it. How do I find...

The count of the number of people in the CRM vs how many the email gets sent out to is confusing to me. I don't see any reason why they haven't all entered into the master list to get all the standard emails.

We use ActiveCampaign to track internal leads through the sales cycle as well as maintain marketing lists based on different business rules.
  • Automations are easy to create and use.
  • Customization of fields is very user friendly and intuitive.
  • ActiveCampaign has a robust integrations list.
  • Customer service is excellent. :)
  • Tasks cannot be automated outside of deals.
  • It can be difficult to understand how automations may interplay.
  • Zapier integration to GoogleSheets double or triple charges the task runs if new contacts come through that are part of automation to add data to custom fields.
ActiveCampaign is great for people who use a lot of platforms in their tech stack. If working inside various platforms is second nature to you, this platform is very user-friendly. I think it is best suited to small businesses, startups, and medium-sized businesses, but the reporting needs at larger scale enterprises may not be met with AC. That being said, their customer service is excellent, even if it is not phone-based.

I use ActiveCampaign to re-engage with customers, build landing pages and acquire leads, convert leads into conversions, and build embed forms on our website. We have linked our DB with ActiveCampaign, and in this way, we can filter every customer based on their own behavior and on their own data. We also use a lot the automation that lets you segment all the different paths that a customer can take (abandoned cart, birthday gifts, welcome kit email, etc.)

I think ActiveCampaign is well suited for enterprises with multiple paths/scenarios for their customers; if you need to segment customers, well, in this case, use ActiveCampaign. If you need to just send newsletters/campaigns, in this case, ActiveCampaign is ok, of course, but you don't use the entire suite of tools of ActiveCampaign.

Appropriate to send mass emails to your audience and not have to worry about deliverability issues. It also helps keep contacts organized using tags, lists, and other features. It's less appropriate if you need a lot more, like a Hubspot or Salesforce type of CRM, so I wouldn't use it for those types of tasks.

We use ActiveCampaign chiefly as a contact manager and an email campaign platform. We send all of our company's emails out from AC and take notes on clients / group them into lists for easy management. It is our CRM and Marketing Platform. Additionally, we are starting to use the deal features to create sales pipelines for our clients, and it is going very well.
  • Organizing contacts into lists is easy
  • The deals pipelines make sense and are intuitive
  • Seeing a 360 view of a contact is easy and clear
  • The main thing is that it can be clunky and slow. If the software just went faster, my life would be way easier.
  • The drag and drop email builder is hard to use and feels inflexible.
  • Sometimes emails will have strange formatting that doesn't show up on the backend but shows up when I send a test email or real email out. Random font size changes, etc. When I contacted ActiveCampaign, their solution was to literally delete all of my email campaigns and try again. So... not ideal.
If you need to manage clients easily- definitely go with ActiveCampaign. If however, your main thing is emailing people and having really cool email campaigns, a different client is probably better suited. AC really excels on the CRM / deal pipeline side of things. They also have really well-done automations, so if you need lots of automated campaigns or CRM tasks, that will be a good fit.
