Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

I have mostly set up and helped architect custom database solutions in a proprietary software, as compares directly to Airtable. I have set up and used JIRA Software extensively, and several Marketing Automation systems, and set up Oncontact CRM, and used DAM systems, and Basecamp project management. All in all setting up databases and introducing them to organizations is one of my primary skills and I have several years experience doing this within an organization and as a consultant for other organizations. This is why I love Airtable so much - I have never seen something so lightweight, so inexpensive, and so powerful. Pound for pound it whips any system I have ever used. When I think back to all the custom database solutions I've implemented, and other processes I've managed and consulted on within organizations, I can't help but wonder how many of them would have vastly better off with a simple Airtable implementation.

I don't currently have experience with other platforms that are related to AirTable, other than, perhaps, Excel. AirTable has, by far, much more adaptability and the ability to customize "smart" spreadsheets for our needs.

Excel is only good for numbers, not words or relational database. Access is too complicated for a total novice to build databases from scratch.
Task trackers and project planners like Asana have limited functionality.

Airtable is far more flexible than Excel, much more suitable for our purposes, and much easier to learn and to train others who are not familiar with spreadsheets or databases.
We currently use Wild Apricot for our member database, but I expect we will be able to move to Airtable when our contract with Wild Apricot expires next year. Wild Apricot does a lot of things, but there is little flexibility in its database functions. As we learn more about Airtable, I am confident that we will be able to build a database that better meets our needs and is more nimble and easier to learn.

I don't intend to replace Basecamp with Airtable, rather enhance my use of it, limit it to what it does best, which isn't ongoing tracking of data.

Not wanting to build this in something like Access, which I've used previously, I did a search for services like Airtable that would help me build a relational database online and compared them. I selected Airtable as my first choice to test, and haven't gone further. It works well. So, I can't give comparison information here. I would say start here.

Airtable is a modern data management tool. It doesn't bring in baggage from when technology was restricted to your local hard drive like other spreadsheet and database software. I don't have to deal with version control or 100 different files...and then figure out how to share them...while making sure they were editable but not corruptible.

Asana did not have the templates that we needed and Microsoft Project is not cloud-based, which limited its usability. Airtable met our needs in both those categories. Additionally, we love Airtable's visual approach.

This tool has 100x the functionality/usability of Excel or Google Sheets, is much more flexible and user-friendly than Salesforce if you don't have the technical know-how on your team to customize (Salesforce does have far more advanced and intelligent CRM capabilities).

  • fieldbook
Airtable has more views to present data compared to fieldbook. Airtable has its own mobile apps. Air table has better API documentation and also offers integration to almost all popular apps. Airtable also offers a far better role and permission management and for us, that is very valuable as we want to control the information within our organization.

SAIC is a gSuite campus and Airtable is a very good companion to the gSuite. The Airtable gDrive integration is quite good and Airtable solves problems that gSuite simply does not solve. Though it does not replace them, Airtable also plays well with our Project Management toolsets.

Airtable is much easier to use than any of these applications. The only features that give it competition are nesting tasks within a project, which Asana does well, as well as Trello and Flow. Airtable is also very flexible in terms of capability. The only completion there is Google Sheets, which is must more difficult to use overall, and not very user friendly or visually appealing. Airtable has endless uses, while these other applications are generally found only in the project and task management world.

Airtable actually provides relational semantics. Many people use spreadsheets as databases, which is not really what they're designed for. Alternatively, SQL databases have a higher overhead than Airtable.
