Google Analytics is perhaps the best-known web analytics product and, as a free product, it has massive adoption. Although it lacks some enterprise-level features compared to its competitors in the space, the launch of the paid Google Analytics Premium edition seems likely to close the gap.

Many reporting projects can benefit from Adobe Analytics. During the live period of a campaign, we can track its performance, for example. Utilizing Adobe Analytics may be able to help us locate the errors if we are experiencing them as well. Quick calculations are a situation where Adobe Analytics may not be as effective as other tools. Excel and Report Builder are both better alternatives for quick calculations.

Adobe Analytics is well suited for organizations that have the time and resources to invest in people who will be able to leverage the tool. It's not a simple tool to stand up, maintain, and easily use within the first year or so of learning. If you have a strong, mature organization with analytical needs this tool can be extremely useful. I find marketers struggle to adopt the use of Adobe Analytics compared to Google Analytics, and, in most cases, a parallel implementation is recommended even if it's a free version of Google Analytics.

Adobe Analytics is well suited for more mature analytics organizations and companies where analytics are part of the culture and the thirst for data beyond the basics is in play. For companies looking for more basic analytics and metrics, Adobe Analytics may be both too expensive and too complex. If you're just trying to get from point A to point B, you don't need a fancy car.

For companies that are new to analytics or already have an investment in Adobe, I feel that Adobe Analytics is a great fit and will enhance their investment with the other platforms. For folks who need more detailed analytics, a BI tool or a CDP might be the answer depending on requirements. The reporting and dashboard elements can be very useful if configured properly.

I would recommend using Adobe Analytics if you:
-Want a robust web/app analytics program
-Want to create specific segments, metrics, etc.
-Need the ability to customize the data you are seeing
-Have the budget for it

I would not recommend using Adobe Analytics if you:
-Do not need robust analytics (can get by with the basics)
-Do not have the budget for an analytics tool

Adobe Analytics is great for any size company that requires a tool to track across many areas of a business (in the marketing realm, of course). Email, app performance, various marketing programs (e.g., display ads, retargeting, etc.) can all be tracked and reported on in this tool. Much more reliable than competitors out there.

Adobe is suited when you are consolidating multiple data sources that are offline and online. It is not as useful when you have a minimal amount of sources, such as one or two. Overall, it's great to see a topline overview of your campaign as well as analyzing the data using their data visualization tools.

Adobe Analytics is useful for many reporting projects. For example, for different campaigns that are launched, we are able to see its performance while it's live. If we are also seeing issues, using Adobe can help us drill down on the errors.

A scenario where Adobe Analytics is less appropriate is for quick calculations. For quick calculations, Excel would be a better alternative combined with using Report Builder.

Adobe Analytics is good if you have a dedicated team to be able to get into all the details and variety of data points. I would only recommend it if you have a sophisticated IT support team that will work well with the data analytics team.

I do not recommend this tool if you are using a custom integration. My company is using a custom integration and many times the IT teams will retire a data layer or something similar and it can actually break all of our data at once.

All in all, if you are looking for basic data that is easy to understand and pull from and you do not need custom integrations just use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. If I could revert my company back to Google, I honestly would. The data [feels] untrustworthy half the time in Adobe due to IT user errors.

Adobe Analytics works really well for understanding overall digital customer journeys and key drop out points. This allows the analyst to really dig into the data and provide value and insight back to product teams. However, we find it hard internally to drive self serve usage compared to tools like mix panel purely due to how much data is available.
We have also found it works really well for understanding our marketing attribution and the level of customisation you can do here really helps us define it in our own way.

[Adobe Analytics is] fantastic if you need to see many data points in one place and not just focus on generalized metrics. May not be so good if you are not familiar with how to dissect and take actionable steps on customer journey and site data. Recommended for any business with multiple web properties and at least 50K site visit per month.

This platform is excellent for enterprise level analytics. Analytics is flexible - equally suited for tracking ecommerce as is page view and video view events. Tracking video has been made easier with the rollout of Heartbeat tracking (superseding milestone-event based video tracking). Custom tracking variables can leverage an existing dataLayer without too much difficulty.

Analytics is expensive, and cost may be a barrier towards entry when free solutions exist - chiefly, Google Analytics.

If you have a dedicated resource to be your Adobe Analytics Administrator, Adobe can be a great tool. If not, and being the Adobe Admin is a small part of a person's role, the clunkiness of the admin tool and working with support when needed may cause a burden. Overall, once data and users are configured in Adobe Analytics, the reporting works very well.

I have always wanted an excellent and cost-effective analytics tool, so I chose Adobe Analytics accordingly. It is a very user-friendly platform that offers different and easy-to-use features. It is no doubt a great invention highly recommended. I am also highly impressed by its customer support that gives well and professional response.

Adobe Analytics is a fine product if you are integrating with other tools within the Adobe Marketing Suite. In general, it works well. Feature set is very comparable to Google Analytics. It can drill down in some area more than GA, but overall I'm mixed on the Adobe product. It's fine, but not amazing in any particular area. Implementation only makes sense if you are looking for a particular feature.

We fully recommend this tool because it contains a very friendly platform for those companies that want to automate control functions and data analysis. It is a good alternative to track all web traffic by taking all the data, simplifying it and expressing it in a very accurate way. It makes it better and simpler than Google Analytics.

Appropriate for Scenarios where you are ready to redefine your measurement metrics, where you know what your are looking for in data tracking and if you already have other Adobe marketing cloud products integrated. It won’t fit in if you have rigid processes and user journeys which you cannot define properly.

If the organization can afford it and has a very large volume of online transactions, Adobe Analytics is the best tool out there. This tool will provide very detailed insights on your customer depending on the implementation. It might be costly to implement and purchase, but the return will be much much higher.

But if the site is not that big, then the free version of Google Analytics might be a better option. It takes some expertise to implement the tool. Just to understand the basics, one will have to spend quite a bit of time using the tool.

Adobe Analytics is great for providing valuable insights to all levels within an organization in an easy-to-consume way. Business users that have minimal analytics or database knowledge may find it more challenging initially without some guidance from other users.

Adobe Analytics is well suited if:
  • Your company is already leveraging Adobe Experience Cloud/licensing other Adobe products. The integration with other Experience Cloud tools is one of the biggest advantages.
  • You require powerful and robust analytics reporting greater than that of what Google Analytics can provide.
  • Your company/team places a big emphasis on page path tracking and conversions from click paths. AA has two powerful and useful features that track the page path. The Pathfinder tool can be configured in multiple ways and shows the page paths that a user takes when on a specified page on your site. If you are seeking to find out the path users take on your site, this is a wonderful feature. The Fallout report is also beneficial for measuring conversion rates. It shows the percentage of users that drop off on a given click path that you specify, letting you see where users are most likely to lose interest/drop off.
Adobe Analytics is less useful if:
  • You are a smaller company with a smaller budget.
  • You don't have integrations with other Adobe products.
  • You need just basic reporting and can live without the bells and whistles.

[Adobe Analytics] is best suited for digital analytics like web analytics and customer journey. It can handle a tremendous amount of data and the beauty of being online it will work faster than any other web analytics tool. Dashboards and reports are super easy to create with the drag and drop functionality.

Adobe products work well together. So, if money is not your biggest concern and you want quality data and seamless workflow, Adobe Analytics is the way to go. The huge upfront cost is not everything; you'd need quite a bit of investment into deployment and support. But once the initial setup is done, there are many use cases for the tool: you can set goals and alerts to track your users' behavior end to end. Scheduled reports are useful to share with stakeholders and decision-makers across the organization.

Adobe Analytics is super friendly to business users who prefer to have self service for their web data requirements. It takes time to implement and the implementation process is not very easy, especially for people with less exposure. The third party integrations are a big plus for Adobe Analytics however.
