Confluence isn't perfect, but it's pretty solid and we have a pretty big investment in time and created-documentation already on the platform. It would take a major price hike, or a huge run of incompetence on Atlassian's part to make sure start to look in new directions.

Confluence has permitted teams to come together and provide a one stop area to get a tremendous amount of documents and information in an efficient environment. Permits our teams to create documents as an entity and provide feedbacks on the spot in a timely manner. It is flexible and can be easily customized to our needs and grow with us.

We feel the ease of using it, the tools and features offered, and the continued support by Atlassian will continue to provide new and innovative ways for us to expand upon its use in the future.

It's an extremely easy to use, yet powerful tool. People love it, and the result is good documentation and people are contributing, documenting and sharing their ideas. The collaborating features, such as likes and notifications help us keep up to date with latest changes, and it is amazing to see the quick adoption of the tool.

I am confident that Atlassian can come with additional and innovative macros and functions to add value to Confluence. In 6 months, Atlassian transformed a good collaborative tools into a more comprehensive system that can help manage projects and processes, as well as "talk" with other Atlassian products like Jira. We are in fact learning more about Jira to evaluate a possible fit to complement our tool box.

If it were my decision, I would definitely renew. I'm in charge of giving the training/tutorial for how we use Confluence, and I can see that once people "get it", it is something we all use. If IT or Execs would ask, I would recommend renewing. We also use Jira for IT help desk and IT projects. All the teams have the ability to create Jira projects, so the interfacing with Jira is a big plus too.

Confluence usage in our business is new (2-3 years I think) and the efforts of switching the documentation center is huge compared to the time needed to migrate so its expected to continue for a couple of years. A lot of business I've been in are considering a knowledge database something that is cool to have but not something that needs to be top notch. So investing time and efforts into structuring and bringing people up to speed with a single tool is hard to justify to the higher instances of the business sometimes.

Confluence remains well worth its support renewal price, and features continue to be improved and added. We are adding internal users to Confluence even without an internal push (which we hope to do within a year, where we expect a major uptake by labs).

Confluence's UI is very user friendly. I have never heard people complain about the usability of it. Also there are many plug-ins to choose from which suits advanced users' needs. I am not familiar with the pricing, but switching a CMS is naturally very expensive.

This formed the backbone for our business infrastructure; when in doubt just check the wiki. Very easy to pick up, but with plenty of features and capabilities for those willing to dig a little, it is a classic case of "easy to learn, but takes time to master."
