Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

Adaptive is very intuitive and easy to use and requires no involvement from my local IT team. As a non-programmer, I am able to administer the system and create reports, integrations, versions, and security myself.

Setup requires considerable pre planning. Major changes to budgets require time to implement. I can see this being more difficult to use for someone who is not a superuser. A individual user just updating budgets would not have a difficult time with the program but a superuser who designs worksheets must stay ontop of changes in the program.

In general, Adaptive Suite is very easy to pick up and use with minimal training (I learned Adaptive and implemented the model myself with no training or implementation team.) There are a few aspects that are a little more complicated (formula syntax, cube sheets), and I feel that those aspects do require some training or support from Adaptive or partner consultants. Some of the executives have had a little difficulty with the report builder, and those who use Macs have seen some unique issues.

I enjoy that it is a cloud-based solution. I also like that it can make complex calculations and reiterations quickly. I believe the solution is capable of operating at a much higher level than we are currently using it. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to develope enough expertise to get the most out of the solution.

Sometimes, certain features or functions don't seem to react the way you'd expect. One time I was building a model with OfficeConnect and accidentally broke some of the formulas due to a simple row insert. It wasn't disastrous but felt like it could've been easier to figure out. Another thing is drilling down on understanding which vendors are driving what costs in our budgets.

I'm a veteran to FP&A, and have used Excel, Oracle Hyperion/Essbase, and several other tools. And this by far is the best. it has been the easiest to use because it's all on-line (off premise) and doesn't require any assistance from IT or Developers to make changes to your data fields and/or attributes.

Adaptive Planning is intuitive and it's easy to train our users since the database looks a lot like an excel spreadsheet. I've been an Admin for five years and it's easy to maintain the system (setting up users, adding new accounts/cost centers, adding new mappings, controlling access, etc.). The consultants at Adaptive Suite are very accessible and we've engaged them on numerous occasions. For instance, we used consultants to assist with implementing structural changes to our organization (we added legal entities) and with modeling corporate allocations when new allocation functionality became available.

Adaptive operates like Excel and most business managers know Excel. Most of the effort and lift reside with the managers. There is more of a technical expertise required for maintenance, dash-boarding and report writing. But, the admin staff are fewer and can be staffed by subject matter experts.

There is a learning curve to using Adaptive but it is easily overcome with regular use. Once a user is comfortable with the tool it is easy to navigate and faster than moving between and maintaining multiple files as was required before Adaptive was implemented.

Prior to my current role as Adaptive administrator I had never managed a planning system before. I joined the company 80% through the implementation and was somewhat apprehensive with the system administrator role. Fortunately I found Adaptive to be extremely intuitive and user friendly. In the rare situation where I need help, the customer support is excellent in terms of knowledge and response times.

Adaptive is very easy to use but can grow into a complex and intimidating system. It was very easy to build multiple models to meet varying needs, but this led to the system getting too complex. With the multiple models, we needed to have multiple different instructions and training. We have found ourselves needing to eliminate some of the models created at the initial implementation. In a sense it was too user friendly as we tried to make it all things for everyone.
