Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

  • Great for pushing content quickly to site and tracking success metrics.
  • Ease of use for marketers, but ability to become more complex for technical web development.
  • Needs to be integrated with Adobe Marketing Suite, primarily SiteCatalyst. Does not even integrate well with the suite even though it is from the same product line.
  • Can get very confusing and detailed. Need to spend a good bit of time training on it.
  • Adobe recommends mBoxes around each area you want to test. This is not needed, save your time and money and place a global mBox on the page and run tests with some basic JavaScript and jQuery.
Try not to let your company begin using it as a CMS. Will start drifting that way with the ease of use but will only cause problems in the long term over what actually works.
  • Increased bookings.
  • Increased Conversions Rates.
  • Ability to implement personalization models.
  • Integrate with 3rd party solutions such as Jira, Qlikview, etc. but took good bit of development to do.
  • Used primarily for A/B and Multivariate testing. Then used as a very agile CMS to get content pushed to site without backend changes to the page structure.
  • Used as a CMS due to ability to quickly launch new creatives & copy
  • Personalized offers based on incoming variables
  • Temporary bug fixes till proper fix deployment
Overall good product but very expensive.
No
None before.
  • Vendor implemented
  • Implemented in-house
Implement using a global mBox on the page so you can change any and everything over the traditional method. Traditional method is good if you do not have technical web dev resources, do not know Javascript/jQuery, or you have money to blow on mBox calls.

Global deployment reduces mBox calls and allows you to touch many parts of the page easily. A lot more customizable.

Consultants understand how to use the product and business approach but not how it works technically and how to improve the technical implementation. Their rockstar technical consultant left.
Online training was average. More videos would help and help sections integrated into the interface would be best over navigating to help section away from work.
It was easy but helpful to have the learning manual. I recommend learning from an expert.
Yes
Needed it for a multi-billion dollar enterprise to ensure everything ran smoothly and any problems were corrected ASAP.
They have some idea of how to debug problems, but much of the time was spent on understanding hierarchical structure of the support team because escalation often slow.

Adobe T&T

  • It tracks and monitors visitors, conversion and dozens of site metrics. T&T allows us to present several different experiences to consumers while monitoring the success of each change.
  • It does not always work with other software platforms such as Demandware.
  • T&T has increased revenue for my company by helping identify areas our site can improve. We have generated an additional $10 million plus in revenue.
We will renew. For web testing T&T is the best product out there.
If you are interested in doing web testing for any small, medium, or large organization T&T is the only software program you should should consider.

  • We use T&T to do A/B testing across a variety of different websites.
  • Professional services company
Was implemented at our organization before I began working with it.
  • In-person training
3 day in-person training.
We needed some unique configuration based on our company's business model.
Yes
We have support from several T&T representatives.
Our support is in India, so it makes communicating in real time difficult because of the time difference.
Can be difficult to learn, but once you understand Mboxes and the nuances of the system it's very user friendly.
No significant problems.
The bottleneck is never the software program
  • Demandware.
Great to work with.
Charged based on Mboxs firing. Higher the volume, the cheaper per fire.

  • In the primary uses in which we use T&T, it helps with the delivery of content.
  • T&T helps segment the users we are targeting during the promotional period we are using the system for.
  • I have not run into any issues with our current usage.
  • The system has helped create a great user experience, therefore generating more traffic and increasing conversion on the site.
I enjoy using the system. It has delivered each time we have used it and relied on it.
Overall, I really enjoy using Test & Target. The system has provided some much needed robustness to our promotions when we need it. It has helped create a really great user experience during the promotions for which we have used T&T, and our customers seem to be really attracted to the responsiveness we are able to create while using Test & Target

  • We currently use T&T to help serve dynamic content during promotions.
Prior to Test & Target, we did not have a comparable system.
  • Implemented in-house
Implementation was fairly easy, no huge setbacks or issues
  • Online training
Any instance where we have needed additional support, we have received timely and helpful responses from our T&T reps
System is fairly easy to learn. Once you master the ins and outs, you are generally good to go.
  • We will be implementing on two of our other domains within the coming year.
I wasn't part of the team during this process.
I'm not sure on this aspect, negotiation and final sale was done prior to my joining the web team.

  • Allows for A/B and MVT Testing very well.
  • Provides detailed reporting.
  • Relatively simple implementation.
  • Allows marketers to test content without IT involvement.
  • Implementation is dated now compared to other tools.
  • Some of the 'flexibility' of the tool actually makes it more complex.
  • Increases in conversion of 50-100% depending on the pages.
Because the value we receive is greater than the cost of ownership/maintenance
Recommended that you have a staff that is trained and committed to the software.

Webtrends Optimize was on the list. Ultimately, my previous experience with Adobe T&T led us to make the decision to use it.
  • Implemented in-house
Ensure that documentation is thorough and detailed. Make no assumptions that IT or developers know why they are doing what you're asking them to do, and provide detailed instructions to them.
  • Self-taught
I would recommend certification/training. Since I had completed it before in a previous job, we didn't need to pay for it again.
No need, the software had what we needed.
No
Because of my previous employment at Omniture/Adobe, I am certified in the use of the software and the testing methodologies. We don't need to pay for outside expertise.
Interface is intuitive and easy to use.
  • Adobe SiteCatalyst
It was fairly simple. Some additional code (vendor supplied) allowed testing data to be piped into analytics software.
Great during sales to provide demos, and case studies.
Where possible, negotiate to only be billed in active tests. Often times, you will have 'empty' marketing boxes tagged that will be billed if you're not careful.

  • The product interface is very easy to use. Tests are easy to set up and manage.
  • From the development standpoint, tests are not any easier to set up than they would be manually. They actually are more complicated and provide more work to our development team.
  • The software is extremely expensive. You cannot segment your tests or campaigns by geo-targeting, for example, unless you pay extra for that portion of the package.
  • Customer service was easy to get into contact with, but your consulting time with them is very limited, and they weren't always knowledgeable about the issues you needed help with.
  • The software is mainly centered around the "Target" portion of the product (I would say about 75% of the product is devoted to this). Once testing completes, there are many options to push your winning campaigns live and target them to specific segments. Unfortunately this adds to the expense of the software; you pay by impressions. We also use an external ad display software. For these reasons, we did not use any of the targeting portion of the product, which left 75% of it unusable.
  • Test results are real-time, but we found they weren't always accurate. For example, when we would implement the winning campaign from a test, we often found no drastic improvement in conversion, or sometimes it even converted worse.
  • Our site is primarily motivated to generate more traffic and conversions (leads) for our clients. In using this software, we had hoped to optimize our traffic and lead generating pieces so that we maximized signups.
The software is so expensive that we can only use it in limited capacity. It does not simplify any work for our development team in our testing process. We also found that testing results from it weren't always accurate.
If your website is lighter in traffic and you have the money to pay for this software, it is good for serving ads and targeting user segments. But if you are comfortable with doing this process manually and have a good development team to help you, it would be better to save your investment.
  • This product is used for A/B testing to help optimize conversions across our site.
We did all of our a/b testing manually through the development team.
  • Implemented in-house
Implementation was very slow and we didn't know the details or timeline until it had already been activated (so we missed our first period of use for the software).
  • Online training
  • In-person training
  • Self-taught
The instructor that came to train us was awesome and this training was very useful. I would recommend it for anyone who is going to be using this software. I only mark it lower because it is an added expense to an already expensive product, and a lot of the training covered the "Target" portion of the software (which again, we didn't use).
The training was very easy to understand, however it would have been more useful to my development team than me. It was also primarily over-the-phone, which is never as easy to follow as in-person. We ended up scheduling and paying for an in-person training session to supplement the online/phone training because it wasn't helpful enough.
You can get the basics from self-training, but you miss a lot of the additional features and details without doing a formal training. If a company is going to seriously invest and use this software, I highly recommend you pay for a trainer to come and help you.
Customer service was friendly and very reachable. However, they weren't always knowledgeable in helping us solve our problems. Also, because of our contract we were limited in the number of support hours and help we could receive.
