Drip Sequences with Ease

I signed up for ActiveCampaign on the recommendation from the consultant I hire to do my marketing. I needed something that would manage multiple client lists and provide an easy means of sending news and updates to each segmented list. We've been able to cultivate and manage our email campaigns with ease and to date haven't had any technical problems with the system itself. It's been really great.
  • List Segmentation
  • Intuitive and Easy to use
  • Great dashboards.
  • I'm not as familiar with the system so can't really say
I can only speak to what I know and I have to say that I was really impressed with the ease with which we could set up drip campaigns. I thought it would be more complicated than it was, but it was highly intuitive and left little room for error.

We use ActiveCampaign (AC) for email marketing to our database of subscribers. We use their segmenting tools to hyper-target emails based on various preferences and purchase data. We make use of their automation sequences to welcome users to the platform and we're now working towards taking advantage of its tracking features to tag users based on actions on-site, etc.
  • Good deliverability
  • Good suite of automations - (beautifully designed)
  • Customer focused - they have been responsive to our needs.
  • Email builder is good but could be improved - particularly for varying images sizes when side by side in a row. I recently found this challenging.
  • Email segmenting is also good as is, but could also be improved - e.g. if I want to schedule 3 emails to similar groups at the same time of day and exclude one group, I have to wait for one email to completely send before I can exclude the group. Logic could be applied to exclude those email addresses to allow me to draft and schedule them all at once.
  • I can't think of anything else I'd improve. it's generally very good.
Personally, I feel AC's USP is that they offer unlimited sends beyond the user capacity of Mailchimp and therefore offer SME's greater flexibility at a reasonable price point. It has everything an SME needs to manage an email marketing-focused operation and I saw today that they are now offering an integration with WhatsApp to allow clients to contact their customers via another channel. This is a great addition.

We use ActiveCampaign to target marketing at new prospects but also to keep existing clients in the loop. We also use it as a tool to stay in touch with current clients who have a "live project" with us. We have automated an email process that keeps our clients informed at every stage of the project development. It also doubles up as a Sales Forecasting and Pipeline tool, so it is truly used as a multi-purpose tool in our business.
  • A fully fledged CRM
  • Keeps track of deals, stages and pipeline
  • Automated campaigns for new and existing customers
  • Slight bug when adding deals (it seems to duplicate the deal but fine after a refresh)
  • Speed has been improved a lot recently, but can be improved further
ActiveCollab is a multi-use tool, and a replacement for say Mailchimp and a CRM, as it does both. Managing deal stages is a breeze too.
It is well suited for created automated scenarios to trigger out customized campaigns for new and existing clients.

I currently use ActiveCampaign as my email marketing system. For now, my company is just me so I do everything! ActiveCampaign makes it easy to add forms to my website for visitors to subscribe to my emails and has some great automation you can set up.
  • Automated email marketing
  • Segmenting email subscribers
  • A bit of a learning curve
  • A lot of features which is a bit overwhelming at first!
ActiveCampaign has been great for my needs so far. I would definitely like to learn the system better to be able to fully make use of all the features. As a solo user on a Lite plan with only a small number of users, it's very affordable but it seems like the pricing increases quickly as you move up in plans and subscribers.

ActiveCampaign is an essential tool that allows us to connect without potential new customers and maintain conversations with our existing customer base. We use automation for onboarding new customers who each go through a sequence that feels personal and is engaging over two weeks. We use video, GIFs as well as text alone and it's easy to create messages that stand out in our new customers' inboxes. We also use the features to keep in touch with our existing client base sharing regular news and updates.
  • Automated sequences
  • Onboarding
  • Customer campaigns
  • Offer review on your account to highlight what you are not using
  • More video demonstrations
  • Reusing templates and past campaigns
So good for onboarding new clients! It's so important to make the right first impression and we needed a tool fit for purpose. The hours we have saved are invaluable in implementing Active Campaign to sequence our onboarding. Before, this was time heavy and also at risk of user error as it could be easy to miss setting up a new client. Our process now is tight and we feel confident that each customer is being sent the right information.

We moved to ActiveCampaign from another email service provider as ActiveCampaign ticked all the right boxes.
We use it to send:
  • We use it to bring in leads from all social and media formats into ActiveCampaign email lists that trigger various email automation.
  • We use it to automate for us what path a lead or client takes within our value ladder of services. Depending on the lead's outcomes, on whether they buy, buy a certain service, click on a certain link, don't click on a certain link, are male or female, or any other circumstances - we can use all the valuable data ActiveCampaign gives us to better serve our clients and lead our potential leads into one of our paid services.
  • We use it as a CRM, email announcements, newsletters, product launches, and more.
  • Email Automations
  • Integrations
  • CRM & Sales Automation
  • Data Tracking
  • Would love a flow chart builder to visually map out my processes
  • More available fonts
  • More training videos
ActiveCampaign is suited for every type of business you can think of.

ActiveCampaign is being used across our business, we have a shop, dog training company, doggy daycare & dog walking services. It helps us to engage with all our customers whether it be using automation, a single email broadcasted to everyone using a campaign, or even the use of conversations on our shop website. It is so versatile, it can help us keep in contact with a large client base.

  • Sending campaigns at the time that the customer is most likely to open it (avail on automation
They have fantastic customer service. We can book regular zoom calls to help us make sure our emails are being set up correctly & that we are using ActiveCampaign in the best way possible. I was stuck on a certain aspect the other week and used their chat box for help, they did a screen recording of different ways I could overcome the issue which was so helpful!

I use it to engage and sell potential customers. It has a ton of functionality. The best feature for me is to really see a diagram of the campaigns I am creating.
  • Great customer service.
  • Robust interface.
  • Different ways of segmenting customers.
  • It would be nice if they could offer quick videos right next to the function you are using. I usually go to youtube and have to waste time searching for someone with the best and shortest video.
  • The tagging can also have something added so that it can easily and automatically be put into past email addresses if I choose to do so.
This tool is great for bigger companies. That is why I have a 9. For smaller companies, it is a little on the higher price side, but I understand it is because it is so robust. Love the functionality and the service by email or phone.

We're using ActiveCampaign as both a CRM and email marketing tool across the whole business:
  1. Managing contacts and recording our interactions with them
  2. Sending regular emails to our mailing list to stay in touch with them and provide educational content
  3. For automations as part of products and services we sell (onboarding and course delivery)
It helps us to stay in touch with people - the advantage over other apps is that it's CRM + email marketing in one, so we can see contact activity relating to email campaigns in the same place as notes, telephone call records, etc.
  • The email builder has a lot of customization options when compared with other email marketing apps.
  • The automation builder is incredibly powerful, particularly when combined with contact tagging. With 'tag added' and 'tag removed' as triggers for automations, there's huge scope for building automation.
  • Forms and landing pages are very useful, especially for list building.
  • My biggest frustration is with the email campaign reports. The UI appears to almost be from a different, much older app entirely. The data I can see about campaigns at a glance is very limited compared to other email marketing apps.
  • More flexibility with Zapier would be a real improvement.
  • The campaign creation process, although mostly excellent, feels a little clunky at times. For example, when choosing a segment to send to (that includes all contacts with a specific tag) I can't see who is in that segment without a number of additional clicks.
Although there are some areas for improvement, I do think it's the best combined CRM and email marketing app available right now - it's flexible enough to cover use cases for those new to using email marketing as well as those with advanced automation. It's perhaps less appropriate for those who aren't tech-savvy - there is a training available but the learning curve is a little steeper than with other email marketing apps.

Used in my sole operator brokerage. I originally got it to replace another newsletter distribution app but then realized it's capable of SO much more- super impressed!!! It will be used across the whole organization- me and a range of contractors in various support roles around the country. I love the integration and automation possibilities- it's brilliant!
  • Marketing campaigns
  • Automations and workflows
  • Analytics
  • It's really slow on my system and no-one can tell me why
  • Huge learning curve, even if you're used to workflows/automations
  • Found it difficult to find stuff in help but that could be just me
Automating and tracking client newsletters, news releases on a one-off basis, I would imagine product releases would go really well because of the really comprehensive analytics and automation available. I'm a newbie so haven't really fully explored what it can do but I can definitely see the potential is huge and will grow with my business with no problems!

I am a nutritionist and weight loss and life coach. I use ActiveCampaign for email newsletter marketing.
It helps me with several lead magnets LINKING to an automated marketing campaign.
It helps me in capturing contacts.
It helps me automate my regular content offerings.
It’s quick and easy.
The customer service is very good.

  • Customer service
  • Automation
  • Newsletters
  • More basic entry level tech support
  • How to videos for beginners
  • Explanation of technology.
To keep in touch with prospects and keep them updated for when they may be ready to work with you in your business or recommend you to another potential client.
When you move from offline to online.
I would imagine it would be more challenging in brick-and-mortar-type businesses.

My business uses ActiveCampaign to communicate with our customers. We run launch email funnels and send email promotions and updates to our customer list. I love that ActiveCampaign has many integrations with other software applications like Kajabi, etc. That was and continues to be a major selling point for our company.
  • Scheduler
  • Multiple lists/domains
  • Integrations
  • Increased subscribers in price brackets
ActiveCampaign is great for businesses who send marketing emails and need to be able to segment their list as well as integrate with other marketing software tools. It would probably be less appropriate for a company that is strictly sending customer newsletters that are very basic/wouldn’t require tagging, segmentation, integration, etc.

I'm using ActiveCampaign in the Sales & Marketing functions of my business. It streamlines and automates communications related to purchase confirmations, newsletter confirmations, course sign-ups, and when people book consultations.

I also use it to send out our email newsletter and reminders about current/upcoming events and promotions.
  • Message Automation
  • CRM
  • Email Newsletters
  • I really can't think of anything. They do a great job with all the services and features they offer.
If you're a small business owner who regularly does consultations with prospective clients and you have (or want to start) an email newsletter. ActiveCampaign does a great job of helping you manage your sales (with their "Deals" feature), contacts, and email newsletter.

The nonprofit that I work for is currently using ActiveCampaign. While we haven't been able to utilize it to its full capacity quite yet, we are eager to use it as a way to track donors and somewhat for grant management. Currently, we are using it mostly as a contact database and will start sending out digital newsletters soon. When choosing a platform, the board of directors had the goal of finding a CRM system - ActiveCampaign had that AND email marketing, which was a plus because we needed that anyway.
  • Customer service is phenomenal
  • Ease of use
  • Additional training and assistance
  • There are a LOT of functions and terminology - a quickly accessed cheat sheet of terms and what each page on the navbar is used for would be helpful.
  • The opt-in process can be quite frustrating; it feels like we have lost contacts due to this system.
  • Email builder is easy to use but there's room for growth. Not currently a lot of font options which can be annoying in terms of staying on brand.
After extensive research of other platforms, ActiveCampaign was the best in terms of aesthetics, ease of use, and customer service. It's well suited for small businesses or nonprofits who are looking to grow without investing too much. The platform is easy enough to pick up and teach yourself making it a great option for someone without much experience with CRM or email marketing. There is always additional training, too, which is great for those who are eager to continue learning how to best utilize the platform.

We use ActiveCampaign to manage multiple automation funnels of different clients. To do so we connect 3rd party tools and analyze all results with external dashboards. All data is real-time connected and being shared across our company. By choosing ActiveCampaign we solved our problem for a one-platform solution. ActiveCampaign fulfills all of our needs on this matter!
  • Quick building of automation funnels
  • Realtime analysis
  • Easy to understand interface
  • Connecting 3rd party tools could be easier
  • Customizing user profiles could be more flexible
The tool is easy to understand, maintain and deployment of automation funnels will happen in real time. Unfortunately working together with other employees could be difficult in certain scenarios. For example, having user-defined rights isn't possible. To do so we have to create different licenses and unfortunately, we cannot switch easily between those. Having this functionality would be a big improvement.

We use ActiveCampaign to carry out email marketing. I am the sole user of the program but use it to reach out to a database of around 10,000 customers on a weekly basis. Active Campaign allows us to communicate with our customers and more importantly, segment our mailing list so that we can send out relevant information to different customers. We also have several email automation set up (such as a welcome email series) which ensures that every new contact is acknowledged and welcomed into our community.

We haven't had the need to use it as we have a medical software outside of Active Campaign that manages our customers as we are a private clinic - but I have had experience with the CRM aspect of Active Campaign and it's brilliant! It makes managing your customers and keeping track of their activity really simple. I also rely on ActiveCampaign to report on the success of my email marketing campaigns too - which it does a great job of!

  • Email scheduling
  • Automations
  • CRM
  • Test emails - have a section to leave a message alongside it
  • Make the forms more customizable
  • Have the option to display time and date in British way
ActiveCampaign is perfectly suitable for our company in that it achieves everything we need. We moved to it from Mailchimp as we felt we'd outgrown Mailchimp. However, I'm very aware that we are using a fraction of what is possible with ActiveCampaign making it a great platform to move forward with.

As a freelancer, I work for entrepreneurs who are starting their businesses and require some way to collect leads and to contact them through email marketing. I’ve been using ActiveCampaign for close to 6 months now and it’s such a godsend to be able to have all the CRM functionality that one would have within a single platform.

It is used across the entire organization and is great for sending out our organization's messages to all our clients and gets the maximum and widest reach possible.
  • Excellent marketing channel
  • Total CRM solution
  • Customer information in a click of a button
  • Little cumbersome on a mobile phone
  • Maybe the security features a little bit too much.
  • Don’t want to keep going to a Authenticator to log in
It is great when one wants to look up client information in the shortest span of time possible.

Is a little cumbersome on a mobile phone and many times seem to toggle between the vertical and horizontal landscapes.

  • The technical support is great
  • A lot of educational tools

  • The speed in which customer service responds
  • More video examples for tutorials for self-teaching
I love it's user-friendliness. But sometimes when dealing with higher volumes of emails, the framework seems to freeze and data is sometimes lost. Otherwise, it is a great system for a beginner and it is also reasonably priced.

I run a small music school and I use ActiveCampaign to keep track of emails for the parents and students as well as keep track of new clients. I only recently started using the CRM component to keep track of the sales process. My only concern with adding new leads is that they require an email address. Sometimes, I only get a phone number before I get an email and it would be nice if I could make an account in Active Campaign without an email required.

I really like the templates for writing great emails. Also, the flow of an email sequence and funnel has saved me valuable time!
  • Email templates
  • Great funnels
  • Email capture
  • Ease of data entry
  • Cannot make a lead account without an email
  • Some language is difficult getting used to as it doesn't line up with industry-standard lingo
  • Signing in is always weird and takes a few extra steps
When I need to send an email to my entire studio, or a newsletter to the studio and those on my list, ActiveCampaign is perfect. If I need to send a one-off email to one client, ActiveCampaign is overkill.

If I need to send a survey or start a sales funnel, Active Campaign is perfect!

I use ActiveCampaign as the primary platform for all of my email marketing -- I design landing pages, monitor lead magnets (love the ability to detail out client funnels), build + nurture my email list, all on ActiveCampaign. Quite literally, since I got ActiveCampaign, I was able to channel most of my marketing through this one platform, as opposed to the several I had to use before.
  • Landing pages -- I know this is a relatively new feature, but this was a selling point for me, and I was not disappointed;
  • Sending emails -- I really like how simple in design/creation (yet formal in appearance) this whole process is.
  • The complexity -- might sound weird, but I *love* how all-inclusive ActiveCampaign is. It was a learning curve for sure, a little overwhelming at first, but after a few incredibly helpful calls with their tech people, I got it down, and life was awesome again.
  • I would like a little more flexibility with the landing pages -- they're great right now, but it's difficult to add a level of creativity that's not within the standard template. It would be great to have some more options for creativity, design, aesthetics.
  • Perhaps this feature exists and I just haven't found it (lol), but it would be cool to be able to create a static email signature.
As a life coach, I feel like ActiveCampaign was almost designed *for* my line of work. Between landing pages, lead cultivation, and the ability to merge ActiveCampaign with so many other platforms, it makes it so easy for me to draw in and nurture potential clients. Especially the option to track leads, add notes + updates, and such, is so great because there are so many people I need to "keep track of" in the initial client stages.

We use it for our email marketing, newsletters, automation, and set up funnels with it. It helps us a lot and we chose it because of the segmented list and because it can grow with us. It's easier to use than other systems.
  • Its easy to plan and set up newsletters to parts of the lists.
  • It has a double opt in feature that we need in Germany
  • It's easy to set up different automations (List Cleaner, Funnels, opt in etc.)
  • I would like it if I could see more easily if unsubscribers left a comment to me.
  • When I write a newsletter and choose the target group I would love the field with the segments to be larger.

We are establishing an online community and learning environment for motorcycle riders, and ActiveCamapign drives our marketing and automation throughout the entire website. ActiveCampaign and the integrations it supports allows us to automate many of the processes we used to do manually, saving us time and money. It also ensures consistency in the data across all areas of our platform. But most importantly it improves and personalises the experience of our users, and that means we have happier members of our community who are then willing to engage with our business more.
  • Automated email marketing - this is one of the greatest strengths of ActiveCampaign
  • Client scoring - this allows us to rank our members on their engagement and tailor marketing to them.
  • Integration with our booking and e-commerce platforms (The Events Calendar/WooCommerce)
  • Dynamic forms. Although the current forms system works really well and integrates perfectly, it is difficult to set up multiple level forms with logic. For example, it would help us greatly if the user could select a country and then have a dynamically generated for to select the state.
We looked at a number of platforms and selected ActiveCampaign because it allows us to easily send targeted marketing material to our members, but many platforms can do this. The pricing structure is fair and far more reasonable than other systems, it integrates well with other technologies (and we have many in our backend systems) and the support and training is superb. Overall, that makes it suitable to all levels of business but especially to those people who are venturing into the world of marketing automation for the first time.
