Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

With ADP, we only used the Payroll and HR features. In looking to expand capabilities and consolidate efforts, we had concerns about the support team from ADP -- although Payroll support was solid, we found the HR support to be difficult to work with and had concerns about adding more components to the mix if the support wasn't there to help. Ascentis Customer Support is outstanding and always available, with rare exception.

Paychex was a limited tool that asked for extra money anytime you needed something more - even the ability to split an employee's pay between two budgets or track their PTO, which are pretty standard features of payroll. Ellucian was great for higher ed, but more than we would need at our company.

Ascentis beats them all. I've also worked with several smaller systems for small companies, and Ascentis has the best support and reporting functionality that I've seen thus far. Any system you pick will have its pros and cons, but being able to get a hold of support and get an answer to your issue is worth its weight in gold.

We selected Ascentis because the features and price were a reasonable match for our business objectives at the time. What stood out about Ascentis was the ability to customize and integrate with our internal tools.

We are currently starting to evaluate other software and are becoming more aware of the limitations of Ascentis. That said, the price tag for additional functionality will be fairly high compared to Ascentis.

We previously used SAP which while much less intuitive to use, it was a far more robust system. Before selecting Ascentis we look at ADP and Paychex. Ascentis is all in one and the support and account managers are genuine people. The ESS portal and ease of use were big selling features.

Most systems would not allow us to apply and track multiple jobs with multiple pay-rates for individual employees. While we had to do some customization and had some pain with the reporting, ultimately we got it to work for us and it is going well now. So the selection process was more a process of elimination. That said the price was also very competitive.

Unlike the others, Ascentis was built as an HR solutions platform--not an extension of a payroll company looking to expand into HR. The payroll side is well-represented with founders who are ex-ADP employees, but by being focused on HR as a whole, this puts the emphasis on building what the client needs. It's not off the shelf as many of the others I researched.
