What is Ascentis (discontinued)?

Ascentis was an a-la carte full suite workforce management (WFM) technology platform and human capital solutions. Ascentis WFM provided time and attendance solutions that provided clients with scheduling, compliance, complex calculations, and time collection options. The HCM suite, included a fully a-la carte solution.

Ascentis was acquired by UKG in March of 2022. The service will be discontinued.

  • Makes onboarding new staff much more efficient and simplified - vs paper forms
  • Allowed less time to be spent on maintaining HR files and documentation - puts ownership of some of that back to the employees
  • Saved on payroll processing time due to the linkage between our payroll provider and Ascentis HR.

  • We were sold a product that was cloud-based - it is not cloud-based and is only accessible via remote desktop
  • Tabs are insane because everything "is hardcoded"
  • Hard to use - managers refuse to use for reviews again - cumbersome and not customizable for our needs
  • In my humble opinion, the product was oversold and under delivered

  • It has saved a lot of time for our benefits administrator who now has time to focus on more strategic initiatives.
  • It has saved us money by us eliminating separate software for recruiting and ACA reporting.
  • It will allow us to have online performance reviews and tracking. We have not yet rolled this out but we have excitement from our employees for this process and we hope will be a win for our internal brand and be a big time saver for our employee population.

  • Ascentis is a good ATS Recruitment system. Candidates are able to apply online with easy and the recruiter is able to manage candidates and post jobs to the company's website as well as across different vendors.
  • The problem we encountered on our website is that when a candidate clicks on notify me when there is a new opening it leaves the iframe and routes the candidate to a appone.com website which seems like the candidate has left and has been re-routed to go somewhere else. With everything happening today with fraudulent websites; this makes it seem like the candidate is going to a non authentic website. This should be improved so that anything that a candidate clicks on never leaves the iframe and always stays within the company website.

  • Although the price is reasonable, Ascentis management was unwilling to work with us in a difficult time for our organization, and they were inflexible with subscription options.

  • It helped us go from being a small seasonal employer to a medium sized employer, open year round.
  • It was a hard transition for managers and employees because it was not as user friendly as we had hoped. We have to use a lot of work arounds. Once we were able to get past the initial problems and find the work arounds, it helped to get other employees on the same page.

  • The initial investment will show a negative ROI, but it's believed that once they system is fully implemented and the staff is over the learning curve the ROI will be seen.

  • Negative- this process of implementation has taken far more time than we expected and we are still not done.
  • We had hoped that having a one-stop-shop type HRIS would allow us the ability to spend more time doing other things but instead, we are still having weekly meetings, trying to solve issues with the system, get responses to our questions, etc.
  • We went live with Recruiting in February and we are still working out the kinks with the offer letter, etc.

  • Huge time saver for us as we can look up EE current and past history quickly without having to dig through files
