Users and customers have reported success in automating business processes, improving productivity, and streamlining operations. Organizations have utilized Appian to replace manual paper-based systems, enabling online applications, document uploads, and simultaneous stakeholder reviews. This has greatly enhanced collaboration and cross-referencing of applications between different organizations.

In the healthcare sector, Appian has been instrumental in automating patient registration, diagnosis, and treatment workflows, eliminating paper-based processes and connecting patients with doctors and departments in a faster and more streamlined way. The platform has also been widely used for low code development and migrating older applications to the Appian code base. Additionally, Appian's capabilities in digital transformation and data analysis have allowed departments to study their own data and generate insightful reports.

Users have found Appian to be particularly beneficial for managing processes in areas such as trade reporting, client mailing process automation, onboarding new hires, workforce planning, case management, consumer marketing lists generation, CRM management, retail store remodeling, and even setting up cafes. They have also encountered issues with the date-time stamp of exported data, leading to problems in data analysis.

This approach helps in making an informed decision when selecting the most suitable platform.

  3. Develop a small Proof of Concept (POC) to determine the requirements before deploying Appian. Users recommend starting with a small POC to understand the specific requirements and capabilities of Appian within the organization. Appian is well-suited in the industries where fast development is required and the requirements change frequently.
However, the industries dealing with literally a huge data seems to be a bit less manageable than what is expected from it.

Best suited for intelligent automation, dashboard and report creation, workflow management. Apps creation for various processes.
Less suited for advanced level of automation, AI & ML based analysis like Neural networks, sentiment analysis. Other area of improvement is to add more visualisations and a learning based system with which one can get certified and learn more about the tool.

Appian is best suited for those, where the number of users is not huge. The reason behind this is its cost. We can have an intra-organization app using this platform. We can also develop a backend system in Appian for public apps. For public apps, login & users cost can make it a highly costly app.

Appian is well suited for the areas which involve a workflow. For Example: Consider there is a task and 3 teams are required to work on the task, with Appian we can create tasks for each team and monitor the comments and completion. Together with the integration capabilities, this tool can function in many areas. In our firm, we are using it to automate the workflows for our business teams and help them in capturing the OLA's and SLA's.

The Appian best scenario is to integrate people and legacy systems together in one single platform, another scenario of real-time notification via email and SMS to keep people on top of their business progress. for the scenarios that need more enhancement is when there a need to visualize map or location to allow the field persons to use high quality of mobile interfaces.

Appian works great for automating manual processes and integrating multiple systems through its toolset. It gives great flexibility for establishing rules for approvals, routings, escalations, and the like. Because of the low code toolset, it's very easy to deploy and make changes as needed as processes evolve and as the organization learns to utilize the system better. Minimal maintenance is required to support the applications build on the platform. Some of the automated testing integration with tools like Jenkins is limited so that may be an issue for some.

Especially when Accessibility was introduced, the same reusable components were used, which reduced the time and efforts of employees. It was also well suited for repetitive tasks for litmus tests and value generation calculations. I have tried Pega also, but Appian has mastered the task, making it easier to perform.

We have automated the whole business process and its associated business activities. We collect data from a lot of different users and assimilate them into a big info hub. That info hub is used to get data for the creation of business strategies and business planning. All the business decisions related to the business process are automated through Appian. Not suited is for data visualization purposes

Appian is great for workflow management. Any process-based workflow can easily be replaced with an Appian process model. Appian isn't great for heavy code processing. If you need to process huge amounts of data or computations, Appian isn't the best solution.

I support Appian so when a process model errors. I like that users do not get an error in the UI and only the devs can see the error and fix it and afterward, the process model will complete them without issue. Debugging can be hard compared to other coding languages.

Appian is well suited for pretty much all the industries like financial, insurance, banking, etc. One example is to use it in [the] supply chain model of [the] pharma industry with [a] quick turnaround time. Appian is less appropriate for small-scale clients where there is less potential for automation and digitalization.

Appian is best suited for organizations that have to respond to hundreds of customers on a daily basis. It makes all the process of customer service much faster. It is less appropriate where workflow has very few processes and does not need to interact with hardware systems.

It is well suited for business-critical automation, especially when sensitive data is involved. It is not good for citizen development. It is definitely more suited to pro developers who write code for a living. Quick apps are helpful for those not well versed in the platform. Automated reminder emails are consistently and frequently sent out looking very official and full of detail.

Appian is a strong tool when using it for requirements within its process management wheelhouse. We have experimented using it for applications, such as database management, but were met with mixed results. Where it's strongest Process management. As a single hub to go for information and to take actions. Quick mobile deployment. User security management. Integration with other tools (IE: Mulesoft, Fitnesse, Docusign, PowerBI, Microsoft Suite). Where it's weakest Reporting of both process metrics and data from the database. Managing the connected database.

If I were to recommend Appian to a colleague, I would recommend it for client account creation and management. It is very easy to manage user and email distributions. Also, it is very easy to manage permission and create an approval workflow. There are many manual workflows out there and Appian can help automate those workflows.

Inventory management capabilities are really helpful for the organization to manage the models and workflow around it. Resource allocation has also become more transparent and efficient. It allows us to schedule reviews well ahead of time with full visibility toward how many resources are available for a particular review. It also allows us to see major gaps and work toward filling them.

It's a great tool to manage business processes because it has features to allow you to manage different users and control permission of who has access to certain UI or documents. It takes very little time to develop new features for business needs. Great monitoring tool to help troubleshoot production issues.

If performance is critical, Appian will lag behind.
