Adobe Captive Prime is used by researchers and web developers in my particular company to increase productivity and offer new training pathways for employees. This program is mostly used for internal training. For the most part, this program is used only in specific areas of the company- primarily for systems support and IT.
  • I appreciated the Amazon infrastructure scalability that is associated with the program.
  • The programs easy-to-use single webpage layout makes creating courses easy and efficient.
  • I loved the fact that there were both online and offline platforms. This made employee certification process unique to the student.
  • There is the occasional device compatibility issue.
  • Difficult to monitor progress of employees in a course when there is a significant number of employees
  • Overall employee management tracking could be improved— do not want to download excel spreadsheets to track employees (why not integrate spreadsheet software into the system?)
I feel this product is well suited when a company needs to develop certifications and training modules for employees in a timely and effective manner. Overall, this product offers a wide variety of tools but the integrated management of employee tracking could be significantly improved. This way, third party apps would not be necessary.

  • Increased productivity in employee certification
  • Increased convenience for systems administrators to create and upload company wide content.
  • Decreased employee complaints about the company’s learning management software.
Unfortunately, I did not have any experiences with a Customer Success Manager at Adobe; I often had other colleagues interact with them. From what I have heard, their experience with the Support Manager was nothing but exceptional. They were often clear and concise with answers to our questions and offered constant support.
I believe that Adobe was much more complicated in the integrate of our employees’ information. However, the easy-to-use architecture made this program unique in that we could offer more content and create more courses for our employees than the other learning management systems. This is where I believe Adobe Captivate Prime separates itself from the competition.

Currently, our company uses this program and another competitor for our learning management software. We like the adaptability of this program and appreciate the customer service that Adobe provides, however the other program is starting to turn out to be a better value for our company as they improve their compatibility.

  • Product Usability
The most important factor in our decision to use Adobe was the it provides a great value for a product with multiple uses within our company. We love that this product can impact many different teams within our organization and we appreciate how we can each use the product independently.
N/A. I believe we did a great job evaluating and selecting this product.
  • Implemented in-house
No
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled
Our company did a great job of adapting our existing software to the Adobe Captivate Prime learning management software. The changes were small during our implementation and we had the people and the skills necessary to handle any problems with ease.
  • Training users how to use the product
  • In-house communication errors between executive members and implementers
  • Small implementation discrepancies between implementers
Unfortunately, I was not a part of the implementation of Adobe Captivate Prime learning management software in our company, but I was present after its implementation. From what others tell me, the implementation of the product was fine and there were only a few issues that primarily focused on internal communication errors about what we would use the product for.
  • no training
The product was extremely difficult to learn without formal training. I wish I would have had training like my colleagues in my department, but once I gained more knowledge and experience, the program was easy to use.
Adobe Captivate Prime is extremely configurable. Our team was able to configure this learning management program fairly easily and we were able to see the results quickly. Overall, I was please with the configurability of this software.

Adobe Captive Prime support is fantastic. The support staff are extremely knowledgeable and they understand the issues that can arise with the product. Additionally, there are other users that we were able to connect with to collaborate on common issues with the product. Absolutely loved the support!
  • Creating the personalized eLearning
  • External integration with other applications
  • Generating reports from the users of the software is extremely fast and easy
  • Initial learning how to interact with the interface
  • There are quite a few functionalities in the program to learn
  • Tracking and Reporting within is a little difficult to understand initially
Yes, but I don't use it
Adobe Captivate Prime's overall usability is fantastic. There are a variety of features and user adaptations that can be added to mold this learning management software to your specific needs. I appreciated how multiple people could use this software to develop our learning management package within our company.
The product's overall scalability and flexibility is extremely good. I wish that the other products our company uses were this flexible! The product is easy to deploy across multiple departments and teams as needed.
The availability of Adobe Captivate Prime learning management software was second to none. The program was always working and running smoothly for me when I needed it. Errors and unplanned outages were few and far between.
The performance of Adobe Captivate Prime is also extremely good. The user interface is fast and easy to load. The complexity is not nearly as bad as some of the other programs on the market. Speed was not impacted.
  • Leadership Development Program
  • Company eLearning
We were able to implement this learning management system into our leadership development program. Overall, this software was extremely compatible with the material taught and this software provided a great resource for our users. Similar to the leadership development program, this software was also integrated into our company-wide eLearning initiative. This also went smoothly

We use Adobe Captivate Prime for our video training of our employees. On our end, we are able to see if they completed their training. We are also able to assign new training courses that are required for our drivers to be unlocked to drive for us.
  • Training videos
  • Ability to have videos assigned by email
  • Seeing which videos are not completed
  • In the instructor menu you cannot sort the list by any means
  • Not able to assign training to employees without an email
Adobe Captivate Prime is well suited in most aspects except for the sorting of completed training and the inability to assign training without email.

Currently, Prime is being used across the entire organization. We'd like to expand to external partners but are not quite ready to make the leap. During New Hire training, I provide access to courses I created as an Instructional Designer in Adobe Captivate. As new hires progress through the LMS courses, they are graded on short quizzes.
  • The ability to pull reports showing what the user answered correctly and incorrectly.
  • The ability to provide other manager's access to their direct reports learning progression.
  • Workflow is very editable. For example, once a user completes __ course, the LMS will automatically make ___ course available.
  • Although reporting provides detailed reports, it does not always work correctly. Frequently, scores will not publish correctly leaving only a percentage to be viewed.
  • When Prime is updated, I frequently have to reach out to the developers advising that something is not working correctly. I use Captivate for instructional creation.
  • Customer service is not always easy to reach.
In my experience, Adobe Captivate Prime is well suited for most scenarios. How well it's suited for them is determined by two things:
  1. How well you (or the LMS manager) are familiar with Prime capabilities and workarounds.
  2. How experienced the Instructional Designer is.
Most often, the workaround is found within the system used to create the course content (i.e Captivate) and not within Prime.

  • To date, there has been quite a bit of ROI. Without Prime, our staff would not have the ability to reinforce their learning on their own.
  • Prime has also opened the eyes of my colleagues to the importance of having an LMS. I'm not sure if Prime will be our LMS forever, but it certainly did its job as a beginner LMS.
Prime had just launched an update that did not mesh well with my existing Captivate courses. I reach out and within a few hours, I had a fix for my problem. The CSM walked me through how to fix the issue, even going as far as recreating a project of mine with minor changes that accommodated the update.
I really selected Prime because of the ability to send my captivate projects directly to Prime. I have not explored many other products.

Employees use Prime in our organization to support in-class learning. Prime provides a very easy approach to creating asynchronous learning.

Myself, and the Instructional designer support Adobe Prime. The usability is pretty easy, however, it helps to have experience operating an LMS before. There are a lot of options and configurability that getting the system just right can be a little overwhelming.

My company is currently using WordPress for our internal Resource Center. Although Prime has proved to be a great LMS option, we will be transitioning to LearnDash in the near future as it is built for WordPress users.

Because I currently use Adobe Captivate to create my computer based training content, it seemed logical to use an LMS that was built around that software. Also, with as many products and the price of them, I assumed Adobe would offer fantastic support for their product. Their support is 7/10 in my opinion.
We are actually currently in the process of building another LMS, LearnDash. The pros of captivate prime are not out weight the benefit of housing our LMS within our internal Resource Center.
  • Implemented in-house
  • Implemented by a staff member
N/A. A staff member implemented the prime.
  • no training
Yes and no. The system can be very simple depending on what you are trying to do. I can also easily become very complex. As stated in other areas of this review, the reporting feature of Prime really needs it's own design team if it does not already have one. There is a lot to be desired there.
I do think the configurability is too limited. On the Learner profile, the colors can be changed and select features added and removed. There is not a lot of customization aside from those options.
Have a clear idea of what you are after. Without that, it's easy to get lost in how you want the system to perform and be viewed by others.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface
The default interface offers a lot of features that are either too difficult to use or we just don't need. It is nice to have them available though.
No - we have not done any custom code
No
We do not have premium support. In my experience, I usually troubleshoot the system myself before reaching out. Often times, I'm able to find a work around to issues without having to communicate with Adobe.
Yes
It took some time to get resolved but I was kept in contact with. However, there are still bugs that have been reported in the past that are still unresolved.
I chose a rating of 7/10 because although Adobe support does seem to be available, I'm often sent to different teams who I have to explain my issue to multiple times. It's also frustrating because I use Captivate as my course creation software. In my mind, the connection between Captivate and Captivate Prime should be seamless as I assume these two systems were designed as a result of one another.
  • Assigning courses
  • Enrolling users
  • loading courses
  • Reporting
  • Courses with a Question Pool
  • Removing a course from a user profile
Reporting is a HUGE factor in any LMS. We also have some complex courses we built in Captivate and loaded to Captivate Prime. Captivate Prime often times does not accurately report the scores. Therefore, I have spent a great deal of time trying to get the scores to compute.
There has been no limit to space that I am aware of.
On a few occasions, I've logged in to issue a test to a staff member and my course would just spin. I've had to reschedule several test attempts due to this. In my opinion, the issue was not resolved by Adobe.
As far as speed goes, Prime is fantastic. No issues there.
  • Adobe Captivate
Simple for the most part. There is an option within Captivate to publish the project directly to captivate prime. I will miss this feature in our future LMS.
  • no.
No.
  • File import/export
  • Single Signon
no.
No issues integrating with Adobe Captivate at all.
If you have Adobe Captivate, all of your courses should be able to be imported into Prime pretty seamlessly. The issue will be with reporting if anything at all.
I did not work with sales.
The contact at Adobe was great. The product is expensive for a small company but the contact was great.
I did not negotiate.
Nope. Good luck!
Yes
Minimal down time, it depends on what minimal means to you? There was an instance where a new release was available and ALL of my projects would not play. It was resolved relatively quickly but with a name like Adobe, I expect more QA.
