What is Adobe Workfront?
The platform's Capacity Planner allows a manager to move resources to where they are needed, and has some automation features (e.g. the Set Best Fit option, which attempts to allocate resources optimally within given constraints). Agile project management is supported with features like Gantt charts, an easily viewable and manipulable backlog, and storyboarding. Team members can be managed with the aid of quantitative metrics that show where work would be best allocated.
A free trial is available, after which Workfront comes in four pricing options. The lowest tier is Collaboration for small groups, followed by Work which adds mobile accessibility and time sheets, then Plan which adds additional analytic, planning, and reporting features. Finally, Enterprise Plus offers the highest configurability as well as support and data security.

Reviews
(1-25 of 157)- Project management
- Keeping employees accountable for deadlines
- Keeping the whole team in the loop with updates in real time
- It's a very large program - which is a good thing for a large corporation with hundreds of ongoing projects, but can be daunting if you're not used to it
- Although it's scalable, It could be a bit more user-friendly for small business owners
- It's expensive - and rightfully so - but for a small biz to incorporate it's definitely an investment
Right for Collaborating Teams
- Easy to use
- Ability to create notes/write comments
- Ability to add the predecessor link in tasks
- Ability to add screenshots in the comment section
- Modern UI - it can use a little improvement there
- Automation of similar tasks
Workfront is a good PM solution
- Organizing everyone's work
- Adding visibility to everyone's work
- Supporting robust customizations
- Having tasks/projects without a due date (if it is in a backlog or prioritization queue).
- Navigating can be a little complicated - it is robust, but sometimes a bit of navigating to get to the right area.
- Tracking (in that you don't easily lose track of projects).
- Cross department friendly (it can be used by anyone who needs a role in the project).
- Project management (with visibility, employees were less likely to let the project slip away).
- Conversations, communications, aren't handled very well in the program.
Workfront for HealthCare workers
- Fosters communication between team members.
- Serves as a virtual "to do list" for me personally - I can track where I am with projects and what there is left to do, and when it's completed.
- Sharing documents between team members that can be updated.
- Notifications - at times it is difficult to receive updates from team members unless you log in.
- Cumbersome - at least at BJC HealthCare, there's a lot of steps to get things logged.
- Archive system - you have to set up a whole other folder or archive to put projects that are closed out.
Less appropriate - a specific media story. This is a bulk of my work. Oftentimes media stories pop up quickly and are resolved quickly - and stopping to track in Workfront is a cumbersome task, especially when other colleagues will not be involved. However, it has proved to be useful in tracking for the media relations team specifically.
Remote work simplified and streamlined.
- The powerful communication tools ensures that all team members working remotely are always up to date and everyone on the same page
- Gantt chart is flexible to adjust to changes made on projects and ensures it is easy to track the progress of the team members.
- The robust automation tools has reduced our team members workload and saves time for everyone.
- The user interface is not easy to navigate.
- The software has a learning curve.
- It is costly for small organizations.
Well-Suited for Enterprise
- Easy-to-use interface, especially for tracking time and project tasks
- Customizable admin settings
- Extensive dashboards/reporting
- Probably not a good fit for small teams/companies--best if managed by a dedicated administrator.
- Tracking projects by the minute feels too granular at times.
- Would love to see an integration with Marketo campaigns and calendar.
Work with your colleagues on project management
- I have a lot of vision with Workfront; I analyze projects better and better until I find the maximum point of understanding projects.
- It's been exciting to develop situations that require follow-up of activities in more rigorous processes.
- The interface is very comfortable and very useful.
- I do not use it to perform a continuous search because it does not yield the best results.
- To be able to handle all its tools, there is a specific learning curve.
- Centralization of project resources, such as documents, timelines, discussions
- Easy-to-learn and navigable UI
- Email notifications of published updates from other users
- Notifications generated by members of your own organization don't send an email notification
- Access has to be granted on a project and document level
- Once a thread is started, you can't un-cc a member if the thread is no longer relevant to them
Workfront will make your team more efficient
- Organization
- Communication
- Consolidation
- Initially I was confused concerning work orders and projects being different things.
- Logging tasks and progress could be clearer.
Great functional and practical product
- Export employee time.
- Tracking time sheets.
- Managing tasks and projects in your queue.
- Unless otherwise put, the employee rate can come up as zero.
- People can still post time unless the other program Workfront is synced to is used to close the project/task.
- Ability for teams to work remotely and still collaborate on feedback
- Integrations with different systems like Proof HQ and Slack
- Timeline creation and flexibility to communicate project steps with appropriate people in the way they want to receive notifications
- If agencies do not follow its' intended use, the platform can be overkill in features and complicated to use
- There are too many options for notifications to users and many of them do not fall into the "just right" category
- If Project Managers are not using the system as intended, run/timing reports are not accurate and makes it challenging to go back and make updates for the team and run reports for leadership.
My favorite project management system by miles.
- It's easy to stay up to speed with and make changes based on system changes and your organization changing.
- The support team is very nice and professional.
- Setting up can be time consuming if you don't already have a process in place.
- Plan on user adoption to be your biggest hurdle as people are uncomfortable with change.
A Powerhouse For Large Projects
- Ease of use, nice layout, and good colours.
- Most features needed are out of the box, little need for an external solution for project management.
- Graphical representations can be automatically produced from data rather than manually configuring them.
- Other project management tools, though they may be limited, offer excellent solutions for free.
- Workfront benefits from large teams, rather than smaller more intimate teams.
- Not the easiest to pick up for brand new users compared to simpler competitors.
Workfront Successes and Ideas for Improvement
- Workfront is great at task management and project timeline planning. It has the capability of having different layouts and views for different users.
- The reporting capabilities of Workfront are incredible. The system presents data in an easy to understand format.
- The overall setup and configuration is more confusing than it should be. Once it is set up, it seems to work well, but setting up the system and ensuring that everything is connected is harder than it should be.
- The focus on individual projects instead of overall campaigns is a drawback. Requests are linked to individual projects. This makes it hard to link requests to multiple projects that could be part of an overall campaign request.
- The overall look and feel of the program is becoming a little dated compared to competitor programs.
- The reporting is very robust and easy to use. You can literally report on anything you can think of.
- iT Creates transparency for all of our employees and how they are doing on their projects.
- Allows you to track activities in real-time.
- There can be a steep learning curve, as this software has so much to offer.
- There's no integration with Gmail.
- It takes a while to set up the integration and to get all the features set up correctly.
Almost a perfect tool!
- Transparency: approve/ reject buttons with comments visible to everyone on the project. Proof HQ. Status updates visible to everyone.
- Notifications.
- Flexibility. Allows to adjust settings, views and how projects are run
- Easy on the eye! User friendly
- Fast. Hardly any freezing.
- Implements project management ideas. This allows for better project tracking and managing
- Date adjustments. When one task is completed earlier, the dates could adjust from when it was approved taking in the amount of days per task.
- Notifying the project owner when documents are uploaded
- Overall cons are small but would make the work easier and initiate a faster response.
It works well for projects which have documents to be reviewed. It is great for following the progress of the project. I am sure for a tool to track teams and internal project stakeholders it works well! It manages all the approvals, tracks the work, and allows for communication. I am not sure how WF would behave if there were more stakeholders involved, like procurement and client facing.
Project Management at an Advanced Level
- With Workfront, its very easy to come up with templates from the previous projects incase they are related
- Projects can be easily set up with everything on the same page without rushing back and forth for different sections
- It has been developed in a way that understanding project visuals, assigned people and due dates is easy and straightforward
- Workfront does not have a native Digital Asset Management features which should have been integrated to make the software more attractive and improve its usability
- Some of the very useful visuals of Workfront have been buried in its navigation which makes it hard for new users to use it
- The software tends to send too many emails which may get ones mail account flooded
Workfront Modernizes Work
- Helps organize projects and workflow.
- Templates save time and error.
- Seamless communication across the board.
- Provides accountability.
- It is difficult and time-consuming to learn the interface, and is therefore difficult to get people on board. Employees often miss projects because of the complexity of "Workfront Home," so we use Legacy. It would be nice to be on the most up-to-date version of the interface, and I really want to see the New Workfront Experience. However, we have had no info about this launch since LEAP.
- The DAM is slow and clunky. I have been told that Workfront Library is where Workfront's focus is now driven, but there is concern about whether it has a lot of the same functionality as the DAM. For example, dynamic templates are necessary to what we do for our sales team. It may also be expensive to transition.
- The overarching concept of Workfront is daunting and hard to sell to other departments.
Power of Workfront by HSiddiqui
- We are utilizing four unique stages in our organization to deal with the admission, arranging, and execution of undertakings (ServiceNow, exceed expectations, Smartsheet and Microsoft Project). Getting down to 1 single stage has been a lifeline for the groups that I am on for my organization.
- We had the option to prepare our submitter on one framework, fabricated our very own work processes, and afterward convoluted and prepared our PM's on a similar framework. One Pro I adore is that we can make changes and upgrades at the drop of a hat (well, with the preparing of time), versus ServiceNow, where it took us 2-3 minutes to just change a field name
- Additionally, we appreciate the time and consideration that Workfront has given to my organization. They listen well and issue fathom close with us, not only for us.
- I truly like the authoritative components, but building layouts takes a ton of time. However, once they're fabricated, it makes it simple for mass altering and changing over solicitations into undertakings.
- When it was first actualized, the organization wasn't ready outside of the Marketing division. In the wake of going to Admin Boot Camp, I made a staff preparing system and now client appropriation is a lot higher. I particularly love the inheritance of ventures.
- You can allude to earlier years for repeating occasions/ventures. The help group is exceptionally decent and proficient. Of late, the group has offered calls in the wake of submitting tickets, which I incredibly value. It makes it much more clear on the two closures. Likewise love that all archives, refreshes, and so on live in one spot and not in many disconnected messages.
Workfront from a consulting view
- Loading up a project plan.
- Custom dashboard.
- Assigning tasks to users.
- Changing due dates in bulk was tedious on a project plan.
- Folder structuring or accessing a document easily.
- Creating custom forms was not very intuitive.
Workfront works for us!
- Templates - allowing us to create and use templates keeps projects and timelines consistent
- My Work - having a clearly laid out work area detailing what's ready, what's coming up, and what's overdue helps keep our teams on track
- Reports - being able to pull reports based on almost any data point allows for easy data collection and analysis
- Easier standard reporting and built-in executive dashboards would be helpful so you don't have to pretend to know how to edit in text mode
- Modification of in-app notifications would be helpful
Workfront for Small and Large Groups
- Approval process.
- Reporting.
- Project insights.
- Allows better customization of the users home page.
- The ability to review proofs with no comments, as it gets messy when there are many comments.
- In reporting or views the ability to easily add fields without the use of TextMode.
- Source of record for all work.
- Great for communication and collaboration.
- Document Repository.
- There are a few gaps in reporting functionality.
- Some of the views and terminology are confusing.
- I don't have three bad things to say...
- Workfront is very good at organizing tasks and setting a hierarchy in which dependencies can be shown.
- Very collaborative and allows cross-functional teams to work together.
- Highly customized options allow for tailoring the application to our organization's needs.
- Notifications can use a lot of work, mainly due to the fact that e-mail notifications are not sent out to assigned groups, but only when individuals are assigned to the tasks.
- Reporting can be a little bit clunky, it may benefit from an easier to use UI.
- Once a task is completed, it is hard to relocate that task again for reference. Better history logging and reporting would be beneficial.
