I think Conga CPQ is very well suited towards complex business models and complex validation, pricing- and product structure-requirements. For less complex business models and requirements, I think there are probably other CPQ solutions of less complexity that can achieve the requirements at lower effort in maintenance.

Very efficient generating complex structures/tables.
Building them is complex, it can be simplified like earlier versions of year 2010 or 2011

Conga CPQ is very well suited for the healthcare space. Gives the end user an easy understanding of the functionalities which helps them t to place the order faster with no hassle. The functionalities of auto adding of certain products based on specific criteria is one of the best features according to me. The pricing functionalities are very well curated.

I think it is well suited for advanced quoting, advanced pricing scenarios, approvals and legal documentation. In my opinion, areas of improvements are cart loading time, merging multiple legal documents at run time. Any product has room for improvement. One areas I'd be interested to see Conga CPQ advancing is in AI and how it uses customer's historial purchasing data to recommend purchases.

I think the case when I would recommend Conga CPQ is in a legacy org. In that case, the older style and configuration might be more useful, and you are less likely to find yourself forced to upgrade to lightning.

If you are already using lightning, or migrating to lightning, then I would only recommend Conga CPQ if the alternative does not support the features you need.

I think it is well suited, and this is for CPQ in general, for companies with extremely complex pricing on their products. It's sensational for its' ability to adapt pricing to the current market trends or what products need to be pushed at certain points of the year. I would say it wouldn't be that useful when it comes to fairly simple businesses that don't offer a range of products.

Conga CPQ is useful for routine new sales and renewals, however for any kind of particularity specific to an account (which is especially common in renewals) it might be easier to edit templates in another app and send to the customer manually rather than directly through Conga CPQ.

If you have large quotes that you want to manage, then this is a great product to handle those complex scenarios. However you need to put a lot of thought in the design and how your business is going to use it. There are a lot of horror stories where Conga CPQ (Apttus) has caused headaches, and most of the time the company has tried to customize the heck out of it where the product functionality is not being capitalized on. If your business process is complex (which for most it is) see how you can get your business process to fit into the software rather than customizing for some edge case scenarios that may happen once in a blue moon.
If implemented correctly this works great and is able to scale with the needs of the business.

It [Conga CPQ] is suitable in organizations who have complex bundle within bundle structures and attributes based pricing as this tool supports those functionalities easily, but when the quantity of data increases which include the product attribute rules and constraint rules, the performance suffers a lot. Also, it takes a lot of time to return the pricing.

Apttus CPQ excels for complex contract and/or complex pricing requirements. If your business has simple pricing rules, a less full featured solution may be more appropriate.

Apttus CPQ is an easy system to administer, using the same object logic as the Salesforce platform.

We implemented Apttus for virtually all of our sales representative processes, and in doing so found that we virtually eliminated speculative ordering.

Apttus is best suited for organizations with complex product configurations and multi-tiered pricing/packaging options. It would be less appropriate for a simpler organization where pricing/products are simpler and straightforward.

I would not recommend this product to anyone. This product is hard to manage, requires development in house which becomes expensive. The tool itself is extremely expensive for the features it delivers. And ultimately, the sales "bait and Switch" will occur on you, which will require you to buy more licenses or add-ins that were not planned on to get the desired feature set.

Great for situations were you need to have multiple ways of pricing one product. For example: you need to be able to price a software product for Licensing or for SaaS. Also great where you need to be able to build out a solution with multiple options.

Transactional environments would benefit from the deep CPQ offerings Apttus provides. Smaller shops that have a much longer sales cycle may see Apttus as cost prohibitive. Implementation was a chore. We had to hire a full-time person to manage the package. That was an unexpected cost that we were not prepared for.

Apttus is well suited to provide an SFDC integrated CPQ experience. It can handle complex configurations and multiple languages. As a company that was transitioning off of a legacy CPQ solution, the adoption by our users was seamless with training lasting less than 4 hours. The user experience between SFDC and Apttus is so smooth that I would have a hard time imagining using Apttus independent of SFDC. That being said, I have heard they are developing an integrated experience with other CRM/ERP platforms. You will be best served if you are integrating with a platform that Apttus supports.

We use the Apttus CPQ primarily to configure complex engineered products. We are able to manage numerous technologies and install new technologies quickly. This is a key advantage as new products do not require an additional software build, but a simple data load of the validation rules. This tool has transformed our customer engagement process, and it allows us to enable customers to enter their requirements for us to review. This is much better than interviewing customers and entering data on behalf of the customers.

For any organization that runs standard or non-standard sales cycles Apttus is a great fit. If you're an organization that requires heavy involvement for approvals from finance, legal or executives, having Apttus CPQ streamlines your process and ensures that you are able to deliver both accurate and timely quotes as well contracts. Additionally, partnering with Apttus will help you identify and shore up gaps in your current process.
