What is Ascentis (discontinued)?

Ascentis was an a-la carte full suite workforce management (WFM) technology platform and human capital solutions. Ascentis WFM provided time and attendance solutions that provided clients with scheduling, compliance, complex calculations, and time collection options. The HCM suite, included a fully a-la carte solution.

Ascentis was acquired by UKG in March of 2022. The service will be discontinued.

  • All HR processes have become far more difficult and time-consuming.
  • We are charged by Ascentis for basic customer service that was provided for free from other payroll/HR/benefits/timekeeping providers.
  • It has been over a year since implementation and we still have dozens of problems pending resolution.
  • Ascentis was not ready to go live on the go-live date Ascentis proposed and that required us to return to our previous payroll provider and request an extension after already terminating their services based on Ascentis' go-live date.

  • Duplicate document uploads cause exception error and Ascentis has to be reloaded and logged into again.

  • There is a great deal left on the table in our organization because of the lack of good, easy to access, self training documentation. Being able to use everything in the toolbox requires a great deal of training which requires a significant training budget.
  • It requires an organization fully committed to getting full RoI. That means either having, or developing, an organizational culture where the employees see the Ascentis tools as beneficial to them as individuals.
  • Ascentis has the potential to be a good tool. However, it requires front line buy-in before roll out. An employee who already has a full plate of job responsibilities needs 1) time built into their schedule so they can fully interact with Ascentis and b) to see positive reinforcements for investing in their time pool to use all of the Ascentis tools.

  • Running the reports available has helped us run reports faster for our audits.
  • Sometimes information that the employee is looking for can get a bit scattered so they have to call me to see where they can find this information.
  • If an employee needs their paystub for 6 months or longer they have to individually print it from the self-service, because of this they have to call me to run it for them.

  • I'm not sure what the ROI is specifically, but overall I'm happy with the changes we've made. There's still more to learn and master. It's making it easier to access information without having to look for the hard copies. I think eventually it will save time, but since a lot of it is still new to us, I don't know how much time it has saved.

  • From a monetary standpoint, there was some costs savings by consolidating multiple vendors into one. It wasn't extremely material. But I believe the biggest benefit has been the streamlined processes and better setup than any previous payroll/HR system we've used. Knowing that the data coming out of the system is complete and accurate is a great feeling when trying to look at trends and make business decisions.

  • The positive impact is that because the company has grown at astronomical rates, Ascentis Payroll prints our checks, pays our State and Federal Taxes, sends out our garnishments and it eliminates the hours we spend doing it ourselves.
  • The negative impact was that it is taking a lot of time to implement, more than what we were lead to believe it would take.
