Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

  • Marketing automation is straightforward, powerful, and became the backbone for all of the marketing funnels that we build for clients.
  • Reporting is robust enough to give our team an idea of what campaigns are working but without overwhelming them with useless details.
  • Advanced CRM features have allowed us to use ActiveCampaign as more than just an email tool but to drive sales pipelines.
  • In the past, the email composition tool started to feel a bit dated and what appeared on screen wouldn't perfectly match the emails as they appeared in the email client.
  • Sometimes the CRM feature became a little distracting from the core function of the email service where clients would get frustrated in using it for sales.
  • When scheduling broadcast emails it would be nice to have a calendar view where you can see what content is scheduled and a better way to collaborate with the writing team.

  • Automations. You can send different emails to users, based on their behavior and their level of interest in your business
  • Form is easily embedded in your website
  • Scoring lets you know who your target clients are
  • If a user signs up to two different lists, he will be counted twice
  • Email editor is not so easy to use

  • The automation builder is a huge timesaver. I am able to automate many tasks such as alerts to sales which keeps the marketing team and sales team all on the same page.
  • The campaign builder is easy to use and makes beautiful emails that are consistently rendered correctly across multiple email service providers. The drag and drop functionality really makes creating emails a breeze.
  • The reports I can generate from campaigns are detailed and have everything I need to analyze and adjust for future campaigns. The reports can also get very detailed based on what information needs to be reviewed.
  • The CRM has some limitations, that make it difficult to use. We use another CRM in addition to ActiveCampaign so it isn't a huge deal for us but it is a sticking point for some. For example, users don't have the ability to assign more than one email address to a contact which makes organizing communication a bit of a stress.
  • Some bugs pop up here and there in the email builder like the undo button not functioning properly or text boxes/images not being placed where they should be but these are minor inconveniences in the scheme of things.

  • Distribution list creation and management
  • Creation of standardized emails which can be customized using customer tags/fields
  • Provides great data on how people respond to marketing, where they stop/progress in a marketing campaign
  • A little more flexibility and functionality on email templates would be the icing on the cake.

  • More explanation as you pick a task for an automation on what that will do for the automation. I made sooooooo many simple mistakes in the beginning that caused quite a few an hours to fix.
  • Emails in campaigns can only be found to 'duplicate' or review by getting into a campaign. Would like to access all emails I have sent from one location in the platform.
  • It's big and complex. I am only using a small percentage of what it offers. Feel like a guppy in the ocean and wonder what I am missing out on. It can be really overwhelming for a small business owner starting out. I wish there was a more basic, entry level to Active Campaign that had just 10 things you can do. The top 10 things you can use the platform for to jumpstart your business. And then add on from there.

  • Easy to use the Automation feature
  • Great for Mass Email Blast
  • Super Versatile with integrating Lead Capture from multiple websites such as Wistia, Vimeo, etc.
  • Could have a better dashboard for sales
  • Content manager could have a better folder structure
  • A direct link to access a dashboard that could be customized for reports could be useful

  • Segmenting email subscribers into relevant subgroups
  • Sending and tracking email response rates to a large list of subscribers
  • Storing and organizing various details about subscribers for easy reference
  • I'd love to see more of the advanced split-testing type features on the lower-tier plans
  • Sometimes the logic around who should be getting what emails can get confusing
  • The WYSIWYG editor can sometimes be buggy when building visual emails

  • Handle automations like no other service out there.
  • Is able to create more finely tuned interactions and adjust content based on user interaction.
  • Superb deliverability. In my experience very few emails go into spam folders thanks to the stellar backend of ActiveCampign
  • The automation takes some time to build. There are helpful templates, and yet I find myself wanting to build from scratch which is a bit more complicated.
  • They recently launched the page builder for landing pages that is good. And I'd like to see the feature improved and receive a facelift to look a bit more modern.

  • Very simple to get started if you're familiar with marketing software.
  • Impressive customer success initiatives. Reps from Active Campaign work with you to actually get more out of the platform and only upsell where it makes sense based on current operations (aka they're not annoying or spammy).
  • Loads of documentation that helps with learning all of the features.
  • Active Campaign doesn't have any noticeable limitations with the way I use it. It may be somewhat challenging for a user who has never used any automation software, but that's very quickly remedied by the company's support & documentation.

  • Timely Customer Support (live chat and they can fix things/review things for you) — this was a big plus when we switched from Mailchimp which offered little support
  • The amount of things that can be integrated into the automations (ie texting)
  • General organization and an easy to use site. Lots of sites are complicated, but ActiveCampaign has a easy-to-navigate website.
  • Random glitches can occur — and ActiveCampaign does not give a heads up about them. We lost several participants to numerous workshops over a month period because there was a glitch with Automations across ActiveCampaign – but there was no communication giving us a heads up about it.
  • IT Desk — I've had issues go unresponded for 2+ weeks. By the time someone got back to me I had just worked around it.
  • I would love to see an option to have people pay via the online forms.

  • CRM functionality is sub-par compared to other CRMs
  • Reporting is very basic and lacking advanced functionality [for my needs]
  • Advanced automations, triggers, and connections between workflows are not working well at all
  • [In my experience], the Chatbot is extremely basic and lacking
