Marketo is used both internally for our companies marketing as well as externally by our clients for their marketing efforts. Internally our email production and marketing departments use Marketo. Marketo and their robust APIs has enabled our email team to get rid of many custom built one off solutions and to onboard existing and new clients to Marketo.
- Marketo makes content creation easy. Users unfamiliar with HTML/CSS can build emails with a drag-and-drop editor. Email versioning is a great feature too that has saved me from myself time and time again.
- Easily build triggered & automated messages based on lead information, actions and more.
Cons
- Marketo customer support is terrible.
- Online training portal is dated and could be much more engaging/interactive. Most of the free training offered through Marketo are just low quality pre-recorded videos. Additional video topics and more interactivity would be ideal.

Marketo is being used across our entire organization. It allows us to market more effectively to our customers and allows us to make business decisions with the data we are able to collect. It is useful for filling our sales funnel and determining which customers are most ready to engage with your business.
- Reporting is simple. You can easily track how well your campaigns are doing, complete tests, make improvements and see the results.
- Managing campaigns works well. They allow you to send timely information, focus on the customer, and utilize tokens and segments to personalize your campaigns.
- Creating and testing emails and landing pages is easy and useful. You can increase your conversions greatly.
- Marketo Web personalization and account based marketing are great tools to further help drive business.
Cons
- Would like to have added feature of subscribing to smart lists as reports. - Marketo has listened to its customers and added this feature! Great job Marketo

Marketo is largely being used for marketing campaigns to prospects (70%) and email engagement with current clients (30%). Marketing uses the platform the most, but our support and customer success teams use it to manage our lead database for current clients. It addresses our number 1 and 2 business goals: demand generation and customer engagement.
- Customization/Personalization. We love the ability to customize anything - including logos in emails. This is a necessary feature for our enterprise partners.
- Unlimited collaboration. We have many users in the system at one time, and not being restricted is necessary.
- Salesforce integration!
Cons
- Database issues. We have lots of duplicates in our system and there isn't an easy way to clean it up without a third party plugin.
- Analytics. We do not have the upgraded analytics package, and without a deployment team we weren't able to learn how to effectively utilize this area.

Marketo is used primarily by our marketing team, but we roll that data into our ROI reporting for the whole organization. It informs marketing decisions and helps us connect with and nurture prospects and clients.
- Nurture streams can help you connect with prospects and stay top of mind with existing clients.
- Roadshows/Events are streamlined with Marketo.
- Data integration with Salesforce and Marketo are valuable for sales and marketing planning.
Cons
- More social media features, like social advocacy programs, would be nice to see.
