Reviews
(1-25 of 32)Airtable is great for keeping track of project statuses and what the rest of the team is doing
- Keeping track of project statuses
- See who's working on which project
- Add details to project statuses, like contact name, when it's due, etc.
- More user friendly aspects
- Tutorial
- Maybe a more in depth set of instructions as well, as there are a lot of features
Airtable Review
- Great organization tool for project management.
- Variety of customizations.
- Very use friendly, especially on mobile.
- There is limited options on the free version.
- Big learning curve for beginners.
- Permissioning.
- Project Management.
- Customization.
- Mobile experience.
- Certain relation-dependent action between cells can be limiting.
- Data fitting into each cell nicely for visibility (you'll have to expand certain fields to see all of the information).
Airtable is the ultimate business duct-tape
- No code business process software.
- Upgrade from google sheets.
- Test app concepts without spending large amounts of cash.
- Cost.
- Can have a steep learning curve.
- Sometimes not 100% reliable in production environments.
- Fast no-code solutions.
- Gluing together multiple API-centric apps.
- Building out lightweight databases to prove out ideas.
- Replacing complex chains of Google Sheets.
Inappropriate:
- Critical production environments.
- Cost-sensitive orgs (much more expensive than Google Sheets).
An Excellent Database Solution!
- Airtable has a great dashboard that simplifies finding what you need!
- There are great video tutorials with step-by-step instructions.
- More example bases would be helpful.
- Importing could be a little easier.
The best for managing your database and projects
- It's an easy to use platform.
- It is quick to get information to others through links, or by exporting data in CSV files.
- Spreadsheet appearance makes it easy to handle and manage information.
- Integrates well with other productivity tools.
- Payment per month is affordable for small and medium-sized businesses.
- Easily puts your inventory in order.
- The errors that may occur during the use of the platform depend on the knowledge of the information and its configuration, otherwise, I consider it an excellent platform to manage databases.
Airtable is a great value to our team
- Airtable excels in its ability to display complex data in a simple way thanks to predefined layouts.
- It is extremely easy to switch between the grid and list layouts when necessary. This would require setting up a new spreadsheet every time.
- The whole app is easily scalable as our requirements change.
- The proprietary nature of Airtable makes the importing and exporting of data an occasional problem.
- The learning curve for users with no database background.
- The pricing model is restrictive.
Beautiful spreadsheets meet code-free databases
- Airtable looks beautiful. I think it's hands-down the cleanest, most attractive spreadsheet software I've used. It's a joy to scroll through and create content. This also makes it impressive to share with other teams.
- I love the Kanban view, which lets you move items from the leftmost column to the rightmost column. This view is especially great for keeping track of in-progress and completed tasks.
- I like the Airtable calendar views, which make it easier to see when tasks are due and stay on top of deadlines.
- Airtable offers some great templates that make it easier to get started. The block/base structure was easy for me to pick up.
- Airtable isn't the absolute best tool for internal team communication. For example, it would be nice if there was a comment section where team members could collaborate and leave comments. It's not that this functionality is totally missing, but it could be much stronger.
- Airtable may have a bit of a learning curve for some people. When I was learning how to use Airtable, I ended up clicking around a lot because I wasn't always sure what a button/field would do. People coming from more "standard" spreadsheet software might feel like functionality is lacking in some places, although this wasn't an issue for me as a non-expert spreadsheet user.
- User permissions in Airtable could be more granular. It would be great if you could give someone "Edit" access for only one column, for example, allowing them to make updates without changing the rest of the spreadsheet.
A powerful tool that's easy and fun to use
- Easy to use.
- Powerful.
- Fun.
- It can be hard to figure out when you are first using it.
- It's hard to communicate (i.e. make comments).
Airtable Should Be Revered
- Collaboration Tool
- Planning Tool
- Integration with Other Apps
- Lots of ways to customize
- Very expensive for the paid plan
- More embed options
- More privacy options for clients viewing tables
A flexible tool that will help you manage work faster
- Managing content production workflows
- Housing marketing and sales collateral
- Prioritizing content needs across the organization
- Better integrations with 3rd party programs for easier import/data sync
- Steep learning curve compared to some project management tools
- Keyboard shortcuts can be confusing at times
- Different views of information allow for a comprehensive understanding
- Built-in templates make quick work of some small business tasks
- Integrations with 3rd party software fit into our existing workflow
- There is a learning curve, and several new features are only available on paid plans.
- Certain tasks that people may be familiar with in Excel or Google Sheets do not function similarly in Airtable
- Some views are not available on mobile devices which may leave you waiting to see information.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Airtable community!!
Thank you, Airtable! We are a small, start-up nonprofit that relies on volunteers to help us accomplish our mission. Right now we are in the process of building our infrastructure and choosing the right tools to help us do this is important to us. Good, effective and intuitive databases are critical to the work of impactful community mobilization and information sharing. Airtable fits this bill. And I tested this! I had a few folks that really did not understand the structure of a database to try to create a simple Airtable database with 14 fields and 51 records. More importantly, I asked them to create this database WITHOUT using the help desk but by GUESSING only. Folks were able to build the bones of the database. I, of course, swooped in to figure out how to add pictures, create the drop-down boxes and make links and I was able to do this without asking for "help" but by clicking onto the icons that made the most sense.
I am thrilled that I found and tried out Airtable! And now I am more thrilled that I am now a part of the Airtable community!
- It has a really great UI. It is friendly enough for users that may find databases somewhat daunting but robust enough for folks like me that have intermediary database skills.
- I like the way that you make the content of drop-down boxes look like colorful tagging.
- It is very easy to add pictures and other types of attachments.
- Making the database relational by linking fields is pretty simple.
- I am still in my trial phase so some of my wishes (I will not consider these "cons", yet) may already exist in the more advanced plans but I would like to be able to wrap the text in the fields within the default Grid View.
- I think that all of the plans should give some the ability to change the font, font size and formatting of the text within a field.
- The calendar feature was a little quirky. And as far as I can tell, it does not allow me to put several items in on specific dates.
- To-do lists
- Marketing campaign management
- Media contacts lists
- Website asset management
- SEO evaluation checklists
- Website valuation checklists
- Marries an Excel-type spreadsheet with database functionality, making it the very easiest way to create a database that I've experienced.
- The user interface is wonderful and so intuitive. It's a joy to use.
- It's highly customizable and flexible, so you can do any number of things with it.
- Hard to say what's missing, but maybe some top-level admin -- so databases can be organized by large groups (like business vs. personal) rather than just workgroups?
- Maybe some tools built on top for things like asset management?
- Great user experience and minimal learning curve. It wasn't until I became aware of Airtable that we found a solution that allows us to implement the best features of a collaborative RDBMS with our staff who don't have any training. I had previously used Zoho Creator and found that it was difficult to onboard new users because of a steeper learning curve.
- Easy to share views and invite contributions via forms.
- Blocks add significant functionality that would be hard to custom build.
- I'd really like to be able to link records or a view between bases within my workspace.
- The form designer is not as featured as we're used to with Google Forms.
- I'm using the Airtable Importer by Railsware to bring Airtable data into Google Sheets. Import from Google sheets would be a great feature.
Enjoying Airtable as we're learning its strengths
- It's very easy to use. I was able to start from scratch and get a pretty complex workflow set up in just a couple hours.
- The ability to create one "master table" with every piece of possible information is good for the "deep dive" members of the team, but then it's easy to create views and calendars based on just a few pieces of data that are better for one specific use or person.
- Being able to store draft content on the system as attachments means that the review copy/image can be included in the workflow rather than as a separate email or in another tracking system.
- The ability to quickly group, sort and filter on the master table make it easy for the power-users to work with the full set of information, but still find a specific project quickly.
- It would be great to have multi-tiered selection options. So if I check a box-like, "Does this need social support?" I could then pick from a multi-select drop-down based on the choice.
- It would be good if we could have a kanban view built off a selection from a multi-select since some projects might be part of multiple strategic initiatives.
- It would be cool if forms could have some basic if/then functionality. As it is, we need to create different forms for different media requests that share 75% of the same data.
I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a content repository specifically or a DAM. It could do that in a very limited sense, but not if you're wanting to store large graphic or video assets. Also, as far as I can tell, you can't publish directly to social accounts from Airtable. So you'll still need to port your content directly to your social accounts or a platform manager like Social Studio.
Airtable Makes Everything Easier.
- The fact that Airtable is cloud-based is key to its utility. If you've ever dealt with the chaos that ensues when there are multiple versions of a document floating around your organization, you'll understand why we love Airtable -- its cloud-based nature means that everyone is always up-to-date.
- Airtable is also incredibly intuitive and user-friendly. Anyone who can handle the most basic functions of Microsoft Excel can handle Airtable. We have used Airtable Bases to collaborate with a variety of clients and have found that most are quick to grasp the basics of Airtable with little or no training required.
- Airtable integrates with a variety of other applications, including Slack and Zapier, which opens up vast opportunities for customization and incorporation into existing workflows. Airtable recently rolled out a new feature called "Blocks," which are modular apps available that make customization even simpler.
- One feature that Airtable is unfortunately lacking is HIPAA compliance. I have seen a lot of enthusiasm among health care professionals about Airtable, but I have watched that enthusiasm evaporates upon learning that Airtable is not HIPAA-compliant. I think there is a large market that Airtable is missing as a result of this shortcoming.
Love is in the Airtable
- It's a very flexible tool. You can adapt to very specific cases.
- It provides templates in case you don't know how to start.
- Blocks of Airtable allow you to add a lot more than any tool I've seen.
- The learning curve is a little steep. The tutorials are good but I think they could improve.
- It's a fantastic tool for non-profits for keeping the information in one place.
- It might be not too effective for short projects or too simple ones.
Airtable Integration Success
- Linking contacts and other information back to organizations.
- Clean interface with familiar spreadsheet views.
- Allows collaboration across teams.
- Ability to link on a numerical ID vs. free text
- Ability to confine editing abilities to a particular sheet within a base
- More flexibility/customization in user permissions
- Ability to group and subgroup views in a hierarchy for sheets.
Bluegrass Festival production using Airtable
- Table construction, design, and layout are the major factor in our deciding to go with Airtable.
- The intuitive nature of the program is very self-evident when starting out with Airtable .
- The ability to share information with multiple users and devices is a distinct plus for us.
- While we are just starting out with Airtable, I would say that it would helpful if there was a greater ability to design and produce printed reports.
- Multiple ways to view information
- Collaborative
- Allows for visual, creative organization
- Handles large projects and lots of different types of information clearly
- I am finding it a steep learning curve to begin.
- It's daunting to set up a project because I feel I have to determine all the parts I need at the end from the get-go. It would be helpful if there was a scaffolding or step-by-step procedure for setting up a large project. If you're new to this, like I am, it's a lot to figure out at first.
- Organization: Helps keep the various programs and rentals, along with all contact information, notes, and budgeting requests in line.
- Task Management: Easy to share documents with both team members and outside contacts, such as board members and volunteers, to assign and keep track of tasks related to the various programs, events, and exhibits we host. Also helps keep track of priority of these tasks.
- Flexible: Only having used the product for a few weeks, AirTable has proven to be a very flexible platform to use and adapt to our various needs. I am already looking forward to learning about the deeper functionality of the program and how we can adapt it for our use.
- This, perhaps, is a function I have yet to explore, but as I need to upload photos into AirTable for use in planning exhibitions it would be nice when exporting AirTable documents that these photos would be exported in the Excel document spreadsheet as well.
No more Excel spreadsheets for us!
- We are a nearly all-volunteer organization, which means we are in a constant state of personnel change. Thanks to Airtable's ability to upload just about any document, we can keep everything in one place when we plan events -- communications, templates, invoices, etc. When we hand off event records to a new volunteer, there's no more need to give access to ten different folders on Google Drive, or track down old file folders in someone's stored in someone's garage.
- We have multiple volunteers supporting our social media channels. Keeping track of who is posting what and when is critical, but it can be very challenging. Airtable makes it easy for us to track our workflow and coordinate our online publications.
- Small non-profits are often caught between keeping track of grants and stewarding donors with a clunky excel sheet or spending a lot of money for a complicated online system with a large learning curve. We've been able to avoid both of those by using Airtable. By tweeking a prebuilt Airtable template, we're saving time and money.
- I am a very visual person and I would LOVE to be able to color-code cells within a database.
- We noticed when we created our last form that when a multiple choice radio button item is included it ends with the words, "add an option." Those words cannot be removed or modified, and don't make sense within the context of most questions (it should really read choose an option).
It would be nice to have a little more flexibility in an embedded form's appearance -- text, color, etc., -- so that it matches the website when embedded.
Great tool for nonprofit data management
- Airtable's interface is simple and intuitive
- Airtable combines the simplicity of a spreadsheet with the versatility of a database. This makes organizing and sorting large data sets easy.
- The calendar view is a particularly useful tool.
- I'm still learning and experimenting and have yet to run up against a limitation.
Airtable - Thumbs up!
- Users don't need to be coders to use the database features.
- Provides a simple-to-use tool and generates several views.
- In their Help Guides, there is no mention of compliance with Section 508 or WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility standards.
